  1. Mid season, lol. If we let that dude close til mid season we will be 12 games back. He on his own destroyed the last decent season for the mariners. Also he is 41, his age more than likely will catch up.
  2. He could have came out for the 7th, no reason not to. Dude was pitching lights out, I get it if he has given up a couple runs or something. Just dumb managing. I guarantee you one of the actually great managers: Hinch, Maddon etc would have brought him back out, because great managers know how to win games.
  3. Your wife could hit one out, yet none of the twins power hitters could today. Just stop it Brock, Rodney is a terrible choice as closer.
  4. lol I watch a ton of Seattle Mariners games (Seattle is number 2 team) And that was so typical, get ready for another 10 of those this year from Rodney.
  5. Rodney is a terrible choice as a closer, that dude blows so many games it’s ridiculous. I know it’s not a blown save but he still gets the loss. Bad. Molitor still outsmarts himself too often, no reason to pull Jake O after 93 pitches, also left Duke in way too long. This loss is on the manager as well. Good thing April games don’t count as much as July/August games
  6. What a joke. Maybe it would be best if they just **** the bed the rest of the way, maybe that would make them realize that they need to FIRE THIBS. Unreal. I look forward to the Wild figuring out how to top this tomorrow
  7. I just don't think Mods should edit posts at all, but if/when they do they should make it well known in bold at the beginning of the post perhaps. I think this thread in particular was handled quite poorly because some of you guys know Betsy a little bit. I was admonished for 'victim blaming' because I criticized her public comments in re: to Butch Davis (even though I mentioned that I didn't think she was lying in re: to Sano) Just seems like there is no way for people to have the open conversation, so it almost seems like you should just shut down/delete the thread instead of the obvious bias that is going on in that thread (and certainly don't edit posts IMO) Up to you guys though.
  8. Good point! The MLB uses several of the top legal minds, lawyers etc, and by all accounts it was very thorough (they interviewed over 20 people) I applaud the MLB for doing a thorough investigation and putting this matter to bed for once and for all. Re: Sano in the lineup, I hope he has 45 HR and this is a huge 'breakout' year for him!
  9. They won't Brock, you have been trying to fix this for years now and it never gets better. You should just offer up premium subscriptions that have zero ads.
  10. In general I think moderation is overdone here, posts are deleted far too quickly, but that is up to you guys. A larger issue IMO is how mods EDIT posts of users and leave them on the site, that IMO is wrong as it completely changes the tone, reasoning and overall point of a post. A lot of it is happening by Carole in the Sano thread and I think it's wrong. If you guys want to delete posts left and right...that's fine, but to edit someone's post how YOU see fit and how it works for YOU personally is wrong. Either leave posts as is, or delete. I think some mods are using the edit feature to shape the forums/convos etc to exactly how THEY want them to go, which sort of goes against the point of a forum to begin with. If you aren't going to stop editing people's posts you should give them the option to either have for them to edit or delete themselves.
  11. I think this is an issue and has to be taken with a huge grain of salt, it's just a random account of a random twitter user (not a reporter etc) and his conversation with a head usher. I'm not saying it can't be considered, but I also think it's a little unfair to Sano for people to bring up the 'Chattanooga issues' as truth/gospel.
  12. I guess time will tell, I disagree but it's not worth arguing over I suppose.
  13. It was a random tweet IIRC, seemed pretty loosey goosey with plenty of hearsay attached at the time IMO
  14. I would have liked one of those two, but hard to complain with the moves made so far. Also with some big contracts next off-season it may make sense for the Vikings to 'save' and push forward some extra cap room for next off-season. Honey Badger would have been a nice get, but the Vikes are pretty set with their safeties and starting CB's IMO. Need to focus on O Line and depth now IMO
  15. What is there to protest though? A girl made an accusation on social media, there was zero proof, MLB did a thorough investigation (and let's be clear, do you think if MLB THOUGHT that this happened or even was a decent chance of have happened they WOULDN'T have suspended Sano?) and they found zero evidence. Additionally there were never any criminal charges filed. I'm all for the #metoo movement, but protesting a guy where there was literally zero evidence and zero pattern of behavior is just silly and honestly hurts the movement as a whole.
  16. Very well stated, there was no proof whatsoever that any assault occurred. It was literally twitter vs facts/proof. That isn't to say that nothing did happen, it very well may have, but again no proof, and without proof you can't just take away a guys livelihood (especially for something years prior) when he has no means to defend himself more or less. People bring up the minor league ballpark workers and are shaming Sano, while yes, maybe he was a bit creepy/unprofessional in some cases, it's important to note that he was still a young kid, basically the same age as a kid in college. It's also important to note that pro (and even college players) have women throwing themselves at them left and right, and like most people have good/fair/harmless intentions, of course some do not (a small minority), it can sometimes be tough especially for a young man who is from a different culture to know what is 'right' and what approaches 'the line' sometimes. I think the key in moving fwd is educating all young athletes about both sides of the coin, as relationships, sex etc are rarely black and white and have lots of shades of gray in between. Also the key is that he was a young man when this happened, people mature, people grow. Look at Molitor for instance, when all the news of his rampant cocaine use (including during games) came out it seemed to be an eye opener for him and he cleaned his act up, became a role model and eventually a hall of famer. I'd hate to see what twitter/internet culture would have said about Molitor if he was playing in 2017 and got busted for using blow and having it on his person during a game. Basically, I'm all for (and yes happy) that Sano is getting a second chance, even though he very well may not have done anything 'illegal'/'wrong' in the first place. Hopefully he is able to learn from this, and hopefully his accuser finds peace.
  17. There won't be protests, people will move on like they always do (and should do). And it's sports, this team still honors Puckett left and right while conveniently ignoring his issues. Re: this 'story' I was very suspect about this story from the start, when no other real accusations came out I was even more suspect (sorry, but a 20 year old hitting on ushers at a baseball stadium is not a crime...maybe a bit creepy, and unprofessional, but not a crime) I'm glad they can put this story/issue behind them, whether or not the incident happened (and to what degree) I do hope the accuser finds peace.
  18. It's not 1.35 million though. A significant amount of that 750k signing bonus likely went to agents, academies etc His 600k salary gets a decent chunk taken away as well by agent, legal etc as well. After all that gets taken away and taxes, I'm guessing he 'got' less than 600k total. Yeah that's good for a 24 year old, but keep in mind that at any point he could or could have suffered a career ending injury. The idea that he is set for life because of one year at minimum pay and a very modest signing bonus is a little naive.
  19. Jorge Polanco including signing bonus and minor league salary has only made 1.35 million. That really isn't much once you factor in taxes, agent, legal etc etc
  20. Why have a sensible policy when you can just have one that screams 'see! We are punishing people!' without actually fixing the problem whatsoever. A zero tolerance drug policy is so stupid, and punishes unfairly any player that comes from or plays in the D.R.
  21. Gordon needs to be playing everyday. No need to rush him, esp on a team with real playoff aspirations.
  22. One actually has upside. Also if you read my post it’s pretty clear that Escobar would start. While Profar is a buy low, high reward type candidate.
  23. Of course they know/ don’t care. Also pretty sure that for every one player caught 5-6 get away scot Free. But the ban list is far too long, and the first time offense is stupid as well. First should be a warning and placement into drug testing platform (8-10 times a year for next 5 years) 2nd should be a suspension. This would eliminate the ‘accidental’ ones met likely.
  24. Yeah the union needs to improve in that area, and to stop collusion as well amongst the owners.
  25. Adrizana is a black hole at the plate. Escobar can ‘start’ and they should trade for Profar.
