  1. Then why not keep Hicks around until Kepler or someone unseats him? Instead, once again we are accommodating our roster and moving guys around for Trevor Plouffe.
  2. Speaking of Aaron Hicks, sure seems kinda silly we traded him before Kepler etc "proved" themselves.... but hey at least we got back a catcher who will play 50% of the time
  3. If Kepler doesn't produce then you go out and get any of the number of corner OF who can put up a 105 OPS+, there are plenty of them in the majors, in fact the only free agent corner OF who didn't put up those numbers last year seemed to be our very own Torii Hunter.
  4. Chances are better than not that a lineup featuring Sano+Kepler (or Arcia) is going to out produce one featuring Sano+Plouffe. Add to the fact that with Plouffe's salary off the books, the Twins easily could have signed Bastardo as well. Sano is going to be a disaster in the OF, dude hasn't played one game in the OF, this is not good. This just comes down to poor roster planning all around. Plouffe+Park have now effectively forced Sano to play a position he has no played before. Maddening.
  5. It's all right here:
  6. 99% is probably too high, but I have only seen 2 people on this board who have said "Park won't succeed because Nishi didn't suceed" So, probably closer to 99%
  7. 99.99% of the "fans here" understand they are two completely different cases. Bang up work by Souhan though on this lowest of low hanging fruit.
  8. If Kepler can produce a 105 OPS+ or better, then he is a better hitter then Plouffe.
  9. What does that even mean?
  10. Nobody fully "trusts" their late inning relief guys, that's part of being a baseball fan. Aggie was an all time great for the Twins franchise, but good lord if he didn't induce a lot of stress along the was. I will take the numbers.
  11. But how did they hit off of him in 2012, 2013 and 2015.... yeah, it's a non zero chance, but that percentage he outperforms Bastardo is somewhere between 0% and 20% (and that is being very generous
  12. I can't agree with this enough.
  13. Why are people comparing the Mets to the Twins again? The Mets have a rotation that will feature literally 5 ace or number 2 types upside guys. I don't care how "easy" the Mets schedule was last year, they were clearly a much better team top to bottom then the Twins in 2015. DeGrom 2.54 ERA Harvey 2.71 ERA Syndergard 3.24 ERA Matz 2.27 ERA Oh and heading into 2016 they are adding a guy in Wheeler who has shown some solid numbers as a 23-24 year old. The Mets rotation is leaps and bounds better than Minnesotas for the next couple years as well. Imagine if Duffey pitches like he did for the Twins for the next couple years, now imagine Berrios lives up to his full potential and we can clone him 4 times over, that would be more or less equal. Also the Mets are returning the following guys: D'Arnaud C 128 OPS+ last season. Duda 132 OPS+ last season Granderson 129 OPS+ last season Cespedes 157 OPS+ last season Wright 128 OPS+ last seaon Conforto 132 OPS+ last season For the Twins: Sano had a 144 OPS+ and nobody else had over a 104 OPS+ I think the Twins compete next year, but the Mets are a significantly better team (they should have won 94+ games, but basically gave a bunch of games a way once they had the division wrapped up) Anyone who thinks the Mets "were/are" only better because of their schedule/division has the most Blue and Red tinted glasses one could find anywhere.
  14. I will maybe concede that Rubio is good overall at PG, but when you are down 4-7 points with like a minute left, why on earth is he still in the game and why is he taking 3 pointers? If you are basically going to foul and chuck up 3's at that point, why not have a lineup full of shooters?
  15. The only way I will support this move is if the Twins bring Punto or DeRosa out of retirement to back up 3B.
  16. It should be noted that Pablo Sandoval has been just fine at 3B. Sano has been fine as well. I don't get why you can't still give Sano reps in case of a plouffe trade or injury, now if plouffe gets hurt for a lengthy period of time we are looking at Nunez or Santana in the lineup every day. Yeesh
  17. I still think this team can win 85-87 games if everything breaks right. Just frustrated in this choice.
  18. Last time I checked third baseman have to make long hard throws as well.. not to mention if the "arm" was truly a concern at all after TJ surgery then he would have been playing exclusively as a DH. If they didn't think he had a future at 3B they wouldn't have played him at 3B in the majors and the minors last year. It seriously comes down to them accommodating Trevor Plouffe.
  19. Yet they continued to play him at 3B all through the minors, and in his time in "the show" he actually performed pretty well at 3B, not to mention scouts across the board said he could stick at 3B fora few years at least.
  20. He had 5 bad games in an other wise very good year...
  21. Plenty of impact pitchers and hitters could be had for 5 or 6 years....
  22. Cueto wouldn't be taking innings from Berrios in that situation......any of the middle rotation guys would be taking innings from Berrios: Hughes, Santana, Nolasco, Milone etc
  23. Short sample size. The reality is Cueto had a really terrible 5 game stretch for the Royals (28 ER in 24 IP) In the 4 starts prior he had a 1.80 ERA, and the 4 starts after he had a 3.24 ERA. Factor in what he has done in the rest of his entire career and it's pretty safe to say that Cueto would be just fine anywhere he pitched. From 2011-2014 Cueto had the 2nd lowest overall ERA in baseball, even factor in his 2015 and he had the third lowest overall from 2011-2015. How is that Ervin Santana??? Oh and he pitched in a hitters park all of those years to boot.
