  1. I don't mind hitting up any neighborhood, I won't have a car though so I prefer any place that is 20 minutes or less in an uber Thanks for the recommendations all!
  2. Im gonna get working on my tribute video shortly, buying my 2021 Cooperstown tickets as well! Joking aside, I was a big Punto fan (other than when they had him start at 3B, which wasn't his fault) solid util player all said and done and seemed like a great guy to boot! Glad he had a nice career!
  3. Yeah, it basically works as a "Hey how did you guys think the off-season went" sort of topic.
  4. Eke out a couple more wins would have put the Twins in the playoffs last year (where anything can happen....) Sorry, give me the playoffs any year.
  5. Once again, the Twins gave Mike Pelfrey a 2 year, 11 million dollar contract coming off a season in which he put up a 5.19 ERA in only 150 IP for them. I fail to see how giving a guy like Lowe, or Clippard etc is somehow a more "risky" move that could hurt the franchise. Not only did Pelfrey continue to be "the suck" he took valuable starts away from the Mays and Duffey's of the world that probably cost this team the post season. Signing a Clippard, Lowe or similar literally does not prevent ANY of the Twins RP prospects from making the team. It sorta gets to the point where you have to ask yourself: 1.Does TR even know what he is doing at this point in terms of a roster construction/bullpen construction? 2. Does TR even care? 3. Is TR too stubborn/resistant/slow to change? I don't think the first two are correct, but number 3 looks spot on.
  6. First off, Clippard is only ONE of SEVERAL RP we could have gotten on a reasonable 2-3 year deal. In re to age: RP have a longer shelf life, and 31 isn't that old anyways. He's not elite, but he is a damn fine RP still. His 8.1 k/9 last year actually would have placed him right behind Perkins and Mays strike out rate and would have put him ahead of Jepsen's. (Just food for thought) Even with his "down" year last year he still put up a sub 3.00 ERA and is one season removed from a 10.5 k/9 2.18 ERA season. In fact the 4 years previous to last year he had a 9.8 k/9 which puts him way ahead of anything the Twins have tossed out other than Perkins over that span. Seems like the perfect high floor, pretty nice ceiling type signing. Again, it would literally have cost the same amount they gave Pelfrey, and only a little bit more AAV then what they gave Fien and his 5.8 k/9 to come back. If the Twins signed him he instantly becomes either their 2nd, 3rd or 4th best guy in the pen hands down. All it would have cost is a tiny bit of money, and again there still would have been 3-4 open spots for the "rookies" and the dumpster diving signings TR did.
  7. Interesting... I didn't realize that actually, I was speaking about the draft overall though. I imagine that is still 18?
  8. Yeah, the thing is the Twins are going to carry 7 or 8 bullpen arms most of the years, other than Perkins (who has injury issues), Jepsen, and May (Who should be a starter anyways) none of the other current "ready" options are anything to write home about, sorry, Fien as a 7th inning type guy is a disaster waiting to happen. So the Twins at that point have 4 spots open in the pen minimum, no reason why you can't sign one real legit RP and then let the youngsters battle over the 3 (or even 4) other spots in the pen.
  9. I find it funny that some people are trying to credit the Twins for "not paying inflated prices on RP" even those though prices are an extremely manageable 5-6 million a year for 2-3 years. Meanwhile last year the Twins had Mike Pelfrey on a similar contract and paid 10+ million to a replacement level RF "veteran" The reality is, there is nothing that prevented the Twins from signing a Clippard type, not money, not better internal options, not bigger holes to fill. It was just a failure all around, Ryan and co had it in there mind that they would not give any legit RP more than one year, and their strategy failed terribly.
  10. You missed the point I was making. If you are old enough (18) to get drafted and go and fight and potentially die for your country, you should be old enough to run for any office you want. (Or at the very least be old enough to drink legally)
  11. Yup! 100%. If they could have traded Plouffe and opened up 3B for Sano it would have been better IMO, and all they had to do is sign ONE LEGIT RP. It's really not asking that much. I still don't like how our OF looks to begin the season, there is a TON of pressure on Buxton to produce immediately, and that makes me nervous.
  12. I believed you!
  13. Fair enough, but once again, it opens us all up to a Ronald Regan situation again (at what point does someone's clear dementia prevent them from continuing the job? At what point does someone suggest it?) I mean, we are talking about the most important position int he entire USA, I am still unsure why a 34 year old wouldn't be able to handle the position anyways.... if you are old enough to get drafted and die for your country you should be old enough to run for any damn position you want. (or at the very least be able to drink beer legally) If an "age cap" sounds wrong or unfair, then perhaps you should run for president in any of the years before you are 74.
  14. Good to know, will give it a shot.
  15. Not to be crass, but 79 year olds literally die all of the time. Especially ones who are: 1. Still working. 2. Working in a stressful job 3. Aren't healthy Right or wrong this is why some people were nervous about McCain as a POTUS and why some are nervous about 74 year old Bernie as POTUS Now this is going to sound wayyyyy unpopular, but if we are going to have a minimum age to run for POTUS (35-which is stupid) perhaps we should cap the age at which a POTUS can hold office? Maybe 80?
  16. There we go! Will definitely check out Merlins. What is a good place to just go get a nice old fashioned ribeye or porterhouse? Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
  17. Not to be that "guy" from New York, but I am quite the pizza snob, is it life changing Pizza? Or just good?
  18. D- is way too generous, Terry Ryan simply dropped the freaking ball worse than Juan Castro in the old BYTO meme. The Twins are a team that missed out on the playoffs by only a couple games, have a bunch of young players and seem to be on the upswing...a key signing or two could put them over the top! Instead we trade our starting CF for a backup catcher, and sign a promising DH type (a position no where near a position of need) and fail to pave the way in our rotation for any of our young studs like May or Berrios off the bat. F
  19. Holy ****, just read this now. So much for "Kasich the one non crazy SOB the GOP has running this year" not only is that idea insulting to pretty much every peaceful Muslim (you know, the 99.9999999% of them) it's also incredibly stupid and would be a complete waste of money. The US doesn't need to be a ****ing church!
  20. Chicago has to their credit tried to adopt those laws, but the problem is you can drive 20 minutes and get a gun with no background check, no waiting period etc in Indiana. Also in NYC, I think you are still able to "own" a gun, it's just a huge process that involves proving that you actually need one in your domicile along with a few classes etc as well. The biggest thing that works is that if you get caught with an unlicensed weapon it's two years in jail minimum no questions asked. Now I typically HATE MMS, especially when it comes to drug offenses but for illegal gun offenses? I am fine with it. There is never a really good excuse on why you have an unlicensed gun at some point...
  21. Heading to Minnie for the Outdoor stadium game this weekend. Have been to Minnesota several times obviously but usually its just for a couple ball games or work. Wanted to get some recommendations for some of the best places to eat/drink in the city (we are staying a block or so from the Target Center) so downtown or within 5-6 miles would be ideal. Looking for: Good Whiskey Bar, Good Beer bar, Good food spot. I usually hit up hells kitchen for a brunch or two when I stay, so something along those lines when it comes to pricing/vibe/quality. Also any good sports bar worth checking out as well? I have been to the ones near Target Field etc and they are OK, I'm just sure there is one that might be a bit more recommended by you locals. Also this thread may be a good one overall for you locals as well to share some tips. Cheers!
  22. BUMP
  23. I hope they wait another season or two to introduce Gus, I think it will distract from Mike and Saul quite a bit TBH, plenty of development of those two characters to go.
  24. Love the two call backs to breaking bad. bB spoiler: The douche stock broker who gets his bmw blown up by Walt and the tequila they drink is the same one Gus brings the Don.
  25. All expenses paid vacation? Can you send me to Aruba please? I LOVE the thread title
