  1. Mike Trout (who Buxton gets compared to) came up his rookie season and struggled (but not as much, he had a .678 OPS a 25% k rate) They sent him to the minors for about a month to start the 2012 season and he tore it up with a 1.000+ OPS, they then brought him back to the majors and the rest is history. As mentioned all players are different, but I would have preferred this approach.
  2. Sano? Nobody is saying/expecting him to "tear up the league" or expecting anything close, however at some point you need to decide if a guy who has 33.3% strikeout rate, 4.3% BB rate in those games is really "worth" keeping on the big league roster for not only the overall teams benefit, but Buxton's development as well. Overall he has already put up -0.6 WAR in those 47 games, that is -2.0 WAR over the course of the season, you can't keep him up for very long if those are the results you are going to get. I would prefer they sent him to AAA for a month or two, let him get his confidence then bring him up, having him up with a 33.3% k rate and a .575 OPS isn't helping anyone.
  3. The Bautista over turn was so stupid. It wasn't over the top like Utley etc It shouldn't be a reviewable play to begin with, good lord baseball games go long enough without these stupid reviews. The only time IMO you should get "punished" is when you don't even touch the base when breaking up a slide.
  4. It isn't that baffling, those 47 games are all very important for a team trying to compete. Eventually a guy with a .575 OPS will start costing you ball games.
  5. It would be a complete disaster, in that case nobody gets the required electoral college votes to "win", so then it goes to the house of representatives for a vote.
  6. Today is Bert's Birthday.
  7. I guess it depends on who she would be running against, if it's Trump I really think all bets are off, not only in Texas but across the board. Trump could be absolutely destroyed/exposed (even more so) during the GE debates and I could see the independents coming out in droves to vote for Hilary in that scenario.
  8. The amazing thing about Obama getting 41% in 2012 is that it all happened with him Basically ignoring Texas/didn't use any resources in Texas in the 2012 general election. 4 years later the Hispanic voting population has continued to rise, and if Hilary were to focus on them and the state in a race against Trump a guy who literally crapped all over the Mexican population, things could get petty close.
  9. Texas eventually going Blue sooner rather than later is something that has been talked about since the 2012 election, Here is an article from 6+ months ago on it: http://www.greenvillegazette.com/p/83658/ Here is one from 2014: https://newrepublic.com/article/119951/democrats-hope-battleground-texas-can-turn-state-blue-can-it While I think it might be another 8 years for it to "turn" Blue, I wouldn't be surprised that if Trump was the nomination that the Hispanic vote came out in droves to vote against him (for Hilary), the odds still then are iffy, but it would be a heck of a lot closer than one would assume.
  10. Yeah the Caucus crap needs to go, in an age where everyone can be just as informed as everyone else, there is no reason why it shouldn't be just a traditional vote. The caucus structure as a whole takes away people's privacy to vote for a candidate they want, plus it's a huge pain in the ass time wise and annoyance wise.
  11. I honestly thought this was sarcasm at first. I mean, good on him, he was/is a hippie, but he actually hasn't done anything meaningful in his political career to actually help the black community. Marching in a protest isn't something "meaningful" and it certainly isn't recent. That was 60+ years ago for petes sake! First of all, he has done much of anything period in his senate career, and second of all, Vermont is like the whitest place on earth anyways, so he wasn't doing anything of note for the black community as a local politician as well. Again you don't have to take my word for it, just look at the raw numbers, there is a very good reason why he is getting beat by 40-50% (or more) across the board with the minority vote.
  12. This really doesn't have anything do to with anything and even worse it's not even true, First off, it's not like suddenly Washington or Oregon are going to turn Red because Bernie isn't the nomination. Also Hilary has "won" several blue states or potential Blue States including Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, Mass, Virginia and is going to win NY and CA. Hell she won Texas which has the potential to turn blue if it is Hilary vs Trump. Ohio and Florida are much more important to the dems then WA, Oregon and Alaska at this stage, 3 states that would never turn red.
  13. The diversity thing is a huge issue for Sanders because only now has he actually "cared" about the black vote/black people, the Clintons were helping out the minority communities/fighting on their behalves long before anyone knew who Bill and Hilary were. This goes back several decades at this point. There are several good articles online that can explain it much better than I can. The problem with Washington is that the majority of people who turned out to caucus were college students (i.e. people that have 6 hours free to do that stuff), and Washington is very, very white. (They do have a large Asian population, but Bernie does ok with that demo as well) I think the CA/NY voters are the most informed in the country, because A. They deal with the most important cities in the country, both culturally-wise and economy wise. B. They are the two most diverse states but unlike a lot of other states with diversity, both are HUGE melting pots were people are forced to interact with numerous races, religions, backgrounds on a daily and hourly basis. So basically CA/NY voters (LA/SF/NYC) have a better "grasp" of the US population as a whole and the challenges that everyone faces.
  14. In regards to Sanders, all of this was pretty much a known/assumed thing several weeks ago, Sanders does very well in white states, even with his victory in Wisconsin he still lost the black vote by 40%. The California and NY primaries are the largest/most important and those are the ones he will struggle in the most: (Most informed voters, highly diverse voters etc)
  15. With the weird ass game on Monday, it's even more important that Gibson is able to "set the tone" and give the Twins a strong 7-8 innings. Gibson is the current Twins starter I feel most confident in day in/day out
  16. Greatest teams in NBA history: 3. Golden State 2015-2016 2. Chicago Bulls 1995-1996 1. Minnesota Timberwolves 2015-2016
  17. Was going back through the beginning of this thread, found this joke/gem. Once Trump is elected emperor we need to download this thread to a flash drive and blast it off into outer space as a journal of the USA's last days.
  18. Is it just me or does Wiggins just like completely step up his game when playing top "teams" in the west coast? I saw him dominate at LAC and he is taking over this game tonight.
  19. Mix and match and try to attack when those guys are off the floor?
  20. This is such a weird ass team, somehow they are taking the Warriors into OT.
  21. I concur with you.
  22. WaPo weren't the only ones who picked up on it. Dozens of other well respected ones did as well, The Atlantic for instance: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/04/bernie-sanderss-rough-ride-with-the-daily-news/476919/ And I mean, the transcript really does speak for itself. Yes, it is very surprising that at this stage of the game he wouldn't at least have a few talking points on these type of questions which were inevitably going to come up at some point.
  23. Some of it is very similar to Trump, I don't think either guy realistically thought they had any real chance in hell when they announced, but figured they could help their "brand" (especially Trump) by staying in the race for a bit. Now that we have gotten closer to an actual decision both guys have pretty much been shown to have no real plan behind their main talking points, and reality is a hard slap in the face. Of course at this stage, Bernie supporters and Trump supporters won't care, and they will just cry "media bias", but this won't fly with the undecided folks.
  24. Butcher and the Boar is amazing. That Bloody Mary is a little over the top. If you are going to go that far just invite in Hells Kitchen to set up their Bloody Mary bar.
  25. Yeah it's only a few (dumb) states doing this crap currently, eventually those things will get sorted out sooner than later. It is embarrassing as hell though...
