  1. Well clearly there are several people who saw it as a straight sacrifice as well, until I read "He was bunting for a hit" my opinion won't change because someone thought he was bunting for a hit. It was a sacrifice, Buxton knew it was coming as well, just look at how he reacted.
  2. The fact that no where did anyone write that it was "Dozier bunting for a hit" it's pretty safe to assume that it was a sacrifice bunt plain and simple called from the bench, go look at the bunt and play again, Buxton new the bunt play was on, and Dozier laid down the safe/effective sacrifice bunt.
  3. Yeah it was a sacrifice bunt, it was mentioned in the Strib by Miller I believe.
  4. I'm pretty sure I read that Molitor in fact called for the bunt and it was a sacrifice.
  5. He looked better tonight, but these are the type of games he should be used in. Not tie games or the Twins holding a small lead.
  6. If there isn't a discernible difference between Murphy and Suzuki then our catcher position is in even worse than I thought. Suzuki is a .600 OPS guy at this stage of his career, and he can't throw out ANYONE at this stage, I mean for the love of Rocketpig, Trumbo stole a base on him!
  7. At some point when you haven't made the playoffs in several years, perhaps you should be open to change in approach in some aspects? I mean, Suzuki is the worst hitter in the lineup, if you aren't going to PH him in that situation, why even have 4 guys on the bench? Might as well just go with 13 pitchers.
  8. Yeah, that strike zone was all over the place, which is not a good thing for a team that will have....significant strike outs anyways. Umps need to start being held accountable, if they "miss" X number of balls/strikes they shouldn't be allowed to do home plate duties for a set number of series. Eventually you ban them from behind the plate overall and they become 1st/2nd/3rd base "specialists"
  9. It's not just Berrios that is blocked from the rotation currently, May and Duffey are currently blocked as well due to Milone, Nolasco etc.
  10. But Santana in 2014 had a .352 OBP and a .340 OBP against LHP. He also tore it up in ST this year and AAA last year. Yes his 2015 was a disaster, but if you are going to give Suzuki the benefit of the doubt on his (off year), which by the way his OPS was in line with what he did in 2012 and 2013, so I'd argue that Suzukis 2015 was his "norm" at this stage of his career, then why do you dismiss Santana during his "off year"? Santana is a better hitter than Suzuki, against LHP and against RHP. He also has speed and has a better shot at getting on base in 2016 then Suzuki.
  11. I mean don't get me started on Nunez, keeping him around when you have Santana as a super Util guy makes no sense. But.....Santana had a real nice rookie year for the Twins, he sucked last year but tore it up in ST this year, (he also hit well in AAA last year) this is ultimately a make or break year for Santana on this club, why on earth don't you give him the at bat there? Plus Britton owned Suzuki last night, it's not like Suzuki had some great track record against him or something...
  12. This inconsistency is why I mentioned this offseason and last year why Gibson is the one SP the Twins should be dangling in the trade market the most aggressively. Unlike Hughes, Santana, Nolasco, Gibson is on the cheap and even while he is inconsistent he is a solid 3/4 type pitcher. Additionally that opens up another spot for May, Duffey and Berrios in the rotation as well. (Nolasco, Santana, Hughes are basically unmovable at this stage and Milone won't bring back much) I have to think that you could snag a solid catching prospect and a good RP for Gibson, no?
  13. Sano will be fine. The umps had a very wide strike zone for the Twins today, so it was impressive he was able to get two walks. He does have to lay off the high heat though, he is a smart kid, if teams keep pitching him like that he will adjust. As far as struggles at the dish in SSS I am much more concerned with Dozier our "leadoff" hitter who hasn't gotten on base yet, I worry that his 2nd half struggles might carry over. Again it's still early, but I haven't seen Dozier have a good AB yet.
  14. Are you sure about that?
  15. Don't even get me started at having one of your best hitters bunt in the third inning of a 1-0 game.
  16. Britton isn't your average LHP though...and when you are the tieing run you need a guy that can get on base! Suzuki had a terrible OBP last year (the only two that had worse than him were Hunter and Rosario) but at least in Hunter and Rosario's cases that actually had HR power as well, Suzuki is the absolute last guy you want up in that situation on the whole club other than Arcia (who can't hit LHP at all). Literally they would be better off with anyone else, including the new catcher PH for him, or Santana, or Nunez.
  17. When you are the tying run you don't need contact guys! You need guys that can get on base! Or guys that can get XBH! A SF or moving the runner over to third on a ground ball is just as worthless as a strikeout in that scenario!
  18. Buxton took good at bats all night and had 2 doubles on a night where I think the Twins got only 2 other hits total? I think letting him hit was the right idea, hell he should have walked in that at-bat anyways if it weren't for some ****ty strike calls. Plus, he is fast, is young and has upside. Suzuki is none of those things. Indefensible not to PH for him there.
  19. Better GM decisions as well! I.E. not moving Sano to RF!
  20. Buxton looked much better at the plate overall tonight with the two doubles, he had 2 K's as well but he got kinda screwed on some bad calls. Hopefully this gives him the confidence moving forward. Gibson, man oh man, this kids inconsistency shined through again tonight, a very disappointing start for him across the board, he can't be walking 5 guys. Sano, yikes, this RF experiment is going to be painful for sometime. Lastly, I would love to hear anyone defend letting Suzuki hit in the 9th inning down two and representing the tying run.
  21. Buxton had two doubles today, and he is young and has a future, I think having him hit is the right thing. Especially considering once he is on base he is our best asset to tie the game. But Suzuki? Really? Ugh. I mean even if by some minor miracle he gets on base you are going to PR for him anyways, right? Why not just bring in Santana for him at the jump?
  22. Again, what the **** is the point of trading for Murphy if you are going to refuse to PH for Suzuki in situations like this?
  23. Well that is the problem with a two outcome player, when he isn't doubling he is striking out.
  24. You could even use both!
  25. Again, what is the point of even having a bench if you aren't going to PH for your worst hitter in the bottom of the 9th?
