  1. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/04/05/this-new-york-daily-news-interview-was-pretty-close-to-a-disaster-for-bernie-sanders/ Sort of goes to the point that a lot of us have been having issues with Bernie all along, once the actual questions come on how he will actually achieve his campaign promises, this go......poorly. If this was Hilary she would be getting crucified by people. Keep in mind the NYDN has been pretty "pro-bernie" throughout the campaign, so this isn't some hatchet job.
  2. So embarrassing. http://gizmodo.com/tsas-1-4-million-app-takes-about-10-minutes-to-build-1769084655 How on earth can they justify that building that app and "training" would cost 1.4 million?
  3. It's not all just about strike outs and non strike outs in that scenario though. Suzuki typically doesn't hit a ball far enough for a SF in that situation. I guess I just don't understand what the point of rostering Arcia is if you won't bring him up, against a RHP in that exact situation. Sorta ditto with Santana as well, give the younger guys a shot and give them some confidence. Going back one more step, I am dissapointed that they gave Suzuki the start over Murphy to begin with.
  4. Yeah walker has painted himself into the "DH only" corner as of now. That stacks the odds quite a bit against him.
  5. My plan A would have been to trade Plouffe, keep Hicks and have an elite OF defensively. Sano would have taken his lumps at 3rd, but other than that the D as a whole would look preeeeettttty pretttttty good.
  6. I wasn't trying to argue with you or anything. I have seen other people write about how plouffe would struggle in RF, gleeman was one that comes immediately to mind. I just personally don't see Plouffe as any signicant upgrade to be honest. I played RF for a game in my wood bat league last year, I went back to 1B/DH after I misplayed about every ball hit to me. So I feel your and Sanos pain
  7. Yeah this is a good point. If Buxton ends up on pace for the most strikeouts in club history (or even top ten) then he definitely needs to be sent down for some seasoning in AAA. Buxton eventually will be fine, he is always a slow starter, but if he looks like he did in 2015 at some point a month or two into the season you have to think hard about whether or not that is costing games. Ideally he turns a corner soon and we don't have to worry about any of this!
  8. I thought it was a solid tournament overall. That nova vs Kansas game was great in the elite 8 as well.
  9. I could be wrong. I just think Plouffe is too slow etc to be an upgrade.
  10. I dunno, plouffe and Sano are close to a wash in RF IMO. I'd rather have Park in RF and Sano at DH for the time being to be honest.
  11. I don't disagree with anything you are saying here, I just can't see any way realistically where they are able to cut that much that quickly. Maybe I am just too pessimistic on that issue, but a large set of Americans (the uneducated southerners) would flip if they cut the defense budget that much, the right would be trotting out fear tactics left and right. Basically I don't trust our elected leaders enough to be adults about the situation and figure out a solution, that includes Bernie and Hilary both.
  12. Yeah plouffe would be poor in RF.
  13. Arcia is a better hitter then Suzuki, especially against RHP. He is more likely to get a hit or actually hit the ball far enough for a SF in that scenario.
  14. Nothing is "lost" Seth. They were down by a run, runners on 3rd and 2nd with two down. What you "need" there is a hit to take the lead. He hit a foul ball and got a SF. While it tied the game he still wasn't the best option to hit in that spot.
  15. Replace Wild Thing was Casey Fien and you might be onto something
  16. The Arcia suggestion was for the 7th inning situation. In the 9th inning you bring in Santana or Nunez, then if they bring in a RHP to "counter act" you bring in Arcia at that point.
  17. P.S Free Joe Dillon Well said and I agree 100% across the board. I know people were trying to find positives in Buxton's game "He didn't swing at a ball in the dirt" "He fouled off some pitches" but come on, 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts against mediocre pitching is what it is. I agree that he could have used some time in AAA, but the Twins more or less painted themselves into this corner when they traded Hicks/Didn't sign any OF. FWIW Span a guy that many people suggested the Twins look at getting went 2 for 4 with a bomb yesterday for his first game as a Giant.
  18. Fryer/Herrmann were as good as Suzuki defensively, and I'm not suggesting that you needed to use either guy to PH for Suzuki. You had other options throughout the year to PH (and then the catcher replaces them) Vargas, Santana, Nunez, Hicks etc come to mind.
  19. Nobody has any pitchforks out. The Twins played their first game of the season yesterday, this is a Twins message board, the Suzuki PH question is a legitimate question and nobody is "stepping out of bounds" Clearly you don't think game one matters, which is fine, but several of us would like to discuss the Suzuki PH question. If you think its dumb/doesn't matter then feel free to just ignore this thread, or create a rule that we can't discuss individual plays during a specific baseball game.
  20. It's not based on one game, it's based on all of 2015 as well. I'm not going to dignify your last sentence with a response, that is clear trolling and you should be "above" that.
  21. Yes Brock, I know it's one game out of 162, however to me this just shows that the trend from 2015 (and before) is still around. How many times did Suzuki let the Twins down in "big" moments last year when there would/could have been superior options available to PH for him late? Again, what is the point of even having a bench when you don't even PH your worst hitter in the 9th inning of a tied game? This isn't a "one game issue" this is an organizational philosophy issue. Just like "defer to the veterans" is an org philosophy issue.
  22. What does opening day have to do with anything? Does Opening Day count less? Are teams not supposed to take out their "opening day starters" at any point? It was a close game. You have to manage game one just like you would manage game 100.
  23. I mean that sounds great, reasonable, smart etc in theory, but I don't see how it happens, cutting 400 BILLION won't come easy, I think we are too far down the path for that to happen. Maybe aim for cutting 50 billion over the next 4-5 years is a decent start/something that could potentially happen?
  24. That was before my time, but this is definitely the best in my lifetime.
  25. This says on "average" two beers at an MLB stadium costs $11.69 Yeah, I'm calling bull**** on that, I can also tell you no stadium sells $4 beers. Also, $6 for parking at Target Field....um, where?
