So any of you guys participate?
  2. Everyone wins this thread!
  3. To be fair, Park is on pace for 35+ HR and has a .886 OPS, that is all star worthy any year IMO.
  4. Few things: As I mentioned, Hicks had a terribly slow start, however he has certainly come around lately, .846 OPS in the last month. Most encouraging overall is that Hicks is showing some very apparent improvement against RHP. Additionally Hicks was at the very worst a "good" defensive CF and an "Elite" corner OF. At the very least he and Rosario (or he and Arcia) would have made a really nice platoon. Or if they don't do the idiotic move of putting Sano in RF, the Twins could have been looking at a real elite defensive OF. All of which is to say, he certainly has been a lot more productive than the guy we traded him for...
  5. The 2016 Minnesota Twins not including Duffey, Sano and Park?
  6. I have zero problems with the Twins giving Grossman a minor league deal/shot. Do it, it's not hurting anything. I do have some problems with them calling him up to the majors after less than 48 hours on the AAA roster, a AAA roster that features Byron Buxton and Max Kepler currently. At least make this Grossman guy EARN his major league shot instead of letting him leapfrog Kepler and Buxton because he was born a couple years earlier. Also, he was a top 100 prospect in exactly one publication (major one) for a single season 4 years ago. One day later we promote him to the big leagues, huh? Alex Meyer was a top 50 prospect in multiple publications a total of 6 times (BP, BA, MLB) and was in the top 15 of BP as recently as 2015. Yet that guy can't buy a legit shot at the majors. Like seriously, what the hell is going on here?
  7. #hirejackmorris I agree with that too, guys in AAA are gonna swing at more of the borderline balls, in the MLB they won't do it. In 2 of his 4 starts up here he didn't look over matched, just looked like a guy who needs to keep at it. If we were replacing him in the rotation with May or Meyer this would be a much easier pill to swallow, but Pat Dean? While Hughes and Nolasco still have rotation spots on a 10-29 team? Yuck
  8. I would have been fine with that to (or signing Cruz last year instead of Hunter) My main issues with trading hicks in order were: 1. I said, and still maintain that Murphys upside is that of a backup catcher. You don't need to trade someone like hicks for a backup catcher. 2. It left the Twins in a bad situation CF wise. Once you trade Hicks, Buxton is your opening day CF no matter what, clearly that didn't work out. 3. Hicks was developed about as poorly as possible by how this club handled him. The minute he shows some flashes at the major league level you dump him? He had a slow start for the Yankees, but has gotten hits in 12 of his last 13 games for them with 2 HR and 3 doubles.
  9. Or not trade a young, cost controllable one that we had to begin with. To be fair hicks hasn't been destroying it for the Yankees, but over the past few weeks he has started to look a lot better.
  10. Also at this point, we really have to consider that Molitor has completely lost the clubhouse. He refuses to blame the veterans at any point, places the blame on the rookies and apparently is now in charge of who gets sent down when. Teams just don't get swept 8 times in the first 39 games. It doesn't happen, I doubt it has ever happened in any 39 game stretch in the history of baseball to be honest. The twins are trending towards a bottom 5 record of all time! Some of us may have said the twins didn't have a playoff caliber roster pre season, but no one suggested we were looking at an all time terrible team! We can't even blame it on injuries either,
  11. I agree with sending down Rosario to clear his head/kick in the rear, but instead of bringing up Grossman, who has no real future in this league or for this team, why not, oh, call up someone who does have a future with this club and upside? Last time I checked we had the #2 prospect in baseball in AAA and had a .900 OPS or so.....or we could always give Kepler an actual extended look as well? Three of our current OF on our 25 man roster are: Danny Santana, Grossman, Mastrionni. I would say this current 25 man roster might be rock bottom, but I will reserve that for when they send Duffey down after a rough start. Like seriously, what else does Buxton need to do to get another shot? Bringing up Grossman is just as pointless as putting Dean in the rotation, it doesn't really help anything presently, and almost certainly won't for the future.
  12. i was trying to give Hunter the benefit of the doubt
  13. Hunter may make a decent front office guy some day (may) but I absolutely have no desire to him to manage this team. Doug, Mauer or even Gardy would be fine choices IMO for interim. Neil Allen needs to go as well.
  14. Let dougie finish the year. If he can get them playing at a 88 win pace, then think about keeping him. Ryan should be told that this is his last season no matter what. Antony as well. If th twins manage to lose 100+ everyone is gone, Radcliffe, krivinsky, Goin, Dave St. Peter and the rest.
  15. Bright side: next year when the Twins and Braves meet in the World Series it will be even more impressive then the worst to first of 91!
  16. Will be tough, David Ortiz certainly will win the fan vote for DH, also using war for DH is pretty pointless tbh. Park is "helped" by his play at 1st. But yeah, park deserves it anyways though, no doubt. Duffey has a real outside shot to make it as well.
  17. Whatever you do, don't go see Sicilian Vampire. Terrible, just terrible, almost makes be wish I watched Nolasco pitch today.
  18. Yeah it has been odd, like the losses (and even the wins) have been coming in bunches it seems like, no? Didn't half of our wins come during one winning streak? At this point it is clearly in everyone's heads, the Twins lose the first game and they just "know" in the back of their head its gonna end poorly, 180 on their opponents, who now go into the Twins series licking their chops expecting a sweep.
  19. This isnt a bash the Twins thread, but genuinely curious, has this ever happened in the history of baseball? The Twins have now been swept in 8 series, and only have 10 wins.
  20. Nunez is terrible defensively. He isn't a bad bench guy to have, but he really doesn't have any business starting MLB games for a contender. I'd much rather get a prospect in return rather than "Mlb now talent" Unless that MLB talent is somehow a catcher or a RP with upside, but I doubt it.
  21. Typically I looked forward to day baseball games, but this one smells like a blowout. Might go catch a matinee instead, has anyone seen any of the following movies: Sicilian Vampire Money Monster Keanu Any worth seeing? It's $8 day at the theater down the block.
  22. This is the problem with hiring a hall of fame player as a manager, if you are a hall of fame player, then it's pretty easy to surmise that things probably came a lot more naturally and easy for you. (I'm not downplaying the effort or anything, just that hall of fame players have a lot more natural talent) so guys like Molitor etc can't empathize or understand what it is like for the other 99.8% of players who will struggle a bit more/won't have it come as naturally. Gardy takes a lot of heat around these parts, but I think he did very well with the first crop of youngsters for the Twins (much better than TK was doing/would have done). Gardy wasn't perfect, but he seemed to have more patience with the young guys and coached them well. Perhaps this was due to his own major league career in which nothing came easy for him. Of course this also probably led to him "favoring" the scrappy types like Tolbert and Punto a bit too much, but again, overall I think he did well. Molitor with some "harsh" comments for a 21 year old rookie pitcher is pretty ridiculous to be honest. I know that we have discussed Molitors job prospects with this team moving forward a lot these days, but this is just one more example of why the Twins maybe should have hired Dougie Baseball instead (or a manager with experience with youngsters) Again, it's not ALL Molitor's fault, but it's hard to not notice that pretty much every youngster that has come up the past two years hasn't worked out very well thus far with the exception of Duffey and Sano.
  23. I think if the Tigers win tomorrow that would be the 8th sweep of the Twins so far this season. 8 The twins have won 10 games. This is historically terrible. No hyperbole needed. I keep waiting for them to play some decent ball, like .500 type play for a few weeks, and it just hasn't happened, at this point it may not happen at all this season, and I would be thrilled with a month or two of .430-.450 type play. Good lord.
  24. Yeah Carl Pohlad cared about the Twins so much he actively was trying to get them contracted. Please.
