  1. Based on typical average at bats, if Sano were playing a whole season he'd be on pace to break the SO record.......and we wouldn't even care
  2. is it me or do we have trouble developing pitching prospects? it seems like most of our top talented guys are struggling and really Berrios is the only one flourishing. Isn't that on the FO and the coaching staff?
  3. From out of town and we went to the game last night, definitely picked the wrong game to go to
  4. I don't doubt you but I would like to see statistics of concussions in baseball and how they occurred. I for the like of me can't remember a ton of catchers sustaining them. Never is a pretty bold statement, I feel like if it was Joe's decision than ok, but if Joe comes out next year or in 2 years and says he wants catch to do the twins just say sorry, we said we wouldn't. I just don't get people making absolute statements on Joe and the Twins behalf
  5. That sounds more realistic and I would be impressed if the Twins could get something like that done. They probably won't though. The last time I can remember something like this happening this early in someone's career was with Evan Longoria and that probably cost him lots of $. It just doesn't seem to happen much
  6. why do people say it like that though? like it's absolutely out of the question and no one ever explains it, they just stubbornly say "NO! Not gonna happen! Move on!" Did he completely lose his ability to catch? has he been brainwashed to forget everything he did his entire career? It's not crazy to think of especially considering the need and the logjam we have
  7. I know this makes people angry (for some reason) but I feel like it's time to try Mauer back at Catcher. He Was moved due to the concussion and we didn't have a 1B at the time, plus it was believed that Pinto was gonna be the Catcher of the future. Well times have changed, he's several years removed from the concussion and maybe as early as next year we're gonna have a logjam at the corners and DH with Sano, Plouffe, ABW, Kepler, Hunter, Rosario, Vargas, Arcia, and Hicks along with virtually no one at catcher. I believe that Mauer could still play at a high level at catcher for at least a few more years and it would allow at bats for some of the youngsters to develop. Just my thoughts
  8. Yea, That would not be smart for Sano, that would be $80 million for basically his whole career and power hitters who can always fall back on DH are pretty much guaranteed more than that
  9. so a future 45/45 hit and power tool with average other tools doesn't seem to add up. I'm not sure McDaniel understands future ratings or potential. I'm under the impression that those future ratings are supposed to be ceiling potential and the ratings he gives reads more like a utility infielder at best. You don't pay a guy $4 million to be a future utility infielder.
  10. well it does work for some but you also have the Tony Gwynn Jr's and Dale Berra's of the world (among others) that didn't live up to their father's playing careers
  11. Ruth is the obvious answer, but I'm gonna give you an interesting contender that no one would even consider. If you include defense, offensive impact, and longevity, Ichiro Suzuki checks off all those boxes. People forget he didn't make it to the states until he was 27 and if you combine his Japanese Stats he totaled over 4000 hits in his career while being an elite, GG CF for most of his career as well. I know people don't want to consider players who are still currently playing but to do what he did in modern baseball is amazing and think about if he had started his career here.....Alas it's still probably Ruth, I'm just trying to think a little outside the box
  12. also if Robinson hits 2 more triples he will tie the record for most in a game! Set by my name sake George Strief (spelled differently, probably no relation) in 1885. That would be pretty cool although highly unlikely
  13. Hard to find a solid answer this, the Angles hit 4 earlier this year and it hadn't happened since the 30s but I can't find if it was a record or not. The record for triples in a game is 9 (6 is the AL record)
  14. Yea, those were bogus calls, the ump is being extremely liberal with his zone
  15. Wow! I did not see that coming, it's kind of a trend this year so why not jump on the bandwagon of calling up top prospects from AA!
  16. I'm hoping for Either Austin Rei or Blake Trahan with our 3rd rounder, Matuella would also be a value pick but it scares me that no one has picked him up yet so either he's unsignable, the injury's worse than we thought, or scouts saw what I saw and believe he's gonna be constantly hurt.
  17. well that sucks, you don't draft a reliever to be a starter 6th overall
  18. Jay is pretty much the only guy I would be disappointed with
  19. Damn, 4 picks in and all my guys are gone......
  20. That's my board too although I would maybe consider Aiken instead of Jay and Rodgers and Bregman are really close to me
  21. This year's draft kinda sucks, we just have to deal with it. In any given year Tate, Bregman, and Jay would be somewhere in the 8-15 range but this year they are for sure top 8 picks. Out of our options Bregman and Tate are by far my favorites, not world killers but their floors are very high. For Tate he is a potential 1-2 starter with a floor of a very good reliever, Bregman has the potential to be a solid MLer at the very least, I see him as a JJ Hardy (with a little less power) type more than Tulo but that is a very good pick in this draft.
  22. Actually Bregman is a solid bat (some say the best college bat in the draft) with an average glove. I think he'll stick at SS and he's my pick but I do absolutely love Tate. Never been sold on Allard even before the injury, reminds me of Max Fried, a plus for being a lefty, good but not great stuff, kinda meh for me. I'm rooting for Bregman, Tate, or Tucker. If all 3 of those guys are gone I say take a flier on Aiken!
