  1. Justin Morneau per injury was a much better player than Mauer IMHO! So he would be a 75 in my mind and Mauer is much more of a 65-70 player because he lacks power
  2. I guess the game passed him by when he signed Willingham, burton, Doumit and carrol?
  3. 1. Terry Ryan didn't trade Jim Thome. 2. The Liriano trade is better than most think, we got two big league players for him, give it time. 3. Terry Ryan's free agent moves were very good this year, actually I would say outstanding. Willingham, Carrol, Doumit, Burton , u can't really complain about his one miss...... Marquis
  4. Trade him right now!! Get a stud pitcher that is in high A somewhere for him along with a B prospect in AA and be VERY HAPPY!! They should have done this last year with Cuddyer and Kubel instead we got draft picks that are at least five years away!! I would like to see who the twins have drafted as supplemental picks that have panned out? That would show us the real value of getting draft picks for losing FA!
  5. Would live to see Hume come up and get his feet wet similar to benson and parmalee last year!!
  6. Thank you!! If they do, you jump on it instantly!! Now you have a proven commodity u can trade any time in the next four years or whatever the length of his contract is!!
  7. This conversation is silly!! Let's take a look at Miguel Cabrera in minor leagues http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?P=Miguel-Cabrera He never put up Sano type power numbers, he did hit for a slightly higher average and struck out a little less. I would trade him for Price or King Felix in a heartbeat as they are proven commodities that instantly improve a major weakness not only in the major leagues but in your entire system. TB and Seattle would be nuts to trade a number 1 big league pitcher for a A ball 3B/1B/Outfielder!!
  8. IfBenson isn't an every day player next year it may not happen!! Hicks and Arcia will both get a cup of coffee this year and you never know when a player will stick. Dozier played most of last year in AA and a couple weeks I AAA this year and is now a full time big leaguer. Why can't Arcia and Hicks do the same?
  9. Oh, please enlighten me?
  10. Benson,Hicks and Arcia are damn near ready for th big leagues now. Jump from AA tobig leagues is not all that uncommon. We need to make room for the young kids and build our rotation for when they get here!!! Trading Willingham and Span will bring back the assets needed to do that. Make it happen!!
  11. Liam is being kept in Rochester so he doesn't get ruined by being clobbered in the big leagues!! Let him work another couple starts in AAA and give him another run at it. It worked with Diamond so far. I would rather see Jack Morris start at age 55 than watch another Nick Blackburn start. I have turned the TV off for three years on his turn in the rotation and I LOVE watching the Twins!!! Man I wish MLB had an amnesty clause!!
  12. Decries, Defungal, Blackbum, Man****, Swarzattack, are all the same pitcher, 88-91 and hit your spots. None of them will ever be big league capable starter IMO!!
  13. I know this is a lot of ifs and buts but........ If Baker, Wimmers and Gibson don't get hurt our pitching depth looks pretty damn good!! Injuries happen......nothing we can do but rebuild and hope they get healthy. Twins have had a two year run of horrible luck piled on top of three years with Bill Smith as GM. Terry Ryan has us moving in the right direction although it is always slower than we would like.
  14. Please God NO Clete Thomas!! He is nothing but a AAA player. I would love to see Benson get healthy and see some AB's as I don't see Parmalee as an outfielder at all. I understand getting him some AB's but it needs to be somewhere else.
  15. I just keep hoping Grienke will want to stay in a smaller market and the Twins will do something out of character for not one of there own!!
  16. Greinke, diamond, Gibson, (FA Lefty), Hendriks. Next season!! Too wishful of thinking, not if Terry can copy Chuck Fletcher!!
  17. This post has taught me we have a TON of talented outfielders!! Do we trade any for talented arms sometime soon?
  18. Please, no more Blackburn in 2013, I would rather have Latroy Hawkins return as a starter than see Blackburn throw any more 89mph gopher balls!! What the hell happened to this guy?
  19. I think Benson is the only guy they would consider throwing in as a sweetener at this point and his value is at a low. Yes, I thought about Revere vs Hicks in CF I don't think you go wrong either way. If you look to 2014 you have to expect Revere in left, Hicks in CF and Sano in RF if everything works out, so why play Hicks and Revere out of position for a year. Hicks/sano provide enough power to make up for Revere playing corner outfield position. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself there but trying to think long term.
  20. I think this article has a good premise and the fire Terry Ryan people need to chill. I do think that Ryan. Feels we are close and that he may spend a little more to get one really good sp this winter. You add that to Gibson coming up, Dozier and Plouffe another year advanced and the emergence of our outfield prospects in AA I see no reason we can't be competitive in 2013/2014, he'll we aren't that far back right now!! I know the central is terrible but the Cardinals won 80 or 81 games a couple years ago and went on to win the world series.
  21. AA to big leagues can go very quickly, we should see him late this year especially if Benson continues to be hurt/bad. If Span is traded he gets a real shot to be every day CF next year.
  22. I think a 6-10 type prospect and a 15-20 type prospect are realistic hopes. Liriano as a 3 or 4 starter looks pretty damn good down the stretch.
  23. Carroll? I think he is a good pickup and that Terry Ryan actually had a really good year in free agency. There wasn't a ton of free agent pitchers that would have done anything for us last winter. This year is a much better year for that, Ryan knew that. Look for them to make strong run at Greinke who will go to a smaller market team. I also think they will gamble on Gibson being ready to help when healthy. You also haven't accounted for them picking up a pitcher through a trade.
  24. MVP is not a measure of best player, it is not a most outstanding player award. Having your team in playoff contention should be a factor in the writers votes.
  25. I disagree, you can't be MOST VALUABLE on a losing team.
