  1. Without a doubt. Problem is, we all expect him to melt down again at some point. They are trying to trade him, Gardy doing nothing but praising him on a night he walked six guys!!
  2. Has anyone else noticed that Frankie has actually stopped listening to Anderson? His motion has become much more like it was before he got hurt. It is much more violent again which explains the nasty bite on the slider and his average fastball sitting at 92-94 instead of 89-91. With all that being said, someone will overpay for Liriano especially if he has five more good starts leading up to the deadline. Take what you can now, like you should have done when Delmon Young had his best year!!
  3. Door # 3 I want pitching. Throw in Doumit for all three.
  4. He would never admit it but Terry Ryan knew competing this year was a long shot even with a healthy pitching staff and a mediocre Liriano and Pavano. He made some outstanding signings with Willingham, Doumitt and Carrol. He missed on Marquis, big deal. He has a ton of pieces to do what he has always been good at, fleecing other teams in trades. Oh I forgot Capps, who will also bring back a young prospect. Patience people, Ryan is looking at 2014. They will add one free agent pitcher this offseason but payroll will remain where it is now with Pavano and Baker coming off the books. Let's hope Gibson comes back strong and Diamond becomes a legit # 3. Trade a couple guys this year to find that power front of the rotation prospect sitting in AA for someone else right now. Sign a quality free agent this offseason or next and we are back in action for 2014. Call me an optimist but i believe in Terry Ryan.
  5. Sano at third is a HUGE asset, keep him there for another year. If he is athletic at all the outfield or 1B will be no problem adjusting to. Remember, he signed as a SS so he obviously has athletic ability.
  6. We were all so excited when he lost that damn shoe!! Then the Cowboys won four super bowls!!
  7. Boras has ruined as many careers as he's helped. Hicks was actually compared a lot to Daryl Strawberry when he was drafted. Not sure if that was because he is a long and lanky African American from California or not? I honestly think he will be a good player in the big leagues. Will he be a perennial all star? Probably not. These really athletic high school kids do take a little longer to develop so I don't think it is time to panic. Joe Benson fans should probably panic. Button has a ton of power as is evidenced in the bomb he hit with a wood bat at wrigley. He may fly through the minors, more likely he is in the big leagues at 22/23. I would love to see an outfield with him, Hicks and Revere!! They could cover some ground!! I like the pick because there was No clear cut ace quality pitcher in this draft.
  8. Just by seeing video it is obvious the kid the twins took at 32 is much more athletic than Brown. Brown throws hard but it is pretty straight and his breaking ball needs a lot of work. He's also more like 5'10 or 5'11 not 6'2. I like him at pick 62 or 72 for Twins.
  9. Players that are driving the ball to the opposite field gap are hitting at there peak. This has always been true. Look at when Cuddyer, Hunter and Morneau have been at there best. They are naturally pull hitters but are always the hottest when driving the ball the other way once or twice a game. Morneau looks like he is getting back to pre-injury form. If he hits .270 with 85 RBI and 25 homers is it a successful season?
  10. Just realized I used an F bomb on a public board, sorry about that!
  11. When I was 12 I had Chuck sign a ball for me before a game at the dome. When he handed the ball back to me I scratched him a little, obviously wanted the ball bad!! He was my favorite player at the time. Chuck looked me dead in they eye and said " Ouch, cut your fuc?$&g nails kid"!! Karma is a bitch Chuck!! I wish you no ill will but life gives you what you got coming!
  12. Mauer is a two hole hitter. He doesn't belong in the three spot.
  13. Alex, stats often lie!! What is his percentage for driving in the run in that situation? It should be 90% given his ability to hit weak ground balls.
  14. If Inge continues to hit and drive in runs he will have value at deadline, Billy Beane is not a dumb man!!
  15. Mauer is the worst 3 hitter in baseball if you look at return on investment. He is a singles hitting 23 million dollar a year part time catcher. That's not being anything but factual. He struggles to drive in runs from third base with less than two outs and hits into a TON of double plays. Even if he catches fire we would be lucky if he hit 12 HR and drove in 90 runs. PERIOD. My vote is to make him a third baseman 100% of the time. He will be around longer and fill a real need in the organization. Sano is years away and might be an outfielder anyway.
  16. Four homers and 17 RBI in eleven games would have been a bit of an upgrade over Plouffe/Valencia.
  17. It was a joke buddy. Although I think he went four straight games with at least 3 hits over the weekend.
  18. Why all the Gray hate? He has pitched I. Much tougher situation than Burnett and been fairly good. They will not send Diamond down. Parmalee is probably the best bet but that doesn't get us to 12 pitchers.
  19. Sweet one, it's early in the year. Look at disparity at the end of the year and you will notice a huge difference. Nolan Ryan has made a conscience effort to change that mindset in Texas. I would be interested to hear where they compare to the rest of the league?
  20. Ah my fault, we need guys who are 95 plus in bullpen and one dominant starter who can get there! I know it is a lot to ask for! Seems we get guys who throw gas in rookie and A ball then they get to big leagues and they are 88-91! I think the difference is most notable with a guy like Liriano. He got away with a lot of mistakes when he was 95-97 that he doesn't get away with now that he is 89-92
  21. Oakland 6-1 since signing and he hit a walk off slam last night! Maybe he's got some JUICE left?
  22. And Shane, over 90 is not a hard thrower, we are talking 95 mph plus, that is a plus plus big league fastball
  23. It has always been my contention that we baby these pitchers way too much in the twins system. They get to 100 pitches and they are shut down. That doesn't build arm strength!! Look at what Nolan Ryan has done at Texas, these guys go 130-140 pitches regularly and aren't breaking down at the rate the twins pitchers are. Take off the diaper and let guys build the arm strength and you will see guys improve or at least maintain velocity.
  24. Looked like Cliff Lee tonight!! Thank you Scott we needed at least one night of glory!
