  1. Slama has walked the world every time he has been up. Manship just isn't very good. Gray has actually been a pleasant surprise in my book. Definitely has some velocity, which Slama and Manship lack. He has always had good stuff but has been injury prone. Needs to lower walks but I actually like him.
  2. Your forgetting one person. His name is Johan Santana, he is no longer with the twins. There isn't a pitcher on the roster who is half that good.
  3. The publicly funded stadiums are a catch 22, I love them but really do believe it is just another example of corporate welfare. These owners can afford to build these stadiums themselves and hold cities hostage to get them done. They really don't I prove the economy in the long run either. Many studies actually show that they hurt as people tend to stay away from these areas on game day if they aren't interested themselves. Twins had no choice with Mauer, it isn't smart to have him lock up that big of a chunk of payroll but what else could they have done. Can't wait for 2014 when Sano gets called up at 20!!!
  4. Plouffe has actually had good at bats since he started seeing regular playing time. They haven't translated into hits, but his AB's have been good.
  5. Doumit, carrol, and Willingham were signed to very friendly contracts for a specific reason. They have value at the deadline because teams will be desperate!! It happens every year! Casilla is playing very well right now I don't know why people keep bashing him.
  6. Plouffe has actually had some good ABs the last couple of days with little to show for it. That being said, neither of these guys are anything more than 11,12,13 position player on a roster. Plouffe may be capable of hitting 20-25 homers but his obp will be about .280. Burroughs has looked incredibly over matched at the plate. He was a good story but look for him to be cut very soon. Dozier will get call up and Carrol will float around infield at 3B, SS, and 2B in a Nick Punto role
  7. Trading Span needs to be an option. We can probably get a very good AA prospect or a big league 3-4 starter for him. We have plenty of CFs in AAA and AA in Hicks, Benson and Revere! Spans arm is barely average so going to Revere all though ideal isn't much worse than Span. Benson and Hicks both have a bazooka for an arm. It's rebuilding time and the only two guys you don't trade are Mauer and Morneau, unless Morneau really starts to hit!! Right now his value is too low! Span, Capps, Carrol, Casilla, Willingham, Doumit all should be available at the deadline.
  8. Inge would be a good fit. Our kind of player, send Valencia down as he has options left. If he doesn't figure it out, cut him. If Burroughs continues to struggle cut him as well and bring up Dozier to play short at all star break. Trade Carrol to contender at deadline for any big league starter who throws over 88mph and breathing!! Lmao I know Carroll won't bring that but we might lose 100 games if we don't find a couple starters to get some outs!!
  9. Bring up Dozier and play him at 3B
  10. Mauer may have good number but we have lost two games because of his inability to drive a runner in from third with less than two outs late in games. I may be knit picking there I just expect Hume to come through in that situation every time.
  11. Valencia has one of the worst swings in MLB. I don't know if he is coach able or not but he looks like a power hitting 12 year old with the foot in the bucket swing up there!! Will NEVER hit a big league breaking ball!! Liriano may do ok as a 6th or 7th inning guy but I don't see him thriving under late inning pressure. Has Casilla been that bad? Last I saw I thought he was hitting .270-.280? The biggest problem i have seen is the lack of production from Mauer/ Morneau with runners in scoring position and often with less than two outs. Yes, pitching has been bad but these guys have to drive in runs. A .300 hitting 3 hole with 65 RBI does nothing for me. We know the pitching will be bad, Mauer and Morneau have to make up for that. I don't see how we can move Carroll off of SS until we are ready to totally give up. We are only 18 games in. It's most likely going to be a tough year. Ryan has us positioned well to get some decent prospects back at trade deadline with Willingham, Carroll, and possibly Span.
  12. Now is not the time to bring a bunch of position players up from the minor leagues. Our lineup is actually really solid right now. We need Perkins to pitch like he did last year and Capps to have an outstanding year and we will be an average team within 10 games at the end of the year. While some of us might contend that we would rather see them tank it and get a better draft pick, Target Field is in its third season and they need to keep attendance up. Hope that Gibson, Wimmers, and the kid from Stanford are all close to MLB ready next year, because we have nobody ready to step into that rotation!! Is rich Harden with anyone yet? Big time arm that could be great trade bait at the deadline.
  13. Hughes has never stayed healthy or hit when he had chances. Not to mention his defense is TERRIBLE!! He deserves a fresh start somewhere. Burroughs is a great clubhouse guy, a good bat off bench and a phenomenal defensive player. Casilla is actually hitting the ball really well so I didn't see Dozier getting called up until they trade Willingham or Carrol at the trade deadline. Yes we will trade Willingham this year if we are out of contention at deadline, part of reason why they signed him. Hopefully they can get a power arm for him.
  14. He will be in AA after all star break. Start next year in AAA and be ready for big leagues by July!! I know the twins won't allow that to happen but I would love to see it!!
  15. This thread is a joke. So tired of the race topic coming up about EVERYTHING!!!!! Kirby Puckett, Dave Winfield, Chilli Davis, Shane Mack, Denard Span, traded Matt Garza for Delmon Young, it goes on and on. I refuse to even acknowledge the article.
  16. They came back from down six today after Joe and Justin couldn't get it done earlier in the game and Frankie had shot himself in the foot AGAIN! I think they showed heart and character today. On a side note, is Jamey Carrol an alien?
  17. Recovering from TJ has a lot to do with work ethic, something a guy like Liriano lacks, thus the drop in velo. I think you will see Nathan regain much of his velocity this year. A young guy like Strasburg who also works very hard snaps back pretty quick, but he will be hurt again at some point unless he changes his delivery. I think Gibson will come back fairly quick as wel, and his velocity should be regained fully by 2014. He may need to adjust some things in his delivery but they won't tweak him much. He wasn't a real violent guy, his tear was debatable whether he even needed surgery yet if you remember correctly. The Jamie Carroll project is all about the trade deadline. The twins hope he hits enough to get a prospect back mid season when they bring Dozier up. They may also dump Willingham and Baker at that time if Big Flop Scott ever gets himself (mentally) healthy!!
