It appears we have a 24-man team. Unusual for two members of the BP to not be used when the starters only totaled 13.2 innings in the three games.

At 89-90, Ober’s margin for error is pretty small, but I wouldn’t count him out, even if the velo stays where it is. Keep it out of the middle of the plate and let the hitters get themselves out. I’d like to see more tha single-digit hits today and some knocks with RISP. -

Well, this is going to be gut wrenching every time the Twins have a lead in the late innings.

With the weather day, Shelton can use everybody, but if this is the way he’s going to match up, there are going to be a lot of guys with more than 70 appearances.

Too many pitches, but on balance a pretty good outing for Bradley.

Rewriting a previous poorly worded post: I agree that it's a stretch to bat Clemens leadoff, but if Shelton wants Buxton and Keaschall to hit 2-3 somebody has to bat first. Clemens had a nice spring training, so that is who Shelty is going with. To be consistent, the same people convinced the Lewis is a bust based on his 40 plate appearances this spring should be certain that Clemens is a decent choice to hit first in the questionable Twins' lineup due to an equally small number of PAs.

Salvi hasn't started 100 games at catcher in a season since 2021.

All this talk about first home run. I fear that by the middle innings we'll be looking for the first hit.

Caratini's OPS last season vs. RH pitching was .726, Larnach .759 and Clemens .762, not like there is worlds of difference IMHO. I agree that having a LH hitter or two in the lineup is a pretty good idea. However, on the Twins there aren't many LH hitters that merit starting against a lefty. The choices would be Outman, Larnach, Gray and Clemens. Given those options, I'd take Caratini, who is probably a better defender than Bell. I'm not fond of the roster, but given what is there, I think that should be the starting nine vs. LH starters.

Fair point, probably the better term for my response is and should have "overreaction" to a bad run in Spring Training.

I think there's a lot of kicking someone when they're down here. Royce Lewis is a talented 26-player who has already experienced some pretty big highs in MLB and has had a career worth of injury at age 26. Being terrible in spring has happened to a lot of players who then came out of the gate hot. I don't know if it will happen to Lewis, but I'll be a lot more concerned with a 3-30 stretch if the games count. I put a lot of blame for his poor stats in 2025 on trying to return too soon from injury. He was a pretty good player after the All-Star break and showed more speed and athleticism. He's not Superman and he shouldn't try to be. Maybe in batting him eighth Shelton is trying to send that message.

I agree. In addition, the catchers the Twins brought to Spring Training actually performed pretty well, especially Cardenas, who stayed with the club most of the spring. Jackson didn't hit in the spring, but he has very good defensive tools and plus power. St. Paul's roster is going to be a jumble. Too many catchers and too many outfielders who need to play every day.

I've thought this for a while--this club is pretty well equipped to handle left handed pitching. It may not pan out that way, but they have two switch hitters who hit lefties better last year and four nominal regulars who hit right handed. Add Martin, Bell and Wallner, who actually had a better OPS against lefties last year and that is a decent lineup.
