  1. All right, who are you, and WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH EDUARDO NUNEZ?
  2. Bilateral something something weakness, you are saying? No amount of padding will help. / edit - scooped by aggies7, I'm pretty sure, but oh well
  3. You're referring to the RF experiment? No question in my mind about that. I never thought they'd even go through with it. "Book it", I believe I said last off-season, using a familiar meme of the moment.
  4. Do you want my opinion on your post? Spoiler alert: it's very witty and trenchant.
  5. I imagine no one who has watched Sano at third for more than a couple of games doubts he has the tools to play the position. I believe the caveats you hear are along two axes: 1) he's not yet consistent, and 2) he's one self-satisfied off-season from eating himself out of any skill position, so why invest further time developing him there. There's also the presence of Plouffe on the roster. Plouffe is less gifted at this point in their respective careers, but more steady. Suspect defense, maybe. But I don't think the judgement we've heard has been hopeless defense.
  6. So? What did he finally tell you?
  7. I'd even hate to be the center fielder getting that come backer.
  8. Moderator's note: without attempting to judge, nor try to guess who should be allowed the last word, I'd like to ask if we can leave the personal bickering aside at this point?
  9. Sano really picks it, on that play!
  10. Sounds like the title for a RomCom involving two litigants eventually falling in love.
  11. Mauer facing Bauer. Too bad Hank Sauer and Rich Dauer retaured.
  12. You're saying that this major league broadcaster is out of your league.
  13. Kepler scurries over and saves a couple of runs (for the time being) versus what a lumbering RFer might have done.
  14. The shift against CSan doesn't do the job.
  15. Your anti-jinx technique has been perfect in the month of July. Keep up the good work!
  16. You're still not seeing the self-contained logic involved in this view. Other self-contained logic can be equally persuasive. And you're assuming the patient went to the doctor seeking help in the first place. Not to mention that an analogy to a disease is much too cut-and-dried: there is no agreement as to who has the disease. "No, Doctor, you're the one with cancer. My cough demonstrates my body is dealing with the toxins surrounding me and expelling them. Where is your cough?" Moreover, words like "peace" and "freedom" mean quite different things to different cultures, and not just through perversity but by emphasizing different aspects. Communists for instance ae well known to question Americans' definition of freedom by pointing to the freedom from having to sleep under a bridge when you have no job. (And I have no interest in wandering down a tangent here exploring Communism's differences between theory and practice. I'm hardly a Red anyway.) This isn't the same as defending a particular culture - it's just recognizing that zero progress can be made when the cultures talk past one another. ChiTown's advice to tone down the level of certainty seems wise.
  17. Do you get to run that spreadsheet? If someone says "submit to Allah, that is the only true hope for humanity", why is your form of accounting automatically better? And how in the world do you get that person to agree?
  18. Welcome. TD encourages cross-pollination of other blogs in this manner. We hope you'll take part in the discussions here, too.
  19. Funny, Parmelee was the guy I thought of when looking at your list. Plodding but solid, unlikely to really cost you like the guys in your first list, but nowhere close to the skills of the second list. I have no insight to offer on Palka himself, of course.
  20. The closest he comes there to a prescription for constructive change is to be an infinitely fantastic person every single day. Since I'm already there, where are the rainbows and unicorns I've been promised?
  21. Rochester already has ABW and Palka to man the corner outfield spots. AAA is different from the other minor league levels in that it's not solely for development - it also is the place teams stash the guys they might need to call up for emergency service in the majors. While I'm not enthused about Mastro and Schafer even for emergencies, they are who we've got, and they have to stay ready. Harrison would sit too much if he were brought up. His solution is to hit better at AA, anyway. I'm not giving up on him, but Harrison's career is kind of stalling out at the moment.
  22. Was hoping for better. Oh well, wait until tomorrow, when we have our ACE going for us. (Who was it they said that's starting?)
  23. The more you drink, the less you brain.
  24. You miss a little, you miss a lot. Good plays and bad plays. It's been an interesting first few innings.
