  1. Don't test my patience with this new-fangled NextGen Borg stuff. I'm old school Give me Mirror Universe Puckett with the beard every time.
  2. I meant two antecedents. Oh, and sentence, not thread. 😀
  3. If Keaschall starts worrying about tipping his pitches to fellow infielders, or the bottom falls out from his throws just as they arrive, the concept may have gone too far. 😀
  4. Keirsey has logged 3000+ innings in CF while Martin has under 1000 there. Keirsey has just under 300 innings in RF under his belt, while Martin's rag arm doesn't make him a serious RF candidate except in extremely small doses. If Spring games are for answering questions, perhaps the alignment they chose today did more for that than flipping the two. (I'm not sure what question Jeferson Morales playing LF proposed to answer. 😀 )
  5. Maybe that seemingly dislocated left index finger was more significant than I thought.
  6. Top of the current page, anyway. This thread has two.
  7. I thought about him earlier and looked up his 2016. His short stint in 2015 didn't deprive him of eligibility for Rookie of the Year honors, so for me that counts. But he didn't start a game until Game 8 of the season. That was the season of the Miguel Sano In Right Field Experiment*, but they also had Danny Santana and Oswaldo Arcia start a game before they finally relented and let Max start in Right. I guess it's a matter of semantics whether that's trusting a rookie or not, but the question was specific about Opening Day so Max really doesn't qualify. * Also, perhaps not coincidentally, the season of Total System Failure™.
  8. Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, uh, your opinion, man. /obligatory
  9. Steve Hajjar and Cade Povich. (Well, I still miss them.)
  10. Why the reference to yesterday in regard to SWR's start and Duran's relief appearance today? Why the reference to yesterday in regard to Wallner's spring a year ago? Asking for a friend who is a copy editor.
  11. If the ball no longer appears to be moving to the left or the right, nor up nor down, then it's about to smack you between the eyes. Put your glove up. I learned that one the hard way, but I bet it can be coached.
  12. A little of everything, then. You know the saying, "he can beat you in so many ways"? Well, there's a reverse of that too......
  13. This part of Rocco's quote takes on a different light in view of yesterday's flyball lost in the Florida sun.
  14. Old-timey scouts used to look for certain traits in a prospect, such as the good face, or man hands.
  15. If Ty France doesn't come through like everyone here thinks he will, this team could easily sink to 81-81! Book it.
  16. My go-to GIF for this time of the year.
  17. Caden Kendle. Huh, that name didn't even ring a bell for me. If he is legit in CF then maybe the lack of power could be tolerated, but in his first taste of pro ball he played mostly the corners. Max Kepler without the power? It could be a short career....
  18. Quite the outlook for someone acclaimed as the team's 2024 MVP.
  19. If several of the players measure up to their potential, this team could win 100 this year. You can say that about perhaps a majority of teams, but not teams like the White Sox or Rockies or Athletics. Not with a straight face anyway. It's pretty easy to draw up a storyline where the Twins offense finally puts it together and the starting pitching stays on the reliable path that it's on and the bullpen pulls a few surprises along with the handful of pieces they already have. It Could Happen. This is the time for pleasant dreaming.
  20. I'm not sure whether even Ben's thighs were as solid as those forearms. 😀
  21. If your point is that ST numbers aren't indicative of the regular season, I would point out that on the morning of May 4 Julien had an OPS of .827 across 117 PA, playing every game the Twins were in. After that his OPS in the majors was .488. Yes, the 31st game represents a cherry-picked endpoint, and I have no idea if he slipped in the bathtub that next morning and damaged something - it's just to illustrate that he continued a good start to his year until one day he suddenly did or could not.
