  1. The scathing has apparently already commenced. Let's see if the TD interface permits a quick-change artist...
  2. Uncertain whether Carnac the Closer Avatar works the same way with Roenicke instead of Perkins, but I think I'd kick myself if I didn't try and something bad happens. / edit - with regard to Alison Stokke the internet-meme pole vaulter, I am not sure I should tempt fate while the current combo seems to be working
  3. I've tried Popeyes twice, once I had a basic breast of chicken or something, the other I tried a boneless offering. Neither one impressed me much either way, similar to KFC and others. I did enjoy their side dish of beans and rice, though it was not anything special, just a nice change of pace from other places' choices.
  4. I'm sure that you put together a fair case for the prosecution, but in the end even you had to agree that you had built a superior case to find in favor of you.
  5. Probably seemed like 45 to him.
  6. Figured it referred to some Depo-Provera subthread that I hadn't yet caught up on.
  7. What about the shooz?
  8. Thomas doesn't score from first on a ball that a catcher got to second on?
  9. Hey guys. Need a little Rally Avatar help?
  10. Got a meeting tonight so I will likely be scarce through the rest of this family entertainment.
  11. Here, you might like this one better, lemme check in the stockroom and see whether we have it in your size:
  12. We had one in leftfield who wasn't too good in the field. I hope this RF guy is better.
  13. I concur with the already-stated opinion that your post would have been just as clear without the including ridicule of another TD poster. I offer no opinion on bovine osculation.
  14. The phrase Tools of Ignorance may be about to make a comeback.
  15. Games like the one where the Twins beat Darvish make me feel good. I think a fan of the sport or of the team can find satisfaction if they look, even in a lost season. It's a beautiful sport and it's fun to root root root for the home team. Conversely, after another humiliating loss I find some satisfaction in looking at the reverse standings and thinking about the next draft. When the Twins end up with their lousy record, legitimately and without the stench of tanking, the draft will take care of itself. I also look at an aspect of sportsmanship when any bad team is playing a contender - the entire baseball world (including that contender) expects a representative lineup put forth. Nobody wants a playoff berth decided because, say, a team closed the season playing against some team giving 9 28-year-olds their cup of coffee before cutting them. Fortunately I don't recall a scandal like that ever occurring, and I wouldn't want it to be my team that was caught in the center of it. So yes, play the promising rookies and if they fall down in September 2013 so be it. But if these rookies play well and the Twins win some games unexpectedly, the forecast for 2017 (and sooner) with these players plus some #12 draft pick next June will be brighter than if they give evidence of washing out plus a #3 pick. So I'm not going to make a moralistic statement that it's "wrong" to root for losses, but I think it's actually against the fans' self-interest and thus wrong in a practical sense.
  16. Last year Reno beat Pawtucket for the AAA (PCL-IL) championship on September 18. Winning is a good thing, as is MLB experience, so it's a dilemma which way to root for.
  17. Chief already weighed in on this but I'll give an alternative shorthand meta-analysis: the hope is to add 100 points of OPS that catching takes away. Since the bar set for good defensive catchers probably is 200 points of OPS below other positions they would reasonably play, the same argument for most catchers would leave you with only a mediocre player at the new position. Not so for an elite hitting catcher like Mauer.
  18. Please tell us your view about Mr. Colabello before tomorrow's game too. In fact I would love to read it, again and again. Until something ever changes.
  19. 'Stros Just Wanna Have Fun.
  20. And of course now, Everyday Carnac, the Closer Avatar.
  21. "How ya like me now?"
