  1. Few will make that differentiation, integral though it may be.
  2. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-im_CKn9PPI8/T0dtSJ0lUFI/AAAAAAAAAzY/0vIyQ9SYpt4/s1600/abe-simpson-gif.gif One batter.
  3. Oh, you just figured out the Race Bannon - Jade thing, eh? Twins 5-3 in the middle of the 7th.
  4. See that nice pickup at third, Halsey?
  5. Pelf's contract expires at the end of this season so that rules him out.
  6. They're just copying the A's who did a similar thing with some pitcher whose ERA was 3.55.
  7. Plouffe comes through with a single for the lead! Dickbert suggested Nolasco was done for the day, presumably from watching the bullpen, but if it's me I send him back out for the 6th to earn his pay as an innings-eating workhorse. He's not that close to the mythical 100-pitch limit yet. Challenge him to pitch with the lead.
  8. I had to have someone explain to me why it was hilarious how Race and Jade would show up together in a way that surely pushed the censors' buttons for a kiddie show.
  9. Carlos Rodon. This could be interesting.
  10. Jonny Quest absolutely spoke to my 10-year-old soul.
  11. At your peril. He's not out of the running for a Quality Start, by the 6 IP 3 ER standard.
  12. Correct on the overturned single, which got an RBI anyway. The last out was on the batter trying to stretch the single into a double. Out by a lot, though the tag ended up being a little difficult to administer.
  13. No, it was genuinely close. Get to the bag before the runner does (you've got less distance to travel) and you give the ump a better shot at getting it right.
  14. I know there is difference of opinion, but I love Bratislava with sauerkraut and coarse ground mustard.
  15. Bad baserunning decisions by the ChiSox don't cost them as much as they should, and the Twins trail 2-0 in the middle of the second. CBU.
  16. Rocky start to Nolasco's second, as well, with men on second and third with no one out, but the slow bender for a called strike three and out number one was a beauty. / and then Nolasco is a bit sluggish to cover first on the next batter and fails to convince the ump he got the out - subsequently awarded on challenge
  17. Nolasco tiptoes the tightrope in the top of the first to escape scoreless. CBU. / edit - Noesi mows 'em down on six pitches, in his half.
  18. Concur, on the excellence of the ones you named. But for me the peak was the MGM series when Tex Avery was in the house. Droopy Dog, FTW! And don't forget Red Hot Riding Hood. (While a bit racy, I'm virtually certain I saw Red on Saturday Mornings now and then, making her eligible for this discussion.)
  19. Words to live by. I plus him every chance I get.
  20. I dunno, if the Mariners wanted to offer us Daniel Missaki for, oh, say, Tim Stauffer, I'd do it. He is young and his brief minor league career doesn't, to my eye, rule out him having a fine career. Maybe he was just in the zone last night, and his career will be determined by how frequently that proves to be the case going forward. Just one of the possibilities explaining last night. In any event I appreciate the eyewitness report and I'm glad to know JJ made the Lumberkings work for their nono.
  21. Since this is billed as a Get To Know article, I'd just like to add that during Spring Training I had the pleasure of chatting with his fiancee during one game. She confirms some of the things you said, such as his taking pride in his defense at first base. I have little doubt of Watkins' characterization of him as a good kid, either, just from talking with her. That kind of spring training experience causes a fan like me to want to follow his progress.
  22. JJ was in tonight's lineup at DH. He went 0-3 in the no-hit loss. Tough to guess if there's still rust/cobwebs to shake off, or if he was just part of a team facing pitchers who were totally on, or if it was simply an 0-3... such things do happen.
  23. None of the kindly ones were here, so I stepped up.
