  1. Zero......paying max type money on a guy who uses his legs exclusively is a high risk & teams are obviously nervous with him as he's still out there.
  2. without question, a solid solid deal that will ripple down the minors. It is curious tho how Ryans disdain for FA affected this as I believe he really wanted to use FA but wont pay the market price for a pitcher. Revere is an OK player (great speed/defense) but I was worried about his OBP as a fulltime leadoff hitter, so Im very happy to see him go. Truly think Mastro can do everything that Revere can....on a shortterm basis untill the Aaron Hicks era starts. With the AAA rotation full, & May not dominating AA....that's where I see him starting the year with Meyer. Agree or not?? More happy with the upcoming season now knowing that its getting ready for 2014 than trying to compete this year with the Florimon types in the lineup. Makes you wonder when the trigger is pulled on Justin/ WIlly
  3. are we sure TR wont top that last second not good when you're outbid for Joe Blanton
  4. Vasquez is done as a starter in AAA.....Martis wont start in ROC either, maybe NBrit or relief in AAA. Gibson will also start in AAA with the previous 2 joining in to eat innings for him. DeVries/Hernandez will start in ROC w/Hermsen starting in AAA. This is all assuming also (like I believe) that Liam Hendriks has the #5spot in the rotation to lose. BJ kinda go the short end of the stick IMO, but will see significant AAA time this yr & will make his MLB debut sometime this yr (barring injury)
  5. is it Hanahan or nothing now???
  6. 1yr 3m .....lives in PHO & sounds like that was the main reasoning as well as he's now the starter
  7. Frankie's 2012 First 6 starts 0W 5L 26.2IP 37h .346BAA .369Babip 28er 9.45era 6hr 21k 19bb .435OBP .589slgg 5 relief appearances Next 11 starts 3W 5L 66IP 45h .190BAA .252Babip 27er 3.68era 6hr 79k 29bb .283OBP .312slgg After Don Cooper fixed him 12gm 11st 3W 2L 56.2IP 54h .251BAA .311Babip 34er 5.40era 7hr 58k 32bb .355OBP .405slgg WHY would MN take a shot on someone who you have NO idea what you're getting from start to start
  8. doesnt Butera have Gardy's spot right now for #1 manlove on the squad.....dont need competition
  9. Holland's contract is spectacularly good for whatever team has him......bad for him tho
  10. Twins would always say they dont spend in FA when they are good as they dont want to mess up their chemistry/roster Twins say they dont want to spend in FA when they are bad cause they are too far away from contending. Twins just dont like spending in FA period.
  11. no question to me that Meyer will be up this yr......I would guess July 31st we will deal a Liriano/Saunders type retread & we'll see him then. I would predict we'll see Meyer in New Brit for 2-3months & with success a month or 2 in ROC.
  12. lot of people love Keppinger.....never really got that with him tho he's a solid utility guy. Assume he's their starting 3B??
  13. I don't think he is an ace, but I agree that he is a perfect fit for what we are (should be) looking for. Young, team control through 2014-2015 (when we should be back competing again. I think there is a huge advantage for a pitcher to get out of Texas. His numbers would look much better with half his games played at Target Field. Does it seem that all of the SP we have heard rumors about are lefty? Let me rephrase my comments on Holland......I dont think he's an ace right now......but I believe he will become one soon. So my thoughts are more of a prediction on a 26yr old that really impresses me.
  14. I am holding to my Holland is an ace view (or a strong #2type on a good team). I am a huge fan of his. There is nothing to not like about him. Young (26), throws hard (93mph fastball in 12), strikeout pitcher (7.4 last 2 yrs), great contract, lefty, postseason success......nothing to not like. With KC interested & having Will Myers to dangle.....chances are slim if they want him first. Doubt Ryan would dangle anyone of prospect status in top 4/5. Not gonna happen, but this would be MY great offseason move!!
  15. Depends if you view Morneau as the former MVP OR as the guy from last yr?? I would personally love to deal him and get Parmellee to 1B. This opens up RF for Arcia/Hicks/Benson etc for whenever they are ready. Would be stunned if Balt would trade any of top 2 pitching prospects for anyone......not sure of who they have after that.....Chris Tillman would excite me out of their starters
  16. Holland IS signed for 4yr 26m with 2 team options of 11m......in 6 yrs you will NOT be able to get someone this good at that deal!!!!
  17. I have posted this several times since the offseason, Derek Holland is my absolute offseason grand slam acquisition!!!! He is gonna be a Cy Young candidate over the remainder of his career, especially if he gets out of Texas. He doesnt pitch well at home (5.34ERA career ) but very well on road (4.08.....3.50era last 2 yrs on road) Texas is currently without a C.....could the arbitration offer to Butera give MN the ability to send Doumit (among others) to TEX (had GREAT success with Napoli....very Doumit like) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
  18. First 3 are encouraging YES......Jurrgens has much upside left.....dont like Saunders, but he had had some decent success Pavano & Liriano are also 2 of the 7 contracts they have offerred......whats Kevin Slowey up to these days?? Im telling ya....they made offers to the first 3 that are just good enough to be turned down & Ryan/MN will do the 'we tried' approach & will settle for nothing of importance out of this rotation. Ryan already knows his 2014 rotation is gonna consist of Diamond, Gibson, Meyer, Hendriks & maybe Appel, so he wont offer anything of length to the real pitchers & will be content to do 1yr deals with the leftovers.
  19. Ryan has already announced they will not add any more middle infielders to the roster & will go to camp with the 4 competing for playing time. AAARRRGGGHHHHH Gardy hated Hardy & was the #1 reason he was dealt......no other reason
  20. cannot imagine the backlash that will happen if they resign Liriano. As TopGun said......it makes sense after they offerred Butera arbitration as they have to find sometime for him to catch. MN/Ryan are complaining about how teams are overpaying for pitchers BUT all that is happenning is the market is set higher than TRyan will pay. If they do a couple sloths as pitchers like Liriano/Saunders.....are we looking at a 75/80m payroll as Terry has stated that he is not messing with the everyday lineup by signing more guys.
  21. Not sure.....believe you can take more than 1 Rule V player correct? If they can, I believe they will
  22. Other than Hanahan/Chavez....who will now go back to NYY....who else is there? They wont spend on Youk/Reynolds as Gardy isnt an OBP guy but rather an old school BAve guy. Ryan also said Tue that our 4 current middle infielders are the ones that Mn will go to spring training with. arghhhhh!!!!
  23. Makin the prediction on first pitcher acquired will be a trade for Ricky Nolasco. We will include a semi solid prospect like Salcedo and/or Benson types & instead of Miami including cash....Mn will instead send Nick Blackburn to South Beach
  24. Ive said it before.....MN/Terry Ryan are very good at making an offer that is just not good enough to get a player but appear they are interested....which they never were at those prices. Until they change this perception, only the sheep will actually believe that they will do something. They hit some nice cheap deals last winter, but thats all they are interested in. Even now, Ryan isnt gonna get into a bidding war for even a Brett Myers type. Even more-so than this, Im frustrated by the middle infield & the refusal to address it.
  25. Would have absolutely no problem signing McCarthy. Have been very intrigued by his turnaround, which he credits to studying the new ptiching metrics & changing his pitching style. Dont think that 'pitching friendly' Target Field will help as its showing itseld to NOT be a pitchers park....but pretty neutral. What I hope is they dont go 1yr deals on everyone they sign but actually look towards the future for some/any of these guys. Brandon would immediately have the hottest Twins wife tho
