  1. On occasion Eddie's recklessness reminds me of Carlos Gomez with the Twins (without the speed). Somehow that is part of his charm. I do agree that eventually we need an OF replacement for him. An unproven rookie isn't the answer for a team that should be competing for division titles. I can see a rookie being mentored and weaned in LF next year behind a veteran FA signing, such as Kevin Millar mentioned by an earlier post. I'd like to see Eddie moved after this season, maybe for some 3B depth to protect JD.
  2. They reduced the number of games he was to work in recent years, which may have contributed to his occasional lack of inspiration lately. But I thought the chemistry between him and Dick Bremer was special. They seemed to genuinely enjoy working and having fun with each other. That chemistry, along with Bert's combination of humor and expert knowledge, will be hard to replace. May you have many more happy years and hotfoot victims Mr. Blyleven!
  3. Why not try Yasiel Puig?...
  4. The way Berrios has pitched isn't going to earn him an ace contract extension he (or rather his agent) believed he deserved. Maeda and Dobnak have outpitched him. And Pineda, who arguably had become our best starting pitcher last year, returns soon. Hopefully Berrios (and Odorizzi) can get on track - we need more from them if we hope to have any playoff success.
  5. Repeating my post from a week or so ago, but I think James Rowson's role in the success of the Bombas may be underestimated. An earlier post mentioned Royce Lewis. Might he be our righty CF option, or are the Twins locking him in as an infielder?
  6. Anybody remember James Rowson?..
  7. I'm not sure I would count on Arraez as regular 2B (on defense) for another run to the playoffs, nor a group of Rochester relievers. As much as I like the OF, maybe Eddie could be moved to bolster those areas. We have Alex K about ready at AAA for a corner, with Marwin and Cave as insurance.
