    This is a nice idea. This is something that I would consider if I lived closer. We only make it there a couple weekends a year. This year the schedule is very friendly with only two weekends with back to back home series. I haven't checked recently but do the Twins still have the season ticket sharing? I was thinking a few years ago you could search for season ticket groups that are looking for partners. I am fortunate to be a part of a pretty massive group with seating sections located in different areas of the stadium with packages mainly consisting of 2 tickets per game for 10 games or 4 tickets per game for 5 games.

    The only concern I have with Meyer is that the few times I checked the AAA box score, it seems like he threw a lot of pitches and would barely get 5 IP. I will be the first to admit I did not read every box score or every overview each time he pitched. That was just the tendencies I noticed from occasional readings. I am a big fan of his and I hope he gets a spot in the rotation. However, I have a feeling Milone gets it and we see Meyer in AAA to start the year.

    Personally, I feel that it is Milone's job to lose with May starting the season in the bullpen as a long man/spot starter and Meyer starting in AAA. I would expect to see Meyer in June. Now injuries could happen and it could be an injury on another team. I think they dangle Pelfrey to see if anyone bites. That being said, I would expect to see a lot of him early in spring training as an audition for other teams. I wouldn't expect to get much for him even if we pick up some salary.

    I agree with your predictions. The only difference I would have would be May in bullpen for Graham. I can see working out a trade to keep him though.

    Thanks. I was thinking the penalty wasn't very severe. Its too bad it isn't more severe because that approach doesn't seem too bad. Granted, not all will make it but if one or two make it, it is worth the slap on the wrist.

    What is the penalty for going over? Didn't the Cubs, Rangers, and Yankees go way over in the past couple years?

    I think he will get it together. I also think by the time he gets it together, he will be wearing a different uniform like Gomez did. Side note, love the powder blue uniform in the Joe Mauer pic. Those never get old.

    Wasn't Parmelee removed from the 40 at one point last year and went unclaimed? I hope for the best for him. It was disappointing to see him rake in AAA and fail to make the transition to big league pitching.

    If the Twins were to sign Santana, which pick would be lost? Are the comp picks and competitive balance picks protected?

    I would be happy to grab de la Rosa, Garcia, Graham, or to a lesser extent Deshields. I think any of the three pitchers could be stashed on the roster and could contribute a little bit this year. Garcia would be the most interesting just based off his young age.

    I am wanting to keep Plouffe but it doesn't hurt to listen to offers on him. If you are blown away by an offer, you take it, if not, we keep a solid 3B.

    I tend to agree with the article and many of the previous comments. Is there room to take a risk on a guy who could bounce back from injury? Sure there is. Is there room for an impact arm? Sure there is. Is there room for a seasoned veteran who will mainly be an innings eater? Here is where I say no. If we are not going to gamble on a guy who may or may not bounce back from injury or sign an arm that will push the rest of the rotation to be better, then why bother? At some point, we need to get a good look at what May, Meyer, Milone, Darnell, and possibly depending on how the first part of his season goes, Barrios. Voglsong and Volquez and who ever else falls into the retread section really does not provide the roster any value. Like the article states, we don't know how serious they are in these guys but lets hope it isn't very serious.

    There is no logical reason for the Twins to consider Ryan Vogalsong. He has absolutely zero roster value. He can give us innings? So can May, Meyer, Darnell, Milone. I am ready to see a little bit of the future.

    I don't have the info in front of me at the moment but I know Uggla, Victorino (twice IIRC), Jose Bautista, and Josh Hamilton are some hitters. I was thinking Werth was also but not for sure. Soria, Santana, Alfredo Simon, and Dickey are some recent pitchers. All of these guys turned out to be all stars. I am sure there are others too that I missed. It is a pretty good low cost gamble to take.

    If you weren't associated with the Twins, would you buy tickets (single game or season) to watch this product? And why?

    I know Mike Maddox has been brought up from time to time as a possible manager but does anyone else find it a bit odd that the Rangers didn't consider him a finalist? If any team should know what they have in him, it would have been the Rangers.

    What does lower attendance mean to both you and the rest of the front office? Do you feel the front office along with Terry Ryan and given Gardy and the next field manager enough major league talent to win? How is the front office better prepared to put a better product on the field?

    No need to trade prospects for Hisashi Iwakuma. He is a FA. They better pursue him hard. His last couple of outings weren't good but he had a solid year.

    Personally, I think it is time to clean house. I would love it if Anderson, Ullger and Vavra were just fired. I don't think Gardy could function without them on his staff so he might as well go too. Its time for some new blood.

    My original question was to this comment. To which Brock answered and I agree with this answer. If you want to go back to the early mid 2000s. The twins had a good core. Back with Pierzynski, Mientkiewicz, Rivas, Guzman, Koskie, Hunter, Jones, Stewart, followed by Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer. Ryan was able to supplement Bartlett and Castillo, Kubel when that core dissolved. Koskie and 3B were the only position they really weren't able to replace. When Koskie left, FA 3B were scarce. Beltre and Glaus signed a big deals the same year Koskie did. I think Casey Blake signed the year Smith signed Lamb. A-Rod signed in there too but we wont get into that. In 2009, Smith signed Crede. Other than that, it was slim FA classes between 2006-2009. Maybe Ryan would have signed a bat to DH in those years, but for the most part, they were set in most positions. Radke and Santana were in the rotation so they had their "aces". IIRC, in 2007 the Twins signed Mauer, Morneau, and Cuddyer and picked up Hunter's option. Ryan stepped down in 2007 and Smith took over in 2008. In 2008, they signed Morneau, Cuddyer, and Nathan long term. Having the new core signed long term, Span ready to debut, I don't blame them for the offer they made to Hunter and trading Santana. They were more concerned with keeping their young core than Hunter and Santana. They also had a young Baker, Blackburn, Slowey, and Perkins along with Liriano coming off TJ. To me, the mistake took place in the Garza trade. That was made out of desperation. With a little patience, however, the Santana trade could have worked out.
