  1. Watkins gets a lot of crap. But he's MUCH improved over previous years. He is getting more aggressive (again) so there are going to be outs. But I'm glad he's 3b coach.
  2. Last year this team was far worse than they looked on paper, mostly because they were able to completely wipe up against the worst teams in the league, thereby padding their record. As with many seasons, they had a problem getting completely destroyed by the better teams, barley scraping out any wins against the likes of the Yankees, Dodgers, etc.. (though they did get one or two). We'll see if they can manage to go 500 against the elite teams this year. If the Tigers have entered that category, they'll get more chances than before to show they aren't a mirage. While there are more than 100 games to go, we'll see how the teams that contributed to their win streak ultimately fare but it is heartening to think that they can also annihilate teams that are a step up above the worst in the league.
  3. Do the other teams happen to include the Rockies, White Sox, and Angels?
  4. If it weren't for Correas recent string of singles over the past several days, I'd say that Ryan Fitzgerald could even be an offensive upgrade.
  5. The lineup is posted for today. No Buxton, Correa, or Bader. Good thing Kiersey and Clemens are learning to hit home runs. We might need continued production from the bottom of the 9.
  6. Glad to see someone other than Gasper get a chance. Hopefully he's a more than another AAAAer.
  7. I just heard that Buxton is leaving baseball. He just took a job as the new drummer for Spinal Tap.
  8. On the radio, they say it is likely related to a play in game 1 where he jumped into the wall.
  9. It seems to make sense that they could build stadiums with a few dozen hotel rooms for traveling teams, but I think they stay in hotels. Maybe the super ultra rich players have condos in multiple towns, but that sounds like more work than it's worth.
  10. Both Clemens and Keirsey have contributed winning runs in recent games. It isn't unheard of.
  11. Ok. I guess that doesn't count today's 0-4. But still. A bit harsh.
  12. I wouldn't call two hitless games a slump. He's hitting .333 in May.
  13. Having been a Twins fan over the past year, I can totally commiserate with Orioles fans right now.
  14. It will settle down a little with time. Many AL central teams have played a large proportion of their series' against teams like the Orioles, Angles, Rockies, and (obviously) the White Sox. The Tigers look legit though.
  15. They need to beat the bad teams, and they have. They took 2 of 3 from Boston, which seems to be an OK to good team. But man I'd feel a whole lot better about their recent success if they had just taken one more from Cleveland.
  16. I presume you are referring to this:
  17. And the White Sox will be 44% of the Twins' wins. OR 50% if they manage to pull this one off somehow.
  18. Stop trying to make us optimistic. Part of the joy of baseball is wallowing in the awfulness. Nobody wants to be a middle-of-the-pack team.
  19. Nobody wants to watch a doubleheader between these two teams. Best case scenario was that they called the game after five innings.
  20. Y'all like to hate on Rocco, but the way this team hits you might as well put everyone's name in a hat and draw out batting orders and pinch hitters at random, regardless of platoons and matchups. Bride was probably just as likely to drive in Vazquez as Correa, Julien, Buxton, Larnach, etc... This team is really amazing in that way. Everyone is equally as good.
  21. Welp. Looks like it was to SS, not 2nd.
  22. Couldn't find any wood to knock on fast enough.
  23. Didn't the Royals come back from the bottom of the barrel to win a WS a few years back? They realized that they sucked because they were all addicted to Candy Crush. Ditched their phones and took off.
