  1. Guys I'm pretty sure you can trade a rule 5 pick after the rule 5 draft....isn't that how we got Johan Santana and 50,000 for Camp....
  2. Santana at SS and Vargas implosion were also on the list right....
  3. The other cool thing about Robinson is there is no temptation to play him too much.
  4. Last year we needed OF defense. This year we have it and you want to watch some leave??????
  5. The thing is you need to make trades of prospects for players or players for players. Teams rarely trade prospects for prospects.
  6. If we could package him with say Nolasco and another prospect maybe Zack Jones to SD for Norris and Benoit. ..I think the hardest part of this trade is the last year on Nolasco contract otherwise it could work.
  7. I'm a little bummed. I think Torii had a legitimate hall of fame shot with 1500 RBI. He's 110 or so away. And yes that's along way off but I think he had a chance with 2 more seasons with 800 or so at bats.
  8. I disagree with the article. When Terry Ryan makes a trade, They usually turn out in our favor. Getting Escobar for 2 months of Liriano was a heist. May for Revere is turning into a good one. Most of the acquisition the article laments were actually good lower cost moves that worked out. From using the Stat lines from the article is that we don't trade for core players and so what if we don't do that.
  9. I don't look at the pay as much as the results. If he can hit .290 with .350 obp then he should hit 2nd am he can be maximized. There will be better players but we can live with that especially since we have a shortage of on base guys. Problem is he didn't hit with bases empty...will that normalize going forward....I don't expect Mauer to be a superstar. But we need better than .260 with 10 hr moving forward.
  10. I agree we should have signed him. I disagree with playing him over better players. Our window of contention is now open. ..we need to take advantage of all opportunities to put the best player on the field. Although he was on of a few with a decent obp. I am willing to go 1 more season to see if he can approach. 300 again.

  13. My concern is their going to trade Plouffe When they could put Sano at 1B and have Mauer backup 1B and DH. But if Mauer can hit .300 fine. Trading Plouffe won't sting as much but I doubt it at this point.
  14. If Sano moves from DH then we have a whole at DH. While we have Arcia and Vargas, I think that is why the Twins want Hunter back. To DH 110 -115 games and play in RF 30-35.
  15. I wasn't so much thinking of Shields trade as much of trading Nolasco and getting a contract in return.
  16. Plouffe also kind of reminds us of Koskie as the story is similar. But I feel anyone should be tradeable as Terry Ryan try to set this team up the best he can. Our window to win is now open. I am curious to see how this winter plays out. ...... I wonder if we could trade Plouffe, Hicks, and Nolasco in a trade with San Diego for Shields. ..some balancing out with prospects...
  17. I don't like the idea of trading Plouffe at this point but the Angels could use a 3B. If they can put together a good enough package to aquire him.
  18. If Sano is in the field then DH is open for Hunter to get the lion's share whill getting some time in RF.
  19. I was just gonna list a few of our rule 5 picks.... Johan Santana...sort of, Shane Mack....we can get a good player there. As far as our 5 FA, Hunter, Boyer, and Cotts should be resigned or will be. We can always release a reliever if need be. We should obviously sign one too. Hunter will be more important to sign if they trade plouffe. As he can DH. I'm curious to see if we get another starting pitcher for next season.
  20. I don't see how May is not first or second. He was their best starter by statistical measures the first half then shut down reliever the second half. And he was up the whole season.
  21. I think TR has done an excellent job of positioning this team to contend for several years to come. Very few of his moves fail. Most succeed. If you write off his first 7 years as gm when he had real budget issues then look at his record it's much better. Moving into the offsets on we don't have that much to do. Resign Hunter, maybe Cotta and Boyer, find one more reliever, find a catcher, and someone who can get on base. TR will step aside when he feels like it and not sooner. Nor should he. There isn't anyone one else I would rather see as gm.
  22. Also I like that there are several deserving.candidates for.twins rookie of the year.
  23. Doesn't May still qualify as a rookie this year? He has to be at top of atlas the pitchers. Wasn't he statistically speaking our best starter when he was moved to the pen?
