  1. Spineless for the Twins to say they were in on Darvish and come up with nothing. I prefer Ryan telling us they are trying to do something but be more vague about it.
  2. I never want to hear the Twins say they are in on a player in free agency until after they sign them cause they are full of crap till they do. They will never go for it. I was giving Lavine and Falvey rhe benefit of the doubt but today we can see they are Ryan 2.0 with some stats but no spine.
  3. If the Twins sign Napoli, it's because he is a right handed Vargas in a left-handed leaning line up. And Napoli brings more balance to it. And that is worth several million more at the same time. I'm sure veteranness factors into monetary and signing value too. Vargas has the power and build to be a monster but doesn't go beyond league average, even with the 450 foot HR. I prefer to give Vargs one more shot but I'm more ambivalent on that matter and more on the sign Darvish and trade for Archer bandwagon.
  4. I think Derek Rodriguez has a chance to be a serviceable pitcher in the bigs. Too bad he was buried behind so many pitchers and went to the Giants.
  5. Mammoth mountains are only a few hours drive from soutgern CA. Lots of snowmobiling, snow boarding and skiing there. No ice fishing though.
  6. Side note Ca state income tax is 13.3 percent with the crazy liberals trying to push it to 15, compared to Minnesotas 10. So that is not the main factor either. Were down to weather, japenese population and media spotlight and money. Which of those do you think is most important? Crazy thought, if we include Kepler in a trade for Archer would signing Ichiro as a backup help move the needle?
  7. "Jon Heyman in MLB trade rumors has stated that there’s “reason to believe” that neither the Brewers or the Twins are a top choice for Darvish, though, so either team could perhaps need to be more aggressive in order to land him." I view this type of info as posturing and leveraging. All things being equal Darvish would like LA or Texas but Minnesota can offer a nice place, good for family, winning environment. He may prefer a place with a larger Japenese population or more media, but as a married with Children man, Minnesota isnt a horrible destination either. He probably views Minnesota as a 6 or 7 on the 10 point scale. LA and Texas as 9s.
  8. Darvish throws 6 different pitches. As long as he is not injured he will be atleast a serviceable pitcher the 5th and 6th year of his contract. Just add the 6th year and get insurance on the contract...
  9. I would imagine a 4 year iffer would have a higher AAV. A 5 year is probably in the 22 million.
  10. So he signs tomorrow right?.....
  11. It looks like Duffy is the fall back option if he is stretching out to start. If we get Darvish, and we should get to skip the 5th starter a few times during the first month of the season. These 2 things will lessen the blow considerably. With Hughes and May comming back from injury, we should have plenty of depth, once they are ready to go. We are only thin to start the season. This makes it more important to sign a high end pitcher. Also, too bad we didn't resign Colon to the minor league contract as that is the type of signing that is perfect for a few starts at the beginning of the season. If needed maybe we can find an emergency starter via waiver wire towards the end of spring. Lastly, I hope Mejia is ready to take a step forward and become a 6 inning pitcher....ok 5.33 inning pitcher this year...
  12. So what would the Braves want in a trade?
  13. The headlines should read Santana only out 10-12 weeks as he avoids tommy john yet again....
  14. Did they have any good campaigns back in the 87 to 92 seasons
  15. I dont have the stats to back this up but Santana has a history of being great for a stretch and garbage for a stretch. The last 2 seasons he has been more consistant. Still goes up and down but less down. Remember his first seaon here he had a great month with an era under 2 followed with an era over 8. Then finished the seaso almost as good as his first minth. He didnt do that the last 2 years as he has gained more consistancy throught season.
  16. For the record. Isnt target field making payments to Hennipen County for the funds to build the ballpark? And isnt the Twins making big chunks of extra payments too? And didnt the players all get a raise from new tax bill? I think labor should tell their constituents to see how next offseason plays out. If Harper or Machado dont make bank, then labor has a big arguement. But so far im seeing offers in expected ranges get rejected by players. That makes them the villans of the offseason.
  17. I got a great idea. Lets wait till next offseason to try to sign a pitcher when all of the big market teams are back in after resetting their luxury tax. Surely we will have a better chance to sign the best pitcher then....
  18. We could have 2 100 game winners and losers as well.
  19. Me: 42 years old, overweight and out of shape, 59 mph fastball and even slower changeup. These are the type of depth signings we should all be able to get behind.
  20. I would like to see if he turns a corner this season. He has the tools to succeed. I would like to see what the new minor league coaches can do with him.
  21. The week is almost up. Going to the last minute to sign with the Twins eh Yu. Maybe you can get a few more million out of the Team.
  22. I think a rh dh makes sense if we want to use Grossman to platoon with Kepler or Mauer or both. We had a hard time against lefties last year so it does make sense. I think whichever signs a minorleague deal and dukes it out with Vargas can have the contract.
  23. I think they should start with fewer measures to speed up the game. I am against the pitch clock. it is the past time for a reason... I am for a Dozier extention.
  24. Don't forget the other back up C from the 2013 draft who graduated to the majors last year as a rule 5 pick for the Reds Stuart Turner. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the other relievers from those drafts make it up to the majors at some point either as a solid option for a few seasons or for just a few outings.
