  1. Radio Guys are poor judges of English Language pro fishing tee.
  2. I had to stop and admire the simple brilliance of this post. Then I realized that I had stopped and I was getting nowhere.
  3. Post number 78 in this thread is mine.
  4. I like that the Twins have depth this year... options to try no matter the scenerio. They need to slow down on the eliminating of options.
  5. Young manager mistake if that is how he handled the question. I'll forgive him because it's part of the learning curve. It's like the 2nd year of marriage when you still think you can honestly answer questions from your wife. Like when she asks "if she can have that last donut and you say sure and she throws the donut at you because you were supposed to care if she had another donut. Not that that ever happened to me... I'm talking about other guys.
  6. It means very little Rhett reported it and you reported what Rhett reported. I'm hoping Molitor actually said "Heard it's nice back in Minnesota... Maybe that groundhog was right" and it was misheard as... "Sano will never play 3B as long as I'm drawing breath". In the end... It's me and it means very little.
  7. Yeah... I'm really hoping that Paul was a victim of Rhett Bollinger and DaveW journalism. I didn't like the "even on the days Plouffe sits" part. That inflamed it for me.
  8. Molitor made a mistake. Using Schwarber... Here's Theo doing a better job explaining a similiar situation. http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-still-dont-have-all-answers-kyle-schwarbers-future My personal opinion... I really hope Molitor is able to become a little like Maddon. Be resourceful and figure out how to get the best bats in the lineup. Someday that might mean playing Arcia in RF and Sano at 3B. It didn't hurt the Cubs last year and I don't think it hurt the Rays before that. I also don't believe that Maddon is the only Manager capable of doing such things. When Molitor gives absolutes like that. It scares me.
  9. I don't Believe this means The Twins don't think Sano can play 3B. I think it means the Twins believe that he can play RF. With that said... Please Mr. Molitor...don't deliver absolutes like that.... Eliminating options can be counter productive. There was no reason to say that publicly.
  10. Nolasco was necessary... Nolasco was impossible to escape. The Twins had no choice at the time. Deduno was our best pitcher... We needed 5 starters. The Twins could not stand still because Deduno was our best pitcher at the time. They had to pay the price. Tanaka was the top FA pitcher that year and the Yankees grabbed him for 155 million. The Twins can't spend 155 million on one pitcher when Deduno is your best pitcher and even if they did... It would most likely take more than 155 million to sign him because Deduno was your best pitcher and Tanaka would have preferred to pitch with others who can compete with him... At least you would imagine he would. Also... It was a horrible FA SP class that year. Nolasco was near the top of the available pile. I won't use Nolasco and Hughes as an example of conservative or bad decision making. Nolasco was an example of what has to happen when Deduno was your best pitcher the year before.
  11. I'll take it I'm good with 8 out of 9
  12. I will not give up on Vargas... As long as the ball leaves his bat at 339 MPH... I will not give up on Vargas.
  13. I'm trying to be optimistic by comparing his upcoming adjustment to Kang. By The way... It took me three times to get "Kang" typed into this post. The first 2 times... Auto Correct changed it to Kangaroo. Auto Correct must have thought I meant Luke Hughes.
  14. I agree I wanted to add to that discussion so I would have been the guy who would have driven it off track. So I started another topic. It's on me... Not you It's all good.
  15. April will be here soon... Gotta get ready. I don't have a calender but it can't be far off because my wife was recently disappointed on Valentine's Day again.
  16. I love Joe.. So this isn't a Mauer knock but for these reasons. 1. I like a couple of good hitters in front of a guy who would be the best at clearing the bases. (Sano) 2. Joe's approach is perfect for the 2 spot... Patient... Good contact... Opposite way ability for the hit and run. 3. Joe will hit a little bit more 4. Joe has two kids 5. Joe wants to hit 3 and we pay enough that he shouldn't get his way. 6. With his blurry vision he won't be able to tell the difference between a 2 and 3 on the lineup card
  17. I thought Garages just came with the house! You mean... Something actually built them? Just another example of why America is better than Canada.
  18. I know the topic has been raised before but in order to keep this discussion on topic. I created a new Market Size/Revenue Discussion Now back to the Broken System debate Go Twins!!!
  19. i'll start by saying that Money doesn't always mean a championship and I think there is enough money floating about that any team can be competitive. Not at the Dodgers or Yankees level but enough to be competitive for any club. But let's ask these questions: Why did the Orioles fight to keep the Expos out of Wasnington DC? If they can't get a new stadium and the Tampa market sucks... Why don't the Rays just move to Portland or San Antonio if they are willing to build a new stadium. It's because the owners get significant revenue from the larger markets without baseball. Seattle would fight the move of any franchise to Portland because Portland increases their broadcast footprint and the amount of money they make in a TV deal. Houston and Texas would fight any move to San Antonio or New Orleans or Austin or Waco. Here's another question: What's the 2nd biggest market in Twins Territory? Rochester? Duluth? Sioux Falls? Fargo? All fine communities but nowhere near the population of Louisville or Tucson. The Twins are a small market team. You can't just look at the mid-teen DMA rankings of the Twin Cities and say it's a myth. Discuss
  20. LOL... Yeah I know But... Part of thing that makes baseball so beautiful. Sometimes the first 1,000 AB's have nothing to do with the next 1,000. Lots of examples of players taking advantage of a starting spot and running with it. Probably more examples of it not happening but plenty of examples of it happening. I fully admit using Bautista as an extreme example and it should be taken for what it's worth. Long Live Baseball!!!
  21. Unless you are Jose Bautista circa 2010rOr Justin Turner circa 2014
  22. I like Mauer in the 2 and I like Dozier in the middle of the lineup so I gotta put someone in the 1 and I'm running out of options because the Twins are just not currently OBP strong. That's the only excuse I have.
  23. I did qualify my placement of Escobar in the lead off spot by saying that the Twins don't have a true lead off hitter. So I'm putting Escobar there by default. Until Buxton proves himself. I'm ok with Mauer in the #1 spot but like String... I'm old school... I like a real fast guy in the lead off spot. I like a base threat. I know he is only guaranteed to lead off in the 1st inning but I like guys who are disruptive with wheels. Mauer looks at a lot of pitches and goes the other way well and I like him in the 2 hole for that reason. It gives the speed guy a chance to do something and get in a pitchers head and increases the possibility of a mistake to Mauer. But... I don't advocate putting in a speed guy lead off without OBP skills. Not a lot of those guys out there right now. Dee Gordon might be the only one. Maybe Altuve. Dozier in the 5 hole is almost like a 2nd lead off spot if Park clears the bases 60 times this year. I also like the worst hitter batting 8th ala Tony LaRussa. If my #1 hitter can really hit like we want Buxton to hit. I'd like a little momentum out of the 9th spot when the lineup turns back over. I realize that metrics may not support any of this but I am who I am.
  24. Jeez String You pulled that right out of my head somehow because I lock step agree with you.
  25. I won't call for your head.... You can manage my team. But... I'm bummed because I'm dying to see Park.
