  1. I agree I look at the roster as it stands right now and it looks like we need to rent a decent defensive CF. Either until Buxton is ready or as Buxton insurance in case he hits .175 for two months. I thought Hicks would serve that role wonderfully. I understand that we needed a catcher and my concern is that we gave up too much for too little out of desperation for a catcher. And this stuff happens when you have a need like this. When the trade happened... It reminded me of Capps for Ramos. We needed a closer (desperately... I don't know) and we over paid for a mediocre one. I'm gonna do my best to assume that Murphy has been well scouted... Was the 1st choice target and I'm gonna assume they were right and let Murphy prove my gut right or wrong. My gut has been both over my lifetime. On Bethencourt. The Braves didn't get much. It would have been incredibly easy for the Braves to keep him on the 25 man roster. They chose not to. I'll pass.
  2. I get that Bethencourt is out of options and that is an issue for teams. But the Braves looked at that and said... He's not ready and let him go. Keeping AJ and Flowers instead. The Braves who are getting younger by the millisecond gave up the younger guy. Makes me stop and think and I haven't stopped and thought for awhile.
  3. 1. New Yankees Clubhouse Rule that states players can only have two names. 2. Cashman got drunk and called Terry Ryan and said "Hey Ryan... I gotta Ryan for ya" Terry Ryan was also drunk and replied back "I'll take him" And then one of their secretaries overheard the conversation and called it in. While they both slept it off.
  4. I'm not sure how I feel about Hicks for Murphy but I'm willing to give Murphy the benefit of the doubt and decide on how I feel about him later. As for the discussion on waiting for Bethencourt to become available because he is better than Murphy. I don't know who is better but I have a question in my head. Why would the Braves trade him? The Braves who are stockpiling every young player they can find. The Braves who signed both AJ and Tyler Flowers so they didn't have to play the younger Bethencourt. The Braves who have Ryan Lavarnway in AAA as the next man up. Why would the Braves trade him? If the Braves are willing to trade him... It would make me not want him.
  5. I'm Hopeful and that's as far as I'll go. I'm hoping Molitor will be able to make a decision between Arcia and Nunez and make the best decision. Hoping I don't always get what I want
  6. Random Thought I have both Sano and Kris Bryant as keepers on my Fantasy baseball team. I'm grateful that Kris Bryant is also OF eligible and... Bryant is OF eligible because Joe Maddon moved him to the OF for enough games to qualify. Maddon did the same thing with Schwarber and it didn't kill Bryant or Schwarber or the Cubs. I'm also happy that Sano might have OF eligibility because that flexibility is helpful to me as a fantasy team owner and It was also helpful to the Cubs and... It will be helpful to the Twins. Maybe just maybe we can get our best bats in the lineup... Maybe
  7. It's still depth unless someone declares that... (Insert player here) will never play... Let's say 3B again. The Twins would never do that because it makes no sense. That would be like taking a career catcher and moving him to 1B and saying he will never play catcher again. The Twins just wouldn't do that.
  8. There is no reason to trade Trevor Plouffe. Unless you get something back that improves the Twins in 2016. Trading Plouffe for prospects only weakens the Twins in 2016. The Twins need to think about strengthening in 2016 at the major league level. I see the logjam... We all see the logjam but logjam is just a fancy word for depth. (French I think). Thinking in terms of starter only is short sighted... It's a long year... 162 games (hopefully more). Someone is going to struggle... Someone is going to get hurt. Having Plouffe and Sano and Park and Mauer is a good problem to have. I'm glad Terry Ryan isn't thinking... "3B...1B... DH... Thats 3 spots and 4 players. Well... Someone has to go". Because that would exhibit the creativity of a turnip. A good manager will figure out how to get people at bats. I'm hopeful and quite sure that Molitor isn't saying to Terry Ryan. "Gosh... This is too hard... I've got 4 players for 3 spots... I didn't sign up for this... Nowhere in my contract does it say I'd have to make tough decisions every single day. Do not trade Plouffe for prospects.
  9. I get it Kab... I just think Hicks has lots of upside with all those tools. Does he reach the lofty heights? Who knows. However... In all honesty. I was encouraged by Hicks this past season. Yet... He still hasn't shown me that spark of all out play like Rosario did.
  10. Murphy won't be asked to close games either and they spell and pronounce their names totally different and they probably have different tastes in music. However... In terms of upside?
  11. On the surface the trade makes sense. Quite simple actually... Trade from a position of depth to acquire a position of need. However... That is exactly how you end up with a Ramos for Capps type deal. I'm willing to give "ran calling wildfire" Murphy a chance so I'm not upset with the deal but it has a Ramos for Capps feeling for me right now.
  12. To me he looks like Super Dave Marty Funkhouser
  13. KIDS? Give them to me... Those little buggers just don't have enough money to afford a beer and a dog.
  14. The superfluous "U' in honor means that Canada takes a little bit long to write or type the word. This has led to a decline in Canadian productivity.
  15. Corporate owned and they have failed to make a decent enough sale to spiff the client.
  16. The Strike Zone has been huge so far.
  17. I think North keeps track of that
  18. Being a free country and all I suppose but they won't.
  19. I think he's the best defensive 2B in the game unless I can think of someone better.
  20. I'd Ick or Ish that but I don't which one to use... So I'll have to wait for ChiTown or JB to make a declaration.
  21. Starting with defense is a good way to start
  22. All Right Gang I've got my eye black on
  23. Most I'd say. Even if they come hard out of the gate... MLB pitching eventually figures it out. Very Few players hit on day one and keep hitting. That's why I'm not worried about Buxton or Vargas for that matter. It's also why I worry about Rosario and Sano because that stretch hasn't happened to them yet.
