I'm hoping to see it. I've always like my baseball with a little attitude regardless if it is justified. It never really is. What i'd really like to see is Mauer in the First At Bat in the First Inning... Just drop the bat and charge the pitcher for no reason at all. Before a pitch is even thrown. The Pitcher and Catcher won't expect it. Better Yet... Have Mauer charge the pitcher from the on-deck circle before Dozier even sees the first pitch.

The Twins kick off a 4-game series with the hated Chicago White Sox tonight. I say hated with complete disregard for everyone else’s opinion. I say hate because I hate them. Hate comes at various levels and I realize that some of you may be indifferent to the White Sox but with me… I would unplug their life support in order to charge my phone. Any self-respecting sports fan should have a team that you hold the exact amount of unreasonable hate for another team as the amount of unreasonable love you have for your team. If you don’t… you are an unbalanced sports fan and you are the type of fan who can get pushed around by Ozzie Guillen types because both feet aren’t set. This balance is also necessary in regular life as well. I had to marry another woman that I hated as much as the wife I love. BTW… a 4-game series is awfully optimistic as of right now. I just saw the weather man predict 6 to 12 inches of snow at Target Field Friday night into Saturday. Strangely… no snow is being predicted for Target Center across the street. Here are some things to think about: 1. Top Non-Trump News Story (Or Stories): The Millcreek School District outside of Erie, Pennsylvania has distributed baseball bats to all 500 of their teachers. It was a mostly symbolic gesture but yet they were distributed with the intention of providing a last resort option to fight back with, in case they find themselves in the extraordinary situation of needing them to fight back with. Community residents were polled online, 70% were in favor of arming the teachers with bats. Among the 30% not in favor were the baseball coaches who have since cancelled practice because they lacked important equipment. 2. Our Twins: That was the defending world champions that came to town and left town losing the 3-game series. What a difference a year makes… I hate to bring up painful memories but last year at Target Field, the Astros swept the Twins 16-8, 7-2 and 17-6. That’s 40 runs allowed last year compared to 11 allowed this year. At that rate of improvement, next year Houston will score -18 runs. 3. The White Sox: Remember what the Astros did to us last year. It is exactly what we should do to the White Sox this year. These guys are still young and not ready yet. Four of the five starters in their rotation have ERA’s over 5. Yeah, I know… small sample size, but these ERA’s have been compiled against the Royals, Jays, Tigers and Rays. Only the Jays resemble a decent offense of that group and even that is questionable on paper. If there was ever a series that you didn’t want any games cancelled due to weather… this is it. A dominant series would stretch the first place lead and you want to play the White Sox NOW… not later when the young players get smarter. Send emails to your local weatherman… demand that they make adjustments to those computer models. 4. Today’s Joe M Conversation: Maddon: Guys… I don’t know how long I can keep making these early morning meetings to talk about nothing in particular. The travel is killing me… we got 162 games to play and every morning it’s back here just to hang out for a few minutes and then back to Chicago or Cincinnati or Pittsburgh or San Diego. My wife is really starting to question the logic of it. Montana: C’mon now… you don’t hear Mauer complaining and he does the same thing. Mauer: I complain… you guys just don’t lis... Morgan: If Joe can do it… so can you. None of us live here… we all have to travel. Maddon: I’m just saying… we could Skype or something, maybe a daily webinar. It would cut down on the travel. McCarthy: You always do the cooking… how would we? I mean… nobody else can cook. You can’t Skype Eggs Benedict. Maddon: Yeah, I get it… it’s just that the travel is expensive. Montana: What do you care? Mauer pays for it all anyway. Mauer: That’s what I’m complaining about it… I don’t see why I… Maddon: Yeah… you’re right… OK… today I’ve prepared… crêpes with caramelized pears. Morgan: Free meals always taste better. Mauer: They are not free… they cost me… Montana: Did you bring the beer? Mauer: Yes… here ya go. 5. Witness: Whenever a crime is committed, a conviction is much easier to attain with a witness. Whenever an accident occurs, a witness can provide unbiased details to help determine fault. Crimes, accidents and marriages... you need witnesses. ____________________ Lineups: WHITE SOX Yoan Moncada(S) 2B Avisail Garcia(R ) RF Jose Abreu(R ) 1B Matt Davidson(R ) DH Nicky Delmonico(L) LF Yolmer Sanchez(S) 3B Tim Anderson(R ) SS Omar Narvaez(L) C Adam Engel(R ) CF Lucas Giolito (R ) P TWINS Brian Dozier(R ) 2B Joe Mauer(L) 1B Miguel Sano(R ) 3B Eddie Rosario(L) LF Logan Morrison(L) DH Eduardo Escobar(S) SS Max Kepler(L) RF Byron Buxton(R ) CF Jason Castro(L) C Jose Berrios (R ) P Gametime forecast: Mostly cloudy, 47 deg F (feels like 43), 4% chance of precipitation, winds at 8mph from the NE. Article: HOU 2, MIN 0: Failure to Launch
Riverbrian replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lance Lynn: I thought he was fantastic last night. I think he did a great job keeping the ball out of danger and that is important against a team that can hit like the Astros can. Pitchers pitch out of the zone all the time. Houston didn't do a lot of chasing so it probably appeared like Lynn couldn't locate... I think he was and Houston didn't cooperate and this drove the pitch count up. Good teams try to drive the pitch count up on starters. Houston did it's job yet Lynn stuck to his guns and didn't allow a run against a good offense. I see no reason to be concerned with what transpired last night. Eddie Rosario: I think he needs a little work on situational approaches. He has tons of talent but his baseball IQ has always seemed slightly lacking. He has a history of going for third in the wrong situations, making unnecessary throws, swinging for the fence when simply making contact is more important, or making the wrong decision when to go for the ball or lay up. I contend this will get better and am not worried about Eddie because he is absolutely talented. Byron Buxton: I'm not worried at all. When he starts to heat up... he is going to make us proud. I hope he keeps working on pitch recognition so he chases less on outside breaking pitches. Logan Morrison: I think it's too early to be concerned. Mike Trout will go through similar stretches of lacking production during the season. Everybody struggles for stretches... it just seems louder when it happens at the start of the season. However... I am not liking his inability to adjust to the extreme shifting. I see no indication that he can adjust and I hope I'm wrong. If he can't adjust... he is going to hit. .210 this year because there will be a player standing everywhere he tends to hit the ball. I am perfectly OK seeing him on the bench from time to time so Grossman can get more starts until Morrison starts turning things around. Trevor Hildenberger: He had a nice bounce back inning but he has to locate. Doesn't have enough Gas to not locate. Too many pitches have been center cut this year in a small sample. I don't think it's reacting too soon to send him down to Rochester for a spell. This Twins team is Good... It's gonna be a fun year.- 77 replies

We had a Pizza Hut in Thief River Falls. Then Godfather's Came in... Just a couple blocks from the high school. Godfathers also had Donkey Kong. We were so spoiled. -
