  1. I'm pleased thus far, and it's easy for me because of how disappointing he was for forever, minus The Month. He's a great reminder that even in the age of advanced metrics, player evaluation is still like a box of chocolates.
  2. A hand grenade play like that is about 10x more likely to turn into an out than an error, but leave it to Dozie to beat the odds again...
  3. Am sure it's possible to see the movie and not be, but have no idea how..
  4. Plouffe might be using voodoo to steal doubles from Dozie. Anybody checked his locker lately for a Jobu doll?
  5. Ok to mention me by name. No such thing as bad publicity... http://hillnholler.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/ed-wood-and-bella-lugosi.jpg
  6. Uh oh... Dozie's homers to doubles ratio dropping fast...
  7. By not having 'Rat' as your last name? And probably by growing up and playing in California.
  8. Bill James, on A's 3b Carney Lansford's defense at the end of his career: "Steady as the Rock of Gibraltar, with about the same range".
  9. For a second it looked like 'taking Ethanol' to me, and my reaction was "It's Gibson tonight, not Correia, right?"
  10. Agree. The Ryan quote was intended to show how far Hicks' stock has dropped. Hard to believe that he's been in their system this long and now effort is suddenly an issue to Antony.
  11. ... or moves to consultant/guru/centurion/consigliere position.
  12. A year ago, Ryan had this to say about the decision to promote Hicks: The guy has earned it. I find it almost humorous that people are talking about service time, starting the clock. We didn't trade Span and Revere to stall the next guy. ... I can't ever feel guilt about stopping a guy that deserves to be there because I know if I put myself in that man's shoes, I would be severely disappointed. Are we trying to win, or what are we doing? Can you imagine if we sent somebody out that did what the kid did, and I had to look at Willingham and Morneau and Perkins and Mauer and those guys that are trying to win, and I'm going to stop that guy? I just don't believe in that. I hear this stuff. Not here. Even with the questionable concerns about players' feelings set aside, this was a puzzling stance to hold even before the Hick's Hindenburg-esque 2013 season started. At any rate, the point is that in about a year or so, Aaron Hicks has gone from inspiring his GM to publicly throw the concept of his service time out the window to playing so poorly that there is very little fan base concern about how long Hicks is a Twin or how much he will cost. That has to be tough on him.
  13. Maybe there wasn't a rush to refute this statement because it came late on Friday afternoon. Or maybe it's because Antony's body of work, dating back to his commendable yet regrettable decision to attempt to discuss advance metrics four years ago, has caused concern even among the fans most likely to give the front office the benefit of the doubt. The latter gets my vote after this latest Hicks outburst.
  14. Laudner floats the kooky notion that maybe it's not a good week to throw meatballs to DO...
  15. Cap'n Bly: "Hicks walked away like... a puppy dog"
  16. It was all done well, just trying to conserve internet space when Ortiz goes yard in extras.
  17. Parmsie takes down Godzilla!
  18. Yeah, always go with the curtain... http://blog.seattlepi.com/environment/files/library/6560064.JPG
  19. You had me at "almost got up"...
  20. Late again:http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/5dA3DePirsE/maxresdefault.jpg
  21. Guilty as charged. Let's talk fee.
  22. Dirt: 'Twins might need to conclude at some point what they have in Matt Guerrier'. It's like watching a slasher movie and trying not to talk back to the screen when the vapid blonde (m/f) says 'We're better off if we split up'.
  23. On the bright side, Pinto/Zukesie lineup still hasn't blown up the planet...
