  1. Royals outfield seemed confident that Vargas fly ball was unplayable. Nice to see his left-handed swing connect after scuffling from that side most of the way.
  2. I was with you all the way to the last word, and then you lost me.
  3. The 2017 edition will be here before you know it... http://apocalypstick.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Screen-Shot-2012-12-27-at-12.07.43-PM.png
  4. EscoBear! http://idahoptv.org/sciencetrek/topics/bears/images/garbage.png Aggressive base-leaning is his middle name.
  5. I like the kid, I'm rooting for him, and he's had a remarkable season at the plate, but when his offense fizzles out, Grossman will be taken away. From the starting lineup, at least.
  6. A Roman walks into a bar, holds up two fingers, and says, "Give me 5 beers".
  7. And if his .363 BABIP comes back to earth and clips a bunch of points off his OPS next year, he might be among the team leaders in negative RBI, or ORBO (Offensive Runs Batted Out).
  8. Follow up question: "So your priority was avoiding another loss, or are you just managing without ANY regard for developing young players?"
  9. Dick and Bert staged a mock walkout in tribute/sympathy tonight. To his credit, LaPanta has maintained an even amount of contempt for the Twins throughout the season, making it clear from the beginning that the whole thing is somewhat beneath him.
  10. So you'll be back tomorrow night? Ok, we'll hold you to that.
  11. Bremer actually managed to muster some disappointment and irritation on his call when the losing run scored, although not surprise, because not even Olivier or Brando could have pulled that off.
  12. Upgraded for Tommy Milone's mom's clippings collection under the refrigerator magnets.
  13. Milone avoids a wild pitch on the intentional walk, and a part of me is disappointed.
  14. Watching extra innings of a 100 loss Twins team is a little like getting a fourth crown on a healthy tooth because your dentist is having a 'buy three, get one free' sale. But only a little. A week after the season I'll already be missing the lovable, losing lugs.
  15. I'm somewhat bitter that Molitor has finally managed to make me feel relieved that a hitter with 42 home runs was not asked to bunt. When a player has 42 home runs, the only correct sign for a bunt is a burning bush. http://media.theiapolis.com/d4/hIJ/i1RFO/k4/l1RVO/wZJ/charlton-heston-as-moses-in-the-ten-commandments.jpg
  16. Which is on pace for a full season with 630 PA's in which he would be hit by a pitch 140 times. I'd pay to see that.
  17. Yep. http://coworking.worksprogressseattle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/bingo-win-e1445447306742-1024x443.jpg You meant the Twins? <shrug> Oh.
  18. Shame was like three steps ago in the Twins fan grief cycle process for me. I'm leaving One Hundred Loss Resignation for First Overall Draft Pick Euphoria as we speak.
  19. Hey, you're a Twins fan... how much worse can they really make you feel? As a bonus, here's a suggestion for your daily Twins fan gratitude exercise: be thankful that the 100th loss occurred with a full week of baseball left instead of coming down to the suspense of the final weekend.
  20. The Twins franchise started to become indistinguishable from a non-competitive entertainment product at virtually the exact moment that it was handed the stadium they had assured us for decades was the critical tool it lacked to make it perennially competitive. That slide culminated in the Twins fielding the worst team in all of baseball this year. If I were Jim Pohlad, I'd be grateful for any fans left to be upset with the Twins and hungry for change, even if that hunger could be mistaken for an impulse to commit arson.
  21. If it's any consolation, you could imagine Falvey kicking himself for being five years older than Theo was when he got his chief executive baseball job. Of course, Falvey may be too busy kicking himself for accepting a job in an organization that just lost its 100th game of the season. In any case he's an outside hire, and the silly straw man argument that 'an outside hire is guaranteed to be the answer' notwithstanding, that's a good thing.
  22. Twenty years ago the talking heads would be saying he 'knows how to win', and then in the following season, when his ERA improves to the low 4's but his winning percentage declines, he has... forgotten how to win, I guess? Professional baseball without statistics is the irrational constantly waiting for its chance to happen. So The Run for One Hun is still alive, but postponed til tomorrow when it can shatter the dreams of more children in the stands than it would have tonight. PS Despite the negativity I'm glad the Twins won and Duffey pitched well. The End.
  23. Twins with 15 wins in September. And August. Combined.
  24. Fueled by a renewable resource like Bacardi, no doubt.
  25. That gif is too awesome for mere words, and yet I fear that before this wretched season is over, the Twins will manage to do something so terrible it can only be symbolized by JarJar dancing with Ewoks.
