    On a semi related note... I believe it was Gladden who said, like it was the greatest stat ever... “That’s Joe’s FOURTEENTH opening day hit” I immediately thought... isn’t that about how many opening days he’s been a part of? So actually, he’s worse than normal on opening day.

It started without sponsorship and now it’s back to no sponsorship. It’s just an old man circling people because he likes to. What? Were they going to take away his circlin’ pen? Of course not.

    This is the part that seems unfair to the Twins. Why should the Reds get to stash him at AAA if he clears waivers?

    Yeah, remember a few years back when the Yankees were hoping A-Rod would get suspended...... so they didn't have to pay him.

    For sure the player is suspended without pay. Being forced to give it to charity wouldn't be without pay because if would severely diminish their taxable income and they basically wouldn't owe any taxes on the rest of the money they earned. If the team is still forced to fork over the money (which I'm highly skeptical of), then it would be THEM that get to donate it.

    Would you prefer Lynn 4/56 or 1/12? I bet it’s a mixed bag on here I think Lynn wanted to bet on himself but I would think two weeks ago 4/56 would’ve been pretty enticing.

    My theory is that the FO believes that MLB will “fix” the juiced baseball issue from last year. And have been betting on guys who saw their HR rates spike last year. Similar to your theory, but slightly different. Because yours assumes regression to the mean, whereas mine assumes a specific course correction from the league.

    I wonder if analytically, it's actually an advantage to have all starters of the same throwing hand. Part of the equation would be hard to quantify (the coaching part), but stay with me here Teams are platooning more than ever. Teams are doing it because they feel they can play matchups and over the course of a season derive a net advantage my playing players against the opposite handed pitcher. OK. Makes sense. But what is a manager going to do if there's no opportunity to platoon? Is he going to sit the bad matchup all three games of the series against us? Doubt it. I would think that at least one of those games, he'd feel the need to play the lesser matchup, to "keep his guys fresh" (or whatever coach-speak he might use). If the Twins had a series against 3 lefties, would Molitor sit Kepler, in favor of Grossman for the whole series? Doubt it. Also, do we think it's a coincidence that Cleveland, where Falvey came from had all RH pitcher at the end of his time there (and still).
