  1. I hear that. About what you would expect from the 4th outfielder. He suits his role.
  2. Mine was how he kept pitching through that fiasco of a sixth inning, did his job, and finished off the ballgame.
  3. Cave quietly hitting .400 in August.
  4. It's hyperbolic, I know, but watching Arraez smack singles the other way with that inside-out swing reminds me of Tony Gwynn.
  5. Exactly. There will be a fresh arm down in Rochester to take his place and keep the 'pen fresh.
  6. That last K had to feel good for Big Mike.
  7. Does this summary look about right? https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/08/02/mlb-juiced-baseball-problem-home-run-rate/1869584001/ This nugget jumped out at me: "Smith said modified baseballs could be ready for the 2021 season, but MLB spokesman Pat Courtney said the league has yet to commit."
  8. Back in my heyday I had quite the repertoire of junkballs and could touch 85 if I reached back for something extra on my 'heater.' I'm even right-handed. Watch out Mr. Harper. Clearly I got what the Twins are looking for in high leverage situations.
  9. The Brewers' former DH comes through again!
  10. There go your swinging strikes. Nice finish from Perez.
  11. Perez has given up two inexcusable walks but has pitched well otherwise. He's induced three choppers form the likely NL MVP.
  12. Sure is nice to have a guy who DHed through college manning 2nd for the Brewers.
  13. He looked good to me. Both of those singles were some soft contact.
  14. I found this old comparison to Wil Lutz encouraging: "As current New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz did in training camp two years ago, when he was a relative unknown out of Georgia State, Vedvik has so far gone virtually toe-to-toe with Tucker, a two-time Pro Bowl selection." https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-kicker-kaare-vedvik-0802-story.html
  15. Nice to see the shift work for once. Keep me honest on my dislike for the tactic.
  16. I hear that. It's small potatoes either way.
  17. I think so. Just slide everybody down a spot in the order. 1. Arraez 2. Kepler 3. Polanco 4. Cruz 5. Rosario 6. Sano 7. Cron 8. Gonzalez 9. Castro Makes a lot of sense.
  18. Mamma Mia! Really, though, that 2nd inning weren't no better. That deep flyball to Kep and hot shot grounder to Sano were off pitches right down Broadway.
  19. Y'know ... I'd have liked to see Kep get a chance to swing the bat with the bases loaded. Just saying.
  20. Cron undercutting Smeltzer on that leadoff bunt when he should have retreated back to the bag would have changed the whole makeup of the half inning.
  21. It was a double play GB without the shift. Been seeing too many of those lately IMO.
  22. Redshirts is right up my alley. There just ain't enough hours in the day.
