That's his problem. He's been too walk-happy and when he has to swing to stay alive, he always picks the worst pitch to hit. That one was as slow as you can imagine and in the dirt.
Vargas is the pitcher that hitters need to see as many pitches as possible from. He gives up walks and he does not have overpowering stuff. Polanco and Cruz only saw 3 pitches from him and handed him 2 outs.
Being younger does not mean he's going to have a better career. How significant is Sano's future potential? Escobar has been getting better and better every year. Sano has been having various issues on and off the field. I find it's amusing that you think OPS means more than RBI count since baseball is all about getting runs batted in (RBI).
I don't think Sano and a prospect is enough to get Escobar. Escobar is the best player there and he is the heart and soul of that team. Escobar and Adrianza is not on the same level. I would compare Escobar with Polanco. Escobar has more power and drives more runs in and Polanco hits better average. Just look at how many RBIs Escobar has driven in this season. He has outdone anyone on Twins team. Upside is just upside. It's just an imagination. Actual production is all that matters.
I was hoping they pinched hit Adrianza in the 9th for Schoop if they pinched hit Arraez in the 4th for Sano since there is only one Arraez on the roster. We just can't get enough of Arraez in the lineup!
What matters the most in the baseball game is to drive runners in. Hitting with RISP especially in close or late games is extremely important. Twins needs to get as many clutch players (gamer) as possible on the roster. Schoop is the opposite of that. He is not going to help Twins win in playoff.
It's a tough loss. Cruz just does not have as good bat control as Arraez. Sano has been a bit too walk-happy these days and he got ripped off by the umpire.
