  1. Self Guilt Note: Pags and Leius did a great job in 1991.
  2. There have been many championship teams who have had much worse players than Plouffe not just at third base, but at every position. Hot damn! What is with all the Plouffe hate and a grip load of folks thinking he is the the artery blockage of the MN Twins? Pagliarulo and Leius were way more disappointing than Plouffe in 1991. Really??? There are much, much, much bigger fish to fry. (puke)
  3. I'm not too sure how to view Plouffe in the way you envision his usefulness in the future. Sure, it would be great if he was a super utility guy, and also as a corner outfielder, but I have a hard time envisioning these ideas coming to fruition. 1. Plouffe has finally settled in at one position, and has held his own. This has brought stability to his career and he is settling in impressively. 2. Terry Ryan admitted 2+ years ago that Plouffe as an Outfielder was a disaster. Why do we keep pushing Plouffe as a Corner OFer? I know things change, but the optimism on this subject is downright ridiculous. 3. I do not think that Sano is a sure shot at 3B. After his TJ surgery, no one can know his overall outcome. The dude will hit HR's, but anything other than that is a guessing game. 4. I view Plouffe as third baseman. If he needs to converted to a different position to make room for upcoming prospects - you should then trade him. 5. This whole converting Plouffe to be an outfielder, roving utility player, is confusing to me. There are no signs of this being a possibility or any writing on the wall indicating as such. Plouffe is a third baseman. Nothing more, nothing less.
  4. Sorry about that. I super piss poorly worded my post and went off on a worthless tangent. Post All-Star Break HR's Dozier: 13 (Season Total = 31) Willingham: 8 (Season Total = 16) Arcia: 7 (Season Total = 12) Plouffe: 5 (Season Total = 11)
  5. I remember hearing when Bean first announced he was same sex oriented. It was 1999 or 2000 or somewhere in that time frame. For a few years, I thought it was Billy Beane. I did not dig into it at all, but I felt pretty good that nobody was giving the Oakland General Manager Billy Beane any grief or harassing him and I was pleasantly surprised and thought progress was being made. It then dawned on me in 2001 or 2002, after looking through some old baseball cards I had stored at my grandparents house, that I might have mixed up Beane for Bean. After a small amount of research, I discovered the error in my ways. Anyways, progress is definitely being made, and I am glad to see Billy Bean given this hopefully important position. 2014 is definitely better than the early 2000's and light years away from the late eighties/early nineties. Good Luck my friend - you have my support!
  6. I'd like to think Hicks would be the guy, but Rochester is winning with what they have. Unless one of the aforementioned players steps up their game big time, what would be the benefit for Rochester? It will not be Buxton, and Hicks and Rosario have had their ups and downs. For a number of years the Twins took a major league deuce on the Rochester franchise. I doubt they will meddle with their ball club if they have a conceivable chance to challenge for the AAA title. This is only my opinion.
  7. Dozier has such a big lead on his team mates. I cannot foresee a scenario where Dozier does not lead this club in HR's and that includes leading the team post all-star break. My guess is that he hits 13 more HR's this year and falls a stolen base or 2 short of the 30/30 club. I have a hard time believing another Twin will hit 20HR's or even come very close. (Arcia-12), (Plouffe-11), (Willingham-16)? Plouffe might hit 50 2B's!
  8. How else could you account for his .340 BA and .950 OPS in his 38-39 season of 1999. It is pure poppycock I's tells ya.
  9. (sigh) I thought I might make it through a season without hearing or reading the words "Alex Rodriguez". It's gonna be a few years before this opportunity arises again.
  10. For the sake of baseball history, legend, and folklore - Wagner has my overwhelming vote as the best SS in MLB history. Jeter is up there at the top along with Cal Jr. In my opinion Jeter has been the face of MLB for the last 15 years. That really does mean a lot.
  11. Don't be sad. Turn the page. Move on from it. It happens to all of us at some point or another.
  12. If I remember correctly, even though it was 7 years ago, word was that 4 years at 60M would have gotten the deal done. It's ancient history now, but if that were the case, the Twins should have done it swiftly, quickly, gently, danced the jig and felt good about retaining their team leader. I am not a fan of examining past missteps and lamenting on them - I try to be at peace with what actually happened and look forward no matter if it is promising or bleak.
  13. You can only hope that is the case.
  14. So far my prediction seems to be on pace. Glad to see Justin having very good success.
  15. Colorado has a couple of Home Runs tonight. I am jealous. I want the Twins to be a home run hitting club. The attached image is my presentation to make that happen next season and you do not have to tare down walls to do it - just put up the plastic orange fencing they use to convert recreational baseball fields to softball fields. Magenta (pink) equals new outfield wall.
  16. Sorry Chief. I took your post as a joke, but you being a Spanish American War and WWI Vet - I should have intervened and taken the burden off your shoulders. I still have a lot to learn about respecting my elders.
  17. The game has some drag to it, but I think everyone went to bed. It must be a collective bad week at work?
  18. Ditto. If it is an ailment or disease, I sure do not want it. It sounds painful.
  19. I'm bracing myself for it. Who will replace them on our roster?
  20. Please accept my apology - I was taking a wild guess.
  21. Not sure what to do about NY, I am but simple mid-western folk. An infusion of anime porn could help sway the cause of the Japanese.
  22. I'm a model you know what I mean and I shake my little tush on the catwalk.
