  1. "Okay boys, today you should take some batting practice. When done with that, we've got mandatory eye exams slated for everyone".
  2. I think Popkins is clueless. If you gave him a one way plane ticket, with the destination as Baltimore, it would zoom over his head.
  3. You're asking for a logical explanation from a Baldelli action. That's an incongruency. You know that, I can only imagine your query was rhetorical in nature.
  4. That's because they figure they're going to go yard. they overswing, pulling their head off the ball and end up striking out or popping up. Those hitters who square it up once in a while, have only warning track power.
  5. Makes you, as the pitcher, want to grab a bat, and tell the guys, "Well I guess I have to hit, too"?
  6. I think we need a little more effort at small ball. I know a run here or there may not garner a win, but right now we need some successes in the game. Little victories throughout the game may lead to a win. Afterall, our pitching is decent. But this trying to crank the ball 420 feet to get back in the game is not our forte.
  7. "But Mr. Popkins, everyone in the organization stresses making contact . Mr. Carew and Oliva worked real hard with me, in spring training". Popkins: "Listen kid, do what I say, they don't know squat".
  8. These teams trot out their rookies, rehab projects, future DFAs, and they handle our lineup with ease. Twins hitters shake their heads, look at the jumbo-tron and talk to themselves, likes they're dumbfounded why they struck out or popped up. Makes you wonder, where there heads are at. After all, they are PROFESSIONAL players.
  9. Especially when sometimes it defies logic or ignores past history. It's like throwing darts at a list of players available.
  10. How long can this 'freefall" be tolerated? The fact is, we have several players who should not be on the 26 man roster. Forget about the injured or hurt players who are hanging around. We have healthy humans who should not be playing baseball for the club, right now. I can appreciate wanting to give players an opportunity to gather themselves and work things out, but there comes a point, when you have to make some difficult decisions. It's not fair to the fans, who spend top dollars for ticket and concessions, to be subjected to such an inferior product. Patience has worn thin. Whatever advantage or progress we have made is gone or slipping away. Do you rescue someone before they fall, or wait til they hit bottom, and then try to save them?
  11. This current Twins team trying to hit, is like stacking BB's.
  12. I've been watching for close to 60 yrs and I agree with you. I've seen terrible teams and some pretty good teams. But this team just doesn't seem to have the intensity or the baseball intelligence. Their Baseball IQ is horrendous. Couple that with a manager that is all over the board and you've got a recipe for mediocrity, at best.
  13. We went through years of Mauer's $84 million dollar contract, handcuffing the Twins. I thought we were done with these hindsight reviews. On the other hand. Bosox fans still upset with the trading/selling of some guy named, Ruth.
  14. Buxton does an impersonation of a 5 tool player
  15. I heard their car broke down several times on the way.
  16. The last time I asked my boss for $30 million, he laughed at me and said, "Hit and play like correa, and we'll talk".
  17. Elder's a sinkerball pitcher. Perkins says he's been struggling with his control. Am I missing something?
  18. K before R, Geez. don't you know your alphabet? LOL
  19. You want veteran presence? Put Carew and Oliva on opposite ends of the bench.
  20. 1. Because he hits under .230 2. He has no power 3. He has no speed 4. Struggles on pitches in the dirt, cause he has no mobility Wait, what was the question?
  21. Thanks, does Menards sell a wheelbarrow full of foam bricks?
  22. I can't stand that commercial. You know how many tv screens I've cracked, watching that ad?
