  1. Ben Revere has made me a believer in range > arm (not even close). I also will admit that I thought he was a 4th OF and after watching him play the past 2 months, I really like his game.
  2. As a fan, I completely turned off from Liriano. I just hope we can deal him for something of value and call it over. I'd rather have consistent mediocrity than him at this point. That being said, the other pitchers John mentioned aren't that consistent either.
  3. Blackburn...no one wants to be in his pants right now (lifted from Juan Rincon).
  4. No one wants to play the Twins right now. Fun game last night!
  5. His body language just looks bad right now. I think he should at least be moved down in the order so that Plouffe can maybe start hitting home runs with guys on base. Do you expect Morneau to show slight signs of improvement this year and next or will he stay about the same and call it quits after this season?
  6. I agree 100%. I was listening to a certain local "sports" radio show this morning, and they were adding fuel to the fire. There are a lot folks here who can't seem to get that HR's are not everything. Willingham has been a nice addition, but Mauer is the clear choice.
  7. Mauer gets the nod due to his obp and the position he plays (sometimes plays).
  8. Me too. I thought the decision to offer him the contract ~2 years ago was a good one. At the time he was an innings eater and I thought the big ballpark would be great for his career. I think the bullpen would be worth a shot before putting him on waivers though.
  9. Hi Mr. Ed, I think the Duensing in the rotation part two is worth a try. He performed well the first time, didn't complain about the bullpen roll and he performed relatively well there. I'm rooting for him (we need a starter or three).
  10. We will be in Cincinnati for the weekend series. This is the 14th annual "Twins baseball bond". The first trip started out of desperation to watch Twins baseball outdoors. We seem to have the most fun in the older Eastern towns (Cleveland and Philadelphia rank high) so I am looking forward to Cincinnati...kicking back and relaxing with friends and baseball. Maybe we'll bump into some of you guys at the park or at the taverns. Enjoy Pittsburgh.
  11. I couldn't agree with you more Clutterheart. I would trade Capps, Liriano, or Mornea partly to dump salary and possibly get a return. keep the younger guys here.
  12. Thank you for sharing. I think we hit rock bottom last year and we are on the rebound. Cuddyer was a nice ball player, but really glad the Twins went in a different direction.
  13. Is anyone going to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati this week for a little NL Central rivalry action : )? We will be in Cincinnati for the weekend series and I am really looking forward to it. I know the town is supposed to be a little rough around the edges, but it should have some baseball fans, blue collar taverns, and baseball history. Any tips?
  14. I don't think Dan Barrero likes baseball very much.
  15. Maybe that is a little too much for some people, but sports writers used to use more colorful language. I'm not old enough to remember it, but in the book Life and Times of the Thunderbolt kid, Bill Bryson goes into this topic as his dad was one of the more respected baseball writers of his day.
  16. Twins win! So great to see them battle back last night with a great pen performance and big hits. Mauer looks rested and could go on a tear. Parmalee might even hit a little and show us whether the Twins can deal Morneau.
  17. Why not the catcher, Zunino? We will need help at that position soon, and if none of these pitchers jump out, then why waste a number 2 pick?
  18. I could get flagged for a preposterous statement here, but Diamond's mechanics and "stuff" remind me of Glavine. Glavine was good and for a long time though.
  19. In hindsight we know it was a bad trade. Garza has become a solid and sometime dominant starter. I really think it was a combo of Gardenhire trying to eliminate personalities that he and his staff did not like and the Twins trying to replace Hunter's offense. I remember thinking that we Delmon was going to be produce like Hunter for the next 10 years and being really excited about it.
  20. Cuddyer talk bores me Top Gun...sorry! Overpaid and overrated.
  21. Miguel Cabrera even with his age/fat/thirst would be on my list.
  22. What do you think some of the former Twins players like Dan Gladden and Jack Morris would say about that? After reading that article (which was great by the way), I came away thinking the 90's and 2000's drug use was even more prevelant than I thought. There could be a lot of players who I enjoyed watching and even put on a pedestal, who were cutting corners to gain an edge.
  23. Ha! Or rent him my house either! I agree with you 100%. He was big in the few post season games he played for us and was great during the White Sox World Series run.
  24. I've never got the hating on AJ thing that many people in MN have. When he was here, he played really hard and produced. Then he was traded. Would any of you like to see the Twins bring him back for a 2 year deal next year, sign Doumit for 3, and start transitioning Mauer to 3b or RF? That would be a lot of catchers on the team, but all three of them are good bats.
