  1. I don't have a problem with them trying to break into the small Japanese talent pool. It didn't work, and it's time to move on from the experiment. If Nishi retires before Spring Training next year, these last three games will make a lot more sense.
  2. Anger, sadness, heartburn. How many times he broke our hearts and yes I did feel awful for him. No one wanted to be in his pants.Latroy Hawkins 1.0 as the starter was pretty bad too.
  3. Good post as I didn't know how truly bad offensively both SS and 2b have been this year. If we could get average offense and defense out of the short position next year out of Dozier, and above average defense and below average offense out of the other (guy who was acquired from the White Sox who's name I won't be able to remember due to too much Scotch Guard), I would be very pleased. I know that's a lot of improvement to expect from Dozier next year, but I think that's what the Twins will do. I also wish the Twins would use the next 7 weeks to see if Casilla can produce instead of Nishi.
  4. I'm sorry, but are you guys forgetting the big man with glass aka Ron Davis!
  5. I know that I will be torched for this, but it will be fun to watch the White Sox in the playoffs this year. A.J., Liriano, Konerko, Sales...
  6. I'm on board. Where's the best Pirates/A's bar in town?
  7. I agree with you especially on the defensive side. He's the only one of the current crop of 4 middle infielders that could be an above average defensive ss or 2b.
  8. I'm guessing the middle infielder we got in the Liriano trade will be on the big league club next year. I don't think Nishi is back next year (predict retirement). This means either Carrol, Casilla, or Dozier is out. As much as I like Casilla out of the three I'm afriad he's the guy to go. I agree with the others that the Twins will not sign from outside to bolster middle infield for next year.
  9. I like it! I'll add Plouffe finishes with a .275 avg, with 25hr, and 50 rbi, Duensing finishes well as a starter becomes a decent number 4 starter for next year.
  10. Nice play by Cabrera to make up for his earlier misplay.
  11. I think the Twins, with their success during the previous ~10 years, created a passionate fan base. Some of us older nerds were here for the good and bad times before that. The Twins and us fans are lucky that there are a lot of us that are still paying attention. Look at Cleveland and KC for example and the apathy that has set in there. Count me as a glass half full guy. If I'm paying attention to it, it better bring me joy or else I will find something else. I appreciate all of the smart baseball types that come here. I personally think it's great to have a site led by some bright baseball minds, that gives us a place to share ideas about how we would improve the team or discuss a great/crazy/bad play from last night's game. Lastly, I'm hoping this rebuild doesn't take as long as the 94-2001 period. I really think we are trending positive and that the team is only 2 starting pitchers away from being competitive again. Let's hope it's next year!
  12. Wow, he really is the cream of the crop. I'd really like to see what Parmalee can do with the big league club before the Twins make any decisions.
  13. Casilla has to be wondering, "I am that awful that Nishi is playing in front of me??".
  14. Even if he retires at the end of the season?
  15. I am wondering if they are bringing Nishi back so he can save face and retire after this season knowing that he "earned" his way back to the big leagues and not come away as a completely negative experience. He certainly didn't play his way back into the big league club. I wish the guy the best though...sounds like a stand up guy.
  16. I don't. I think we saw enough to know his defense and hitting were both below average. Maybe it's in him somewhere to be a better player, but the Twins gave him plenty of chances.
  17. Keep climbing the ladder! Gotta feel for the Indian and Royal's fans. When rebuilding is one step forwards two steps back, it's not good. Let's hope the improvements we've been seeing this year compared to last continue.
  18. Anyone think Danny will become productive again? I don't think so, but curious what others think.
  19. I'm holding out hope for Cliff Lee, Edwin Jackson, Scott Diamond, Deduno/Devries/Hendricks/Blackburn competing for 4th and 5th spots.
  20. Barrero has some good guests and he gets some good discussions going. I do think he talks a ton of sh*t about pitch to contact and Mauer. He stills seems to have some complex about not being from Mn (just needs to get over that).
  21. Man, I agree that KFan's hosts are horrible when it comes to baseball. I almost think it's on purpose to drive down the value of the Twins for the upcoming negotiations.
  22. Now that he is starting to hit for average and hit lefties, does anyone else want him to start eating red meat, put on some pounds, and start pounding homeruns?
  23. If Morneau continues to hit AND add some power, I think they could still move him in August. Then we'll see about Parmalee and have more $ for pitching. That being said, I'd be bummed to see Morneau go.
  24. John, I agree with your 1, 2, and 3 (head scratcher from last night). I came away from last night content that the Twins didn't trade away Perkins or Burton. There are still a couple of weak links in the bullpen and hopefully those spots can be filled from within by the end of the season.
  25. Yes, thank you sbknudson. That's what I was trying to say, but you said it better.
