  1. Castro's last season with the Astros was '16, so second season. Also, Keuchel is a ground ball pitcher, which makes the infield offense a bit more important than outfield defense.
  2. I'm drawing 2 conclusions from this article. First, signing free agent relievers is a total crap shoot, even with guys with decent track records. And either the Yankees are targeting the right players or they're simply better at putting them in a position to succeed. Either way, they're doing something right and I don't care for it.
  3. Whew, for a second I was worried there wouldn't be any knee jerk reactions about Sano in this thread.
  4. Castro has an OPS of 1.025 this year lol. Not sure if he was feeling the heat from Garver or playing for his next contract but he's mashing in limited action this year. Platooning your catcher seems like a great idea though. Also, how many Twins will be represented at the allstar game this year? I would think Polanco is a lock while Odor is among the league leaders in various pitching categories. Anyone else I'm missing?
  5. If they fail, they reboot. Disney owns Star Wars now, so be prepared for them to do what they did to Marvel to Star Wars. There'll be clunkers along the way but that won't matter in the long run. Personally, I'm excited about the Jar Jar Binks Trilogy.
  6. Couple of thoughts. This lineup is incredibly potent. If Sano comes back strong we're probably top 5 imo. The rotation currently is Pineda and Berrios and pray for snow. Gibson isn't quite in 2018 form yet but I have faith in him. Odorizzi could use and opener. Perez could use 2. This bullpen would look really good to me with another plus arm. Are any of those available that wouldn't cost any prospects? Maybe a bearded one with World Series experience.
  7. I'm not sure how Buxton got so much on that throw without even really winding up. We got lucky that Harper made that ill advised tag there because Mejia looked pretty shakey today. Overall pretty good game, 8/10. 9/10 with rice.
  8. Maybe I'm alone, but I personally have faith in this bullpen. I think it's got a good mix of arms that aren't all dependent on being flame throwers and most seem capable of going multiple innings. It would look a whole lot better with Romero in it but it's pretty understandable after the wretched spring he had.
  9. With the way Romero has pitched this spring I'm ok with Harper making the roster. There's something about the way he throws that looks hard to square up. I can't back this up with anything, but that's the way it looked from that video. His curve looks pretty, I'd give him a shot.
  10. Yeah I was mostly joking but I'm also a little curious what we'd do in that event. It will be interesting to see if he grabs a mitt when we play NL teams away. But Chili also pinch hit a homerun in game 3 (according to wikipedia). Maybe if his bat is in the lineup the whole game we actually take a road game and '91 isn't the greatest world series of all time?
  11. The only problem I see with this signing Cruz is how are we gonna get him in our lineup come WS time? For away games are we sticking him in the outfield or do we give him a first basemans glove and hope for he best?
  12. This is it. This is the year Buxton becomes a bonafide MVP candidate.
  13. If y'all plan on putting Marwin Gonzalez as the likely backup for all positions know that I respect the hustle.
  14. To be fair, we're the only team that has actually given him major league at bats. Based on the Twins calling up Bobby Wilson last year and not Astudillo, I think there are some legitimate questions surrounding his defense at catcher.
  15. Hey Nick, what are your thoughts on David Banuelos? His Cedar Rapids numbers look a bit rough but that isn't everything. Where is he in your rankings?
  16. I'd take a Super Bowl appearance. Or a World series appearance. Or a Stanley cup appearance. I've literally never seen any of those...
  17. Which, imo, wouldn't be the worst line of thinking in the world. Castro's a 31 year old catcher coming off knee surgery. I imagine having good knees is important, especially if you're a bit light with the bat.
  18. That's a beefy lineup I can get behind. But where is Mejia? Seems like he's being left out in this scenario. I suppose he could be part of the Iglesias deal as I don't think the suggested deal gets it done and Mejia is out of options.
