  1. Better than they were at the beginning of the year! I'll take those odds. I truly don't see any team other than the Indians making a push. Maybe the Tigers, but I'd take the Twins against the Tigers.
  2. Nothing wrong with him being a #3/4. Teams need those guys too. Plus, he's a lefty that throws 93-94.
  3. This is what I'm thinking. You can't take three high schoolers with your first three picks. I mean you can, but don't expect production for at least three years.
  4. I could have sworn it was a hanging slider. Analysis above is solid. I like your description
  5. All last night I was thinking, I can't believe the Twins didn't give this guy more of a chance. It's not easy to find guys who throw 96+ with a nasty slider. Control was/is always going to be an issue, but with the Twins lack of velocity, I find the quick move last year very perplexing.
  6. I think you need to go #1 route. The Twins have yet to show the ability to make a splash for a top SP in the FA market (not that necessarily should) and have yet to show the ability to develop a top tier SP. Now, granted there is a different FO mindset and different minor league instructors, but I think you need to take the chance. I've been reading that Gore's pitches are already better than Greene's. From my eye, he seems to have a smooth delivery. Velocity is there. Wright is very similar, just throws from the right side and is two-three years ahead of Gore. To me, it's between those two guys and comes down to @vanimal46 point.
  7. What's to say that those five guys won't still be around? Also, what do you mean by broken? Injured? Out of the organization? Not quite understanding what you mean by "broken". Five years from now they will all be 28-29; by experts accounts that is a year removed from entering their prime. Payroll will not be an option to sign those guys. Hell, Gore may not even take five years. Like I said, in my original post, I like both Gore and Wright, I just think that Gore is going to be the better pitcher in five years. Do we really think we see Wright next year? Knowing how the Twins move their players in the minors, he may be down there for three years...
  8. I don't understand why Busenitz has not been given a chance. How is Rucinski still on the 40 man? Busenitz has an 11/9 k rate. That should translate to at least a 7/9 k rate in the majors. There's no reason guys like Rucinski and Breslow and Belise should be ahead of him right now. Alan has been lights out so far in AAA. Give the kid a chance. #FreeBusenitz
  9. I still like Gore. I think he's the guy. I also like Wright, but Gore is going to be the guy five years from now that is an absolute stud. I get the safe pick with Wright, but Gore is a monster. 1 ER all year! 83 innings! I don't care if you're in little league, that's ridiculous! 174 k's too! And yes, I get that it's high school hitters and not college, but we don't have many lefty starters in the minors.
  10. The Twins love making terrible pitchers look like Cy Young Award winners....
  11. Why is Dozier so hot or cold. Be f'in just a little consistent.
  12. Very nice bunt. This kid has been pretty good so far.
  13. Gotta get your value out of it. And like... at this point, why not. More comical than anything.
  14. This has to be the breaking point with some of these relievers.
  15. Twins are going to lose this game....
  16. Welp... Would anyone actually claim Pressly right now?
  17. How about the front office goes out and actually gets a closer. Closers don't strike out 5 per 9. Garbage. Terrible.
  18. I haven't seen his name anywhere outside the top 10. I've read that he doesn't have the upside that Greene has, but has a better delivery and better overall pitches than Greene (right now). I can't see any scenario that he drops to 35/37.
  19. I'd prefer to not trade for an NL pitcher to be honest. How many NL pitchers have had immediate success coming to the AL. Cueto got rocked when he moved midseason a little while back... I'd prefer to get a guy who has had success in the AL this year. Ian Kennedy sounds like an interesting name. Maybe Cobb. Estrada will cost at least Gordon and a pitcher - pass on that; however, if the Twins can trade for a guy who is locked up like Hamels was when the Rangers traded for him, I'd give up the prospects needed. I'd rather see moves to improve the bullpen... whether that is internal or outside the organization, does not matter to me. #FreeBurdi
  20. This a 1000 times. The Twins most likely will not get the best player from the draft when all said and done; however, you absolutely cannot bust on this pick. #1 overall needs to at least make the team and be there for a minute.
  21. The more I read about Gore, the more I think he is the guy to select. High ceiling, hard throwing lefty, who has absolutely dominated. Hard to find lefties that throw in the mid 90's. I like Wright as the pick too, though. I was really high on McKay, but the velocity dip really has me worried. I wouldn't be able to justify taking a guy #1 overall that barely cracks 90 mph.
  22. Sano is the man. I love his attitude in the dugout. Watching the way he reacted when Vargas hit that game tying HR the other night was awesome. He truly seems like a team-first player and just wants what's best in order to win. IF the Twins make the playoffs, and Sano continues the production he is, I honestly cannot see how he doesn't win MVP. Sure Trout is going to have great stats, but if his team is bad, how is he the Most Valuable Player? In my opinion, value equates to wins.
