  1. Oh, come on people. Everyone knows Diana Troy was the annoying one in TNG. TNG is a somewhat overrated series, IMO. DS9 seasons 4-6 were the best ST episodes ever created (unfortunately, a large part of the series is borderline unwatchable). TNG had a handful of great characters but they were counter-balanced by some pretty awful characters (O'Brien, Keiko, Troy, Beverly, Wesley). And I think Enterprise was really underrated. Voyager was ****ing awful outside of Janeway, who was fantastic. TOS was kitschy and progressive for its time but doesn't hold up today. In case you were wondering, yes. I have seen every episode of every ST series.
  2. Some have commented on this thread and the decision to close it. Read through this thread again and try to do so objectively. I just read it for the first time and the amount of hand-wringing warranted a closure thirty posts ago. I, for one, find this thread an embarrassment to Twins Daily.
  3. Not terribly surprising. The guy is insanely young for the MWL. He's a whopping four years younger than the average MWL player according to BB-Ref. It's a bit disappointing but nothing to get worried about, IMO.
  4. Turns out, Twins Daily has some pretty cool plans for the ASG. We'll be announcing something within a few days.
  5. I see we're back to the Hyde version of the 2014 Twins' Jekyll & Hyde routine.
  6. This has to mean May is going to get the call in a few days, right? I can't imagine that they will go back to Deduno that quickly...
  7. Hah. Too true.
  8. That's kind of my point. There's no way Martin can tie in every side story to the main arc or resolve that side story in a meaningful fashion. He has too many arcs going to bring it all together or finish the stories he has started. In the end, I don't see A Song of Fire and Ice ending without at least half a dozen Lost-style "I hope you forgot about that story because, uh, it's going nowhere and really has nothing to do with the story I'm telling in the final season/book".
  9. Basically, imagine The Lord of the Rings. Now, add The Silmarillion to the LOTR novel. That's the A Song of Ice and Fire books. It doesn't mean they're bad books but it does mean that they wander aimlessly for what seems like an eternity. I *love* Martin's world-building but really, a huge portion of it is completely unnecessary to the story at hand. Case in point: the prologue to A Game of Thrones introduced the White Walkers. 4,500 pages later (!), we still know virtually nothing about them. Wait, wut? In the meantime, we've been introduced to literally 100 characters who ultimately will not matter in the final 50 pages of the series. Martin simply *cannot* tie these pieces together in a meaningful manner. The series has gone completely kudzu.
  10. I used to like the stadium when it was Edison. I worked half a mile from the stadium during their 2002 run, which was amazing (but unfortunate that they demolished the Twins in the process). Back then, you could walk up and buy a great ticket just before the game. I got dugout seats more than once walking up to the gate. Oh, and I'm pretty sure I was there for the first appearance of the Rally Monkey. If not the first, it was the second or third time. That season was fun.
  11. Heh. I won't make excuses for Guerrier but Meyer is expected to be a front of the rotation starter. He needs to be a starter for as long as he can this season... If they want to shut him down later and put him in the Minnesota pen, that's not a bad idea but for the time being, he needs to start games. Given his recent performances, he needs to start games in Rochester because the Twins can't afford to have those types of starts in Minnesota.
  12. Yep. I've really liked what I've seen from Plouffe this season. He's no longer a butcher at third and it's time we stop referring to him as such.
  13. FIFY. The guy needs an editor like nobody's business. He's big into Literature as Author Masturbation. The world is amazing but he drifts off into pointless crap so often that the reader continually loses focus.
  14. The guy has only pitched 75 innings. If that's his "wall" this season, he has larger issues at hand. If he's getting hammered in AAA, he shouldn't be anywhere near a MLB roster.
  15. I think that all depends on Meyer. He's been pretty lousy over his past few starts. If he continues down that path, I think it's questionable that he'll see Minnesota this season.
  16. Given Meyer's low innings count last season and his recent struggles, I don't think we'll be seeing him in a Twins uniform any time soon. And I'm okay with that. May, on the other hand...
  17. Really great wrap-up of last week's pitching.
  18. As much as I like Deduno, it's time to shuffle him off the roster and make room for some of the younger guys coming through the system.
  19. You must have caught them at a bad time. Normally, that kind of series would send them into a rabid frenzy. It's the Hawk Harrelson of baseball forums. Really, it's insufferable.
  20. Reed added to the list. Only missing Burdi and Curtiss at this point.
  21. He went three days in a row, didn't he? I think he just needed a day off. I heard Bert say something about it but in typical fashion, I ignore whatever Bert says.
  22. Dozier has the highest WAR among second basemen yet isn't in the top three in ASG voting. Still underrated.
  23. With Cy Hughes on the mound, I like the Twins' chances.
  24. Hah. Good way to put it.
