  1. I think Cuellar has an outside shot at the job but yeah, I also believe the next pitching coach will come from outside the organization.
  2. Joe doesn't need an attitude adjustment. Joe needs Paul to explain how to interact with the public. There's nothing wrong with Joe's attitude, he's just lousy at showing what the public wants to see (fire, grit, and all that other stuff that's mostly nonsense).
  3. Put yourself in Joe Maddon's shoes for a moment: what would it take to choose the Twins over the Cubs? I think the obvious answer to that question is "A ridiculous amount of authority and money." And if I was Joe Maddon, I'm not sure even that would do it. He's walking into an almost perfect situation in Chicago and if he leads that team to glory, he'll be immortalized in Chicago. Smart front office, gobs of money, probably the best farm system in baseball... There's no real downside and as much upside as a guy could ever want. As Maddon manages what might be his final position in baseball, the Cubs offer everything the Twins can offer plus piles and piles of money, both for Maddon and roster payroll.
  4. The only thing I'm concerned about is how this jersey will look tucked into jeans on a middle-aged white guy pushing three bills. Because that's a look that never goes out of style.
  5. The plot isn't really the strong point of GotG. It's just a fun movie. A bit overrated, IMO, but still good. The Winter Soldier, on the other hand... Just watched that movie again. Holy moly, that film is awesome. This is related to the thread because the first Captain America film was directed by the guy who designed most of the Star Wars vehicles and storyboarded Ep IV so neener neener neener.
  6. Anyone else find it curious that two different pitchers talked about how Molitor told them they were tipping pitches? That's a plus for Molitor and kind of damning to the rest of the coaching staff. Molitor was a roving instructor. It seems to me that he shouldn't be the one catching tipped pitches and correcting the issue.
  7. That probably had more to do with ST:TMP being a cure for insomnia than anything to do with Star Wars. That movie is absurd in so many ways. Beneath the eight minute long shots of the Enterprise, it's a pretty decent sci-fi movie but it's almost impossible to get past the fact that the director held the camera on the Enterprise for eight &(^%ing minutes.
  8. Because it's possible they made up their mind a week ago and spent the past seven days negotiating terms? Or maybe Meatsauce just guessed and got it right. It wasn't hard, as there were only two candidates.
  9. Well, Terry Ryan's reputation within baseball circles is that he's a master of deception. Or maybe you're just overly cynical.
  10. The more I read about Mientkiewicz during the hiring process, the more I agreed with this thinking.
  11. Bruno deserves the hitting coach job and I think he'll be back. That's the right decision. As for pitching coach, I'm more torn. I like Cuellar but I wouldn't mind seeing outside thinking, either.
  12. The cynicism of the Twins fan base is disheartening. Do some of you really believe Lovullo got a second interview and regular contact with the FO if they weren't legitimately considering him for the position? What is the end game of Ryan in that move? If he honestly cared what cynics think about him, he wouldn't hire Molitor. It makes no sense to go through all that effort to vet an outside guy to "appease a fanbase" and then turn around and hire the "insider" that fanbase was skeptical about in the first place. For right or wrong, Ryan thinks Molitor is the best guy for the job. I happen to like Molitor but also believe that most managers don't have a ton of in-game impact so overall, it's not an earth-shattering decision to me. Molitor is an interesting candidate and better than Mientkiewicz, who seems to shun any kind of outside thinking and feels "rub some dirt on it and walk it off" is the way to play 21st century baseball. I also was on board with hiring Lovullo.
  13. I still lean Molitor but I've warmed up to the idea of Lovullo, if only because he's completely foreign to the organization.
  14. Well, it does take some time to negotiate terms so they deserve a little more time. I suspect they've already made their choice, now it's just a numbers game.
  15. I'm not quite to that point yet. The Maddon thing threw everybody for a loop. Now that is settled and the Twins can move on decisively. If they don't name a manager by mid-week, then I'll start wondering WTF is going on over there.
  16. I think we now understand why the Twins didn't pursue Maddon past a phone call. This sounds dangerously close to collusion on the Cubs' part. I completely get why the Cubs wanted Maddon and why Maddon wanted the Cubs, I just hope they did it above board because if I was a Rays fan, I'd be livid right now.
  17. I felt the same way - and the original draft of Ep VII was about the new generation - until Abrams explained himself a bit. Basically, Ep VII is a final send-off to the original cast while VIII/IX are about the next generation of characters. I'm down with that plan.
  18. It really wouldn't because chances are Posey would have had the ball with Gordon 30 feet from home. That's not defensible, that's Scott Ullger-esque. Remember that guy? Remember how we hated him so much we gave him the nickname "The Windmill"? Now imagine that happening in game 7 of the World Series, ninth inning, two outs. Yeah, I thought so.
  19. Doogie tweeted that the Twins have talked with Maddon, for whatever that's worth. (not a swipe at Doogie - far from it - just pointed out the vague nature of the tweet)
  20. I could have made that throw. Sending him was extremely high risk to the point that it's basically throwing away the World Series. With that said, sending him would have been more fun because I didn't really care who won the game.
  21. Obviously, this is a new system so if you have ANY problems accessing your handbook, let me know. I'm figuring out this system just like everybody else.
  22. The handbook is now available for download, folks.
  23. If you purchased the handbook, mosey on over here and download your copy! http://twinsdaily.com/files/file/8-2015-minnesota-twins-offseason-handbook/ Once you're done reading, mock up your own blueprint - IN YOUR OWN THREAD - and post it in this forum! For example: Title: Brock's 2015 Blueprint Content: Trade everybody! And Mauer twice! (not really but you get it, use something in the format found in the handbook as a real example).
