  1. Actually, a single space after a period is correct but that's an argument I'd rather not get into for the hundredth time. Two spaces after a period is a bad, old holdover from monospaced typewriter fonts. It was never correct, it was simply a necessity because typewriters sucked. Either way, at least I know what's causing the issue. Now I can start troubleshooting it.
  2. Minniman from VJ may have just cracked the case for me. He says it happens when he puts two spaces after a period. Is that the case for the rest of you suffering from this?
  3. Depending on the league and how it rates AVG and OBP, he could be a steal this year.
  4. Okay, if you're seeing it in multiple browsers, then it's not the browser... It's an operating system function. There's no way that IE11 and FF 36 work for me but both are broken for you, Ash. *scratches head* W... T... F...
  5. Can't get it to remove spaces with FF 36.0, either. Arghblargh.
  6. Hmmm. I'm using FF 35.0 and can't get it to work. Out of curiosity, do you have the "lightswitch" at the top left of the post editor clicked?
  7. Paging Trevor Plouffe.
  8. I'm not entirely against an extension for Dozier but right now, I don't really see the point in it, either.
  9. Some of you are having issues. After you type a post, the system is removing all spaces after punctuation, particularly periods. I'm trying to replicate this issue and I can't get it to happen in any browser. Here is what I've checked thus far: Firefox 35.0.1 Internet Explorer 11 Chrome 40.0 If you're having this issue, please give me an example and the exact version of the browser you're using when it happens.
  10. There's nothing wrong with being proud of your kid and celebrating a life milestone with a short, innocuous tweet.
  11. I think Schilling too often plays the role of ignorant douche but in this case... http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110705203442/glee/images/3/38/Orson-welles-clapping.gif
  12. Director of Scouting Nick Punto will be standing right behind Perk and he'll take the blow.
  13. Interesting. If true, the front office must really like this kid.
  14. I'm looking forward to General Manager Torii Hunter taking a swing at Assistant General Manager Glen Perkins during the 2032 Draft.
  15. Eh, I don't think that really serves anyone's interests. He obviously wants help, which is why he offered the information. A suspension? Yes. But it shouldn't be a long suspension. It should be a conditional suspension based on counseling, rehab, and getting the guy clean. I don't see the point in taking away the guy's livelihood in an attempt to "tough love" him out of drug abuse. I'm no addiction therapist but I don't see that helping if the goal is getting the guy clean (and the league should be more worried about getting him clean than they are draconian punishment measures).
  16. Yikes. I'm bummed to hear this happened. It seems like he worked really hard to overcome his addiction problems. It's a good thing that he volunteered the information and I hope he gets the help he needs.
  17. The Pelfrey situation was somewhat surprising but not shocking. The Twins needed pitchers and by the loosest definition of the word, Mike Pelfrey is a pitcher. The Twins outfield is likely to be a very different scenario in 2016 unless both Buxton and Rosario fall on their faces, in which case we'll all be crying so hard that it won't matter.
  18. While I disagree with many of you about the Hunter signing in 2015, I think we can all agree that we'll all need to drink away the pain if he's extended in 2016. I, for one, don't see it happening.
  19. Ah, I missed that. Nothing to see here. Carry on.
  20. And my point is that Ryan never cites metrics after acquiring a player, at least to my knowledge. Why would he start with Hunter?
  21. Phil Hughes. To an extent, Ricky Nolasco (a perennial advanced metric underperformer).
  22. I'd like to see an example when Ryan actually cited metrics after the acquisition of a player. I'm not saying that quote doesn't exist but I can't remember ever hearing "we signed Player X because he underperformed his xFIP/metric/whatever".
  23. It'd be an interesting study if a player actually tried to break the shift on a regular basis. While the player would OPS lower by bunting, their OBP would be much higher while their SLG would drop. OBP being slightly more valuable than SLG would have to be factored into the equation, along with any potential OPS increase the hitter might see by breaking the shift during regular ABs. It's an interesting thought study. Again, I'd like to see someone give it a legitimate shot and see what data it produces but that's pretty much impossible until a few players actually try the idea.
