  1. People keep lining these things up right now and I think that's unnecessary and wrong. If the Twins win game one with Berrios, throw a bullpen game in two. If the Twins lose game one with Berrios, send Odorizzi to the mound for two. Don't put yourself in the position to head back to Minnesota with the series at 0-2 just because you spaced out your best pitchers. In a vacuum, I'd *absolutely* throw the bullpen game in two and four. It makes the most sense. But if it increases the odds of going down 0-2, I do whatever I can to prevent that from happening.
  2. It's not offered via Hulu and I get my baseball information from internet reading and/or podcasts. I don't really watch baseball talking head commentary, as I find most of it basic at best, infuriatingly wrong at worst.
  3. The Twins will likely pitch 18 innings of bullpen ball in the first four games of the series. Without Gibson, where you do expect to find those 54 outs? Even if he's only out there to get five of them, that's close to 10% of the way there.
  4. They're both eight games over/under, which is why I used " Overall, the point is that every team is either good or bad. There is literally zero mediocrity in the AL, which makes for a lot of really bad baseball. It's not good for the sport. Half of the fanbases in the AL are being actively encouraged to find other things to do with their time.
  5. I see some games are listed as “FS1 or MLBN”. Does anyone know what this means? Will the game broadcast on both channels or what? I get FS1 but not MLBN.
  6. Yuck, this one isn’t much fun for baseball fans around the league: There are zero American League teams
  7. Gardner has been hot and should not be ignored but how much sense does it make to make a roster decision to counter Gardner at the expense of seven Gardner+'s also on the roster? And that's my point. Focusing on one or even two Yankees LHB is missing the forest for the trees. The Yankees can kill you nine different ways. I'll focus on the eight similar ways they can kill me over the one oddity of the group when it comes to dedicating finite resources against them.
  8. They have Gregorius, who hasn't been very good this season. Their only lefty worth mentioning is Gardner.
  9. Yep. I don't want any lefty facing the Yankees but if I have to choose between Smeltzer and Perez, I choose Smeltzer every time.
  10. They'll look at Perez again simply because they don't really need to win and the rest he provides to the guys who will actually make the postseason roster is valuable. Soak up those innings, Martin, I don't even care what they look like.
  11. Gregorius is having a pretty bad season and the Twins will have Smeltzer/Thorpe or Rogers on tap to get out a LHB if they really need it. I'm far more worried about the 7-8 RHB mashers the Yankees with throw at the Twins 4+ times a game than a weathered Gregorius and Brett Gardner. One thing to keep in mind is that Rogers should not be anywhere near the ninth inning in a close game against the Yankees. If there is a time when he should be used in a flex role, it's against the Yankees.
  12. First, the poster asked why Gibson was in the game at all and you’re talking about whether he was successful. Those are two different sets of questions and answers. Second, why do the Twins need a lefty like O’Rourke? Against the Yankees, he’s essentially useless.
  13. Having to pitch two bullpen games against a Yankees lineup that is nearly 100% right-handed means Smeltzer and Thorpe, two of your three long relievers, are extremely flawed options. If Baldelli can get 5-7 outs from Gibson against that lineup, it’s HUGE. That sounds like a pretty valid rationale to me.
  14. Mitch Garver, good gravy.
  15. My point was that it will be quite hard for Cleveland to catch the Twins. It's even more unlikely that both Cleveland and Tampa catch the Twins. The more teams in play for the same position, the more unlikely it becomes that one will go ice cold while the rest get red hot and for it all to happen at the exact same time.
  16. It's pretty good, I agree.
  17. Personally, I'd prefer to face the... I hate to say it... Yankees... Yes, I know they're unbeatable. But they're not. They're basically the Twins. They have mashers, a **** rotation, and a great bullpen. Sign me up. I'd much rather face them than the Astros, who are... basically perfect. Let another team potentially beat the Astros in a five game set and let the Twins face off against those extremely flawed bastards in New York. May the first team to 15 homers in a single series win.
  18. Rosario is not a perfect player but he's certainly interesting to watch. When I really got tired of him was when he threw out Devers. What a slouch. He could have easily had him at least two feet earlier with a better throw. But, alas, it's not as if that mattered much to the Twins season anyway.
  19. If Cleveland catches the Twins, that means the Twins play a Wild Card game. Unless you expect Tampa to basically win out.
  20. I don't want to see Berrios again for at least six days. I don't want to see Odorizzi pitch more than four innings on less than five days of rest. I don't want to see Gibson until the end of the season, giving him ~10 days to see if there's something left after resting through illness. I don't want to see Cron more than three times through the end of the season. Rest, rest, rest. The B team can manage three wins against their opponents, which means Cleveland needs to lose just one game the rest of the way out.
  21. The Twins took two out of three against Chicago. There's no need to panic. Never mind that Chicago is literally the best team the Twins will play the rest of the regular season. That's how easy the schedule gets from here on out.
  22. Or he just stops at second either way because you don't make an out at third with two outs.
