  1. He single-handedly lost a couple of strikes for his pitchers last night. He was stabbing at the ball far too often. And coupled with his defensive gaffes, I'm not sure what to think about Lynn's line. It wasn't good but Lance should have been either out of an inning or pitching through a much better situation had Garver not had an epically bad baseball game last night.
  2. I can shrug off bad pitching for a month. It happens. I can shrug off bad hitting for a month. It happens. Entire pitching staffs and lineups sometimes flounder at the same time. I can accept those things and not get too worked up about it. I've watched a lot of baseball over the years and sometimes, the stars align in a positive way. Other times, they align in the worst way possible. So I'll just ride out this bad stretch before demanding a massive roster overhaul. But what chaps me to no end is the sloppy, SLOPPY play by the defenders. Rodney has been bad but he probably blows two fewer saves if his defense makes routine plays behind him. I can recall at least half a dozen losses that swung against the Twins after someone in the field did something incredibly stupid and/or lazy. And it's not one guy making all the mistakes. It's at least half the friggin' team. On a nightly basis, someone new steps forward and laces up their clownshoes in preparation for an epic night of failure. And that's unacceptable. If this team was merely competent defensively, they're probably 11-13 or even 12-12 right now. We're a bit disappointed by the month as a whole but are able to look forward to improvement. Instead, they've dug themselves a six game hole to climb out of in a division that has one of the best teams in the AL sitting on top.
  3. I like this Kepler kid. I’ve always liked him but my affection was muted a bit after last season. I shouldn’t have underestimated his ability to adjust.
  4. He didn’t mention it directly that I remember but it was implied that he’s doing partial games and will do more in the future.
  5. He left after the fourth or fifth inning. Bremer mentioned it.
  6. Eh... Dozier is generally a pretty smart player. I’m not going to hold one boneheaded move against him. But you’re also right that gold gloves don’t mean a hell of a lot. Dozier isn’t a GG fielder IMO.
  7. He was obviously trying to catch it on the bounce but misplayed it.
  8. Yeah, exactly. Garver basically coughed up three runs by himself in the first three innings. And that’s only tonight. Almost every night, we get a new clownshoe performance from someone that ends up losing the game.
  9. Like I said, really weird to turn around Esco so Kepler can face a righty.
  10. Really strange to pull your lefty to turn around Esco and then leave a righty in against Kepler.
  11. Half watching and only caught the second one and said “that was a strike?” Then FoxTrax showed it clearly wasn’t.
  12. That’s what I love about Mauer. He has a bull**** strike called on him and then takes the identical pitch to left field.
  13. Yep, saw the same thing. Dunno why Kepler broke for home there.
  14. Ditto. Make ‘em earn it. We’ve seen baseball for years. The frequency at which an outfielder can throw it directly to the plate is alarmingly low.
  15. I’m not ready to write off Castro. He was just fine last season.
  16. Getting singles that don’t result in runs doesn’t make up for giving up several runs behind the plate. I’m not that down on Garver overall but he’s been a butcher this game.
  17. Good to see the other guys can look incompetent, too.
  18. Then break the shift. I will never understand why baseball teams chase their own tail so often.
  19. Yeah, true. I didn’t notice where the runner on third was though.
