  1. Any suggestions to clarify the process is certainly welcome.
  2. Appealing to Joe Mauer for the strike call. I like that.
  3. Looking at the fans in the stands, I'm quite happy that I didn't try to pick up tickets for today's game.
  4. Now that I know you're on the forum, how have you resisted the temptation to yell MARK DE ROSA in the thread "Players You Would Like the Twins to Sign/Claim"?
  5. His career OPS with men on base: .921 His career OPS with bases empty: .830
  6. Yep. The first game of every series will have its game thread in the "series preview". I don't see the point in creating a second thread for what is essentially conversation about the first game of the series.
  7. I'm almost positive he's still starting at second. That has to be a typo.
  8. Mauer is an extremely good hitter with runners on base. He converts plenty of runners into RBI... But he needs runners on base in front of him to do it.
  9. It's unlikely that trade happens in 2013, as the Twins probably won't be in contention. I was a bit puzzled by the Lawton trade when it happened but it wasn't a bad trade. The Twins were pushing for a division championship in 2001 and needed pitching help. Reed filled that need in the short-term.
  10. Mauer is definitely better than Torii but as you listed there, it gets pretty ugly after that point... Still, I'm slightly bullish on the Twins lineup this season. I think they'll be somewhere around middle-of-the-road with the ability to narrowly make the top five if things go right, narrowly miss the top ten if things go horribly wrong (again).
  11. I blame Target Field, not Mauer. The park just isn't suited for his skillset without a drastic re-tooling of his approach (which I'm sure would lead to a significant drop in average and on-base percentage). Six of one, half dozen of the other. What's more valuable? 10 more homers or .040 of OBP?
  12. I haven't toyed with either long enough to form a salient opinion. I really love the UI on Windows 8 phones, though. For my money, Microsoft has the best UIX in the business (as odd as that is to say). i heart Metro. BlackBerry is dying. They've bungled every opportunity they've had and should have dropped their OS entirely and moved to Android (or, better yet, they should have actively pursued an acquisition by Microsoft to hold on to their enterprise market). At least at that point, they'd regain developer support but with their ever-dwindling marketshare (now somewhere south of 5%), no developer has a real reason to dedicate valuable resources to the (all new again) platform.
  13. Yeah this. After the trade in 2001, Lawton posted a 0.3 WAR, Reed a -0.1 WAR. In 2002, Lawton posted a 1.2 WAR for Cleveland while Reed posted a 2.8 WAR for the Twins. In 2003, Lawton posted another 1.2 WAR for Cleveland and Reed posted a 0.9 WAR for the Twins. I don't know how that trade can be considered anything but a wash, with a slight nod toward the Twins if you have to choose a "winner".
  14. On Base Percentage is more important than Slugging Percentage (not making an out is the most important thing a hitter can do). Once you properly weight OBP against slugging, Mauer is absolutely a top ten hitter. No question.
  15. Excellent, thanks. That's the mobile browser. This issue seems to be rare enough that I don't think I'll need to take action on it for awhile.... At least until 1080p Android phones become more commonplace.
  16. Who also happens to be a top five (or at least top ten) hitter in baseball.
  17. Most years, I prefer the day after the All-Star Game as my favorite day of sports.
  18. Will do. I had to piece this one together in a rush, as I forgot to do it over the weekend. I'll be sure to add those elements to future updates.
  19. Sorry, I forgot to grab the top row of cells. 20. Don't even get me started on Linux. Fantastic server OS but I have absolutely zero use for it past that point (excepting the *nix-based OSes OSX, iOS, Android).
  21. You realize that I'm saying this as a developer and not an end-user, right? I know plenty of ways to circumvent this problem on a single device but as a developer, I need to find solutions that work under as many environments as possible. Asking users to download a third party browser has no bearing on this problem, really. The vast majority of users will use whatever browser comes with the phone by default (one of my biggest annoyances with Android... First, they didn't release Chrome for the OS for years and then when they did, some developers ignored it and continued to use their own in-house browser). Android is super-customizable but it's also a friggin' mess from a development standpoint. Most users still don't even run a version of the OS that supports Chrome, despite the fact that Android started bundling Chrome with Ice Cream Sandwich, which released in October of 2011. I love some of the stuff Google is doing with Android but as a developer, I'll take Apple's system 105% of the time over Android. It's becoming a complete nightmare to sort device/display issues when tablets are running 1280 resolutions and phones are running 1920 resolutions and some of the manufacturers are doing a lousy job of staying standards-compliant. Allowing manufacturers to make your operating system a free-for-all is good for innovation but it also allows some really bad decisions to be made in place of logical, standards-compliant decisions.
  22. Thanks. I'm going to have to buy an Android tablet just for code-checking... I'll probably wait for the new Nexus 7 tablet, which will probably be announced at Google I/O in mid-May.
  23. It's a little shocking to see the Dodgers above the Yankees. I knew it was coming but still, shocking to see someone other than the Yanks riding the top of the list.
  24. Usually, I'm happy when I merely dislike Gardy's lineups. To be neutral on a lineup is a huge win for me. To see a lineup that's just about ideal, well... That doesn't happen very often.
