  1. Mauer had power behind that throw but again, it tailed off to right field.
  2. God knows that Justin Verlander, Anibal Sanchez, and an excellent Tigers pen had nothing to do with that. What exactly is your point? Neither Ullger nor Vavra is the hitting coach.
  3. Or maybe the observation has something to do with the seven years Vavra was hitting coach after following Ullger's "swing like a man" stint in the role.
  4. Heh. I'll look around for one when I get the chance.
  5. While hitless, he has drawn 2 BB (and should have drawn a third but bungled the AB) in 8 PA. This shouldn't be a concern for several more weeks. He has shown good discipline, which I'll take over two bloop singles because it's more sustainable and shows a solid approach.
  6. I don't even care about free. All I want is the ability to pay somebody to watch baseball games without having to use proxies to skirt the rules. And I'm sure as hell not gonna buy a cable package I don't want and won't use for anything other than sporting events.
  7. Interesting. I thought Florimon might get the day off. Oh well, no great loss one way or the other.
  8. Okay, I know that I've been told this a billion times in TD meetings but I'm pretty dense at times. Is there a Twins radio pre-game? If so, what station? I know the move to KTWIN has bungled this up a bit.
  9. Without knowing any of the men personally, it seems to me that Vavra is just better at his job (whatever it may be) than most of the coaches that have surrounded him over the years.
  10. I expect to hear a lot of confusion from Bert as he spends 5+ innings trying to figure out why the Orioles are wearing grey and blue uniforms before dismissing it as some throwback Negro League thing he doesn't understand.
  11. Twins still haven't released their lineup. I'm curious to see if we're going to see a getaway day lineup or just 1-2 guys sitting for the day. At the very least, I'd expect to see Carroll start... But do you replace Florimon or Dozier?
  12. Eh, I viewed that more as "they need to get some work" than a change in philosophy. But hey, I welcome the change if the latter is the case.
  13. Politics are allowed, we just have to keep it civil. I try to keep a close eye on any thread that turns political.
  14. MLB.tv uses your IP address to obtain your location. It doesn't matter if you subscribe in Bengali or Iowa... If you're in Minneapolis when you log in, MLB will black out the game. It's not a huge hassle to use a proxy to log in but it is a pain in the ass. A pain in the ass that shouldn't be necessary because there is no way in hell I'm going to subscribe to cable television. It's 2013. I'm not going to be tethered to a television set to watch a friggin' baseball game. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in coming years. Hockey, basketball, and baseball could lose an entire generation of fans because they're dogmatically sticking to outdated methods of delivery; methods of delivery that are not popular with children who grew up using the Internet. Football doesn't matter as much because all the games are broadcast on network television as opposed to cable.
  15. Cedar Rapids is going to be the club to watch this season. Huge ups to John and Seth for putting all of this together.
  16. Guardado's save record, maybe? Is it a team record or league/MLB record?
  17. While we're all in a trust circle and singing Kumbaya, I may as well toss this in the ring: In several places in the south, communities are still holding segregated proms. Yes, you heard that right. In 2013, black kids and white kids are not allowed to dance together at the same prom. *head explodes* A bunch of kids are fighting the lazy, slack-assedy, cowardly school officials that allow this to happen by maintaining it's a "private prom". Seriously, **** those people. Help these kids out. Give them a few bucks and let the kids have a prom that isn't mired in 1961 Selma Alabama. God, I hate the south so much. https://www.facebook.com/IntegratedProm2013?fref=ts If you like the page, a donate button should appear. For some reason, it's inconsistent for me. It appears sometimes, not others.
  18. More like "happy and divorced" just like the rest of us but yeah.
  19. MLB has their broadcasting rights twisted into such knots that I don't know if they'll ever get it sorted properly. Right now, it's sheer lunacy. I pay for MLB.tv but have no use for cable... So every time I watch a Twins game, I have to spend five minutes fiddling with proxy settings to make the system think I'm out of zone.
  20. His bench management has been excellent. Bullpen? Eh, I'm not convinced about that. But it hasn't been enough for me to complain about, either. Overall, I'm happy with all the managin' Gardy has been doing in the first two games.
  21. Lineups: Tigers: Austin Jackson CF Torii Hunter RF Miguel Cabrera 3B Prince Fielder 1B Victor Martinez DH Don Kelly LF Jhonny Peralta SS Alex Avila C Omar Infante 2B (Rick Porcello P) Twins: Aaron Hicks CF Joe Mauer C Josh Willingham LF Justin Morneau 1B Ryan Doumit DH Trevor Plouffe 3B Chris Parmelee RF Jamey Carroll 2B Pedro Florimon SS (Mike Pelfrey P)
  22. Yeah, absolutely no complaints can be made about Correia's start. It was very solid.
  23. Epic lulz and for once, the laughter isn't directed at the Twins.
