Pitz Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Sano with a 2 run homer and rbi double in his first two at bats as the Rock Cats are pounding Akron early. Summers making the start for New Britain. Is there any issue with Baxendale or was this just a promotion for Summers?

drjim Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Since no one is asking, Thorpe was signed for $500k last year coming out of Australia. Something to consider when we think about some of the signings the Twins will ultimately make this year, not always the 7 figure guys.

Something to consider when we think about some of the signings the Twins will ultimately make this year, not always the 7 figure guys. I was actually thinking about something similar earlier today. A few notable international signings who weren't huge bonus babies:Oscar Taveras: $145,000Gregory Polanceo: $75,000and a name Twins fans are familiar withOswaldo Arcia: $80,000 I remember reading one of the major prospect analysts (I think it may have been Jason Parks) earlier this year saying something to the affect that he would rather spread the spending pool out over a lot of players rather than signing one or two of the top dollar guys. As much of a crap shoot as the draft can be, signing 16 year olds from other countries is even more so. Of course signing a whole bunch of the big figure guys and snickering at the pool rules is another route to go as well.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 On the down side, I see Hicks was pulled from the game in Rochester in the 8th. I don't know if it's injury, attitude or what.
