Here is some of the latest Twins analysis and history from around the internet. The pieces cover Royce Lewis's uncertain future, Kirby Puckett's 1991 World Series heroics, the Trevor Megill trade's outcome, concerns about late-season collapses, and grades for the 2026 infielders.

  • Is Royce Lewis still part of the Twins’ plans? (Pioneer Press $$$). Notes the Twins' uncertainty about Royce Lewis's future, citing his decline from a .307/.930 OPS in his first 70 games to a .227/.667 OPS in 2026, along with 284 strikeouts in 313 games and a lack of consistency, while highlighting his potential and the team's interest in helping him regain form.
  • Twins History: Kirby Puckett puts team on back in iconic World Series Game 6 vs. Braves (Puckett's Pond). Revisits Kirby Puckett's iconic Game 6 performance in the 1991 World Series, noting his walk-off home run, three RBI, and a key catch that helped the Twins force a Game 7, which they won 1-0 in 10 innings with Jack Morris's historic pitching.
  • Revisiting the Twins’ side of Trevor Megill trade with Brewers: Where is the return now? (Puckett's Pond). Revisits the Twins' 2023 trade of Trevor Megill to the Brewers, noting Megill's transformation into a 2.61 ERA closer with 81 saves in 2024, while the Twins received Taylor Floyd, a 28-year-old pitcher with a 4.37 ERA in the minors who has never pitched above Double-A.
  • Can the Twins avoid another late landslide in 2027? (Twinkie Town). Notes a recurring pattern of late-season collapses by the Twins from 2022 to 2026, citing specific records and key events such as a 1-7 finish against the Guardians in 2022, a 9-18 September in 2024, and organizational missteps in 2025, while suggesting the 2023 team's depth and investment may offer a model for avoiding similar.
  • Grading the 2026 Twins: Infielders (Twinkie Town). Notes the 2026 Minnesota Twins infielders' performances, grading Josh Bell (B-), Brooks Lee (B+), Kody Clemens (B+), Royce Lewis (F), Victor Caratini (D+), Ryan Jeffers (A), Ryan Kreidler (C+), Tristan Gray (F), Kaelen Culpepper (B), and Alex Jackson (ungraded).

I would go with Lewis at first to start the season, unless he struggles terribly in spring training or if a no brainer of a trade can be made. But we would have to concentrate on getting a catcher that can play over 100 games and hit .250, along with getting relief help.
Lewis just might figure out how to hit as he did as a rookie again and with his enthusiasm he could be our William Contreras.
