3 turnover game.  WSH bad.  Vikes W takes step towards draft no man's land

They’ll still be underdog in their remaining games. MAYBE not the giants but that’s a road game

Felt like a September 2025 win for the Twins. Washington is already planning their trips to Cancun after the season

Well, good on KOC and his coaching staff that his players aren't.

Just watched the highlights. McCarthy is pretty fast.

Washington was terrible.

We'll see over the next few weeks if he's getting better, or that was Washington just being awful.

Surprised Washington laid such an egg. They really should have beaten the broncos last week

Baby steps at least… If our offense looked hopeless against this Washington team who had no interest playing we would be in big trouble.

They had a day less of rest plus their MNF game went to the end of overtime. Daniels rushed back from his elbow injury, and their team also sucks. It is hard to believe they were in the Championship game last year, but their defense is terrible and the offense is completely reliant on Daniels.

Weren’t they on Sunday night last week?

Oh yeah, you're right. That's a lot less rest advantage than I thought.

Good all around game.

*So many different mixes of personnel packages and quick hitting plays.

*Starting five offensive linemen dominated that game.

*McCarthy made baby steps.  No major issues but no "wow" plays either.  A very game-manager performance.

*Defense played like their butts were on fire.  A lot of aggression in their play.

*Even if we aren't taking a QB....draft position matters.  It gives you trade down leverage and an advantage in the second round.  This is a draft where we could land a LB and a nose tackle.  Or a long-term center.  Or two corners at this point.  Those are strength areas of this draft and losing draft position with this win kinda stings.

I really hope Kwesi is not picking because he's no longer a Vike employee.

Agree with the o-line, although to the extent a rush got through, it seemed to go through the right side, Fries had some problems. Jackson and Kelly were road graders. Really fun to watch.

I think KOC had a good game plan - but he usually does. His problem has been adjusting during games - not during the week. Today, essentially everything went right, he didn't need to do much adjusting.

I thought JJ had a very nice game, he made a number of good passes and his run for a first down from the 4 was a big play at the time. That second drive was a killer. I hope this is a bit like mid-way through last year when teams just said Darnold couldn't throw to Jefferson. He struggled a bit but then opened up, hitting other receivers, and the offense got better. Today, for the first time, it looked like JJ wasn't trying to force things and just took open receivers, even TEs.

Addison had another couple drops. bleh. He's not been helpful this year.

The draft position thing isn't that big a problem. We need JJ to improve. If he improves, we likely win. So be it. I'm ok going from the 8th pick to the 14th if that means we have an answer at QB. Plus, you don't think KAM can draft, so it doesn't really matter. These last five games - now four - are all about JJ developing. And, frankly, the last four games aren't easy - two road games at Dallas and NY (I guess that might be easy) and then the Packers and a Detroit team very likely fighting for a playoff team. I suspect if we win those games, JJ has furthered his development. And if he sucks, we probably lose them all.

Who are the sure fire CBs? McCoy hasn't played all year, Terrell is short, and Delane has physical limits. Those are the top 3 corners I'm seeing. I actually would prefer the safety, Downs, to those corners.

No idea. Just my gut .

Shockingly, several gurus have Minnesota picking the guy who will miss the whole season

McCarthy had plenty of time.  This the NFL, rushers will get through.  He held it too long at times and chose not to throw it away a time or two that was problematic as well.  But there was progress.

I don't agree that KOC has had good gameplans consistently this year.  There has been far too little of what we saw today in favor of vertical passing attacks.  I would bet my house he had a long chat with McVay this week who sobered him up a bit.

Draft position ALWAYS matters if you aren't making the playoffs.  Losing double digit games and coming out with the 13th pick is basically the worst thing that can happen.  You can absolutely make progress as a QB and still have your team lose games.  Drake Maye being a prime example last year.

And yes....I am hoping that if KAM is still drafting next year that we have made SIGNIFICANT changes to that process.  Up to the point of removing him entirely if need be.  If JJM is the right guy for us going forward, nailing this draft will be vital to hoisting a Lombardi trophy.  Another wasted year of picks will doom our ceiling even if our QB becomes a guy.

Yeah, if they won’t clarify, (and to be clear, they absolutely owe us zero additional information) that’s where the mind wanders.

Mike we're pals, stop trying to trigger me.....

I'm kidding of course, even while screaming in my head that there's no such thing as a sure fie CB.

Now that hardly any CBs travel with the other team's top WR, I think safeties and nickel backs are way more important. With so much zone coverage, the outside CBs typically only have a couple of outlets to watch for, the guys who play in the middle of the field have a near unlimited amount of options they have to guard against.

I agree with that. Georgia's senior corner is a top 50 pick but not, at least now, a first round pick. The write up on him is that he's better in quarters/cover 3 and has some size. Use the first on something else.

It's not just 8th to 14th pick for 1 round, it's for every round. And what a lame excuse you're throwing out, You think KAM is great, so why wouldn't you want a better draft pick in a season we won't make the playoffs?
