The Kansas City Royals selected him in round two of the 2015 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut for them in 2019. Staumont pitched parts of five seasons for the Royals, making one start and 193 relief appearances. He went 9-7 with a 4.01 ERA, recording eight saves. His 2023 season ended in June due to theoretic outlet syndrome. Kansas City non-tendered Staumont after the season, and he signed a one year deal with the Minnesota Twins. Staumont began the year in Triple-A, but was promoted to the Majors in early May. His Twins tenure got off to a brilliant start, still owning a perfect 0.00 ERA through 19 appearances. However, things fell apart once the steak ended. Staumont allowed ten runs over his next six appearances, and was designated for assignment in late July. He finished 2024 in the Cubs minor league system. Staumont signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds in 2025.
