VIDEO: Jhoan Duran: Twins Daily's 2022 Rookie of the Year

Jhoan Duran's 2022 season is incredible on the surface; a 1.86 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 57 appearances. What makes it even more magical is the context. Duran was a rookie and worked almost exclusively in high-leverage spots right out of the gate. He's a staple in the Twins' bullpen for many years to come.

We met Duran, by chance,  in the driveway of the home home he rented during the season.  

He is a very nice young man with a powerful arm and engaging smile.  We HOPE the Twins can hang onto this rock-solid reliever.  WHY he wasn't the "closer" is a mystery.  (Maybe it's because we picked up a Lopez, who like most of the Twins' pick-ups, was "injured" or "past his prime.")
