Buxtons hot start

While the season has just started and Buxton is definitely going to come back to earth at some point that doesn't change my mind that he will end the year in high A. Sano and Rosario were held back because of their gloves, not their bats

Rosario didn't get promoted in part because he got hit in the face and missed 2 months of the season. A large part of the reason Sano didn't get promoted is that he hit 230. People have posted similar thoughts to the quote above, but really, neither Sano or Rosario dominated at A ball, so the Twins left them there all season.

I really don't know who the Twins should take in the upcoming draft, but often a position player seems to be a safer pick that high. So many pitchers, break down no matter how special they seem. Most "experts" had Prior rated higher than Mauer. He got to the majors quicker too. There just don't seem to be many Verlanders out there. For every Price, Verlander, Greinke taken that high there seem to be 3 or 4 Bonderman's or Prior's. Guys with great arms who break down or don't ever reach their potential.

Having said that, I do hope that the Twins find a pitcher they really like at 4. I just think there are greater risks in taking a pitcher.

You got to remember that Prior was a college pitcher and legit...he broke down because he was abused by Dusty Baker when he got to the bigs. If Prior goes to the twins, who know's he may still be pitching and becomes a Verlander type pitcher. He had that kind of stuff. Just wasn't physically ready to throw the pitch counts he was throwing. USC abused him to, so it I can't put total blame on Dusty.

Blaming Dusty isn't fair and accurate. The Twins were one of the teams that actually mentioned being concerned about Prior's pitching mechanics but most media played that off as the Twins trying to find a BS excuse to draft the local boy.
