His timing is off. It's not too uncommon for some guys to take longer than others to get in the groove due to the fact that he missed a good chunk of time. 

 

A good example is MarGo. He missed basically all of spring training with the Twins and had a pretty subpar month of April, then he got in a nice groove and had a great month of May.
